Paroles et musique : Dionysis Tsaknis / Gritos De Guerra
Arrangement : Tony Gatlif
Musicien - REMEDIOS SILVA PISA

This song is about the nomadic Romani people in Greece who spread also in many other countries. The Greeks initially thought they were Egyptians, hence their name became the Gypsies :-) they origins can be traced all the way back to India. We Greeks live with them since the Byzantine Empire and through the Ottoman Empire. They are a part of us and we love them very much! Here is the latest version of “Nas Balamos”singing by Fotini a Greek-Gypsy Girl with a wonderful voice and the "Going Through"
I have no place, I have no hope No land will cry for me And with my hands and my heart I make tabernacles in my dreams One balamos, one balamos (non Gypsy) who is my boss nagia domles atje i balamos (gypsy "Im homless please my balamos") And when our gypsygirls are dancing with they magical parfumes they move the bodies and they hips and close you in they arms
This song and her deep voice combined has a very unusual beauty… I admire and respect flamenco music and dance .. woman can express herself not only being sexy .. she can also show her whole being of dignity, self-respect, pride, confidence and strength .. woman is not a some material .. I have no respect for man ; seeing woman only a sex object nor for a woman represent herself like that…
I feel the irony and the pitty for the hatred regarding the origins of a wonderful song. the movie is talking about exactly that, the nonsense of a vendeta hatred and its destructive power. did any of you saw the movie???? IDIOTS
although i am greek and very proud its a fantastic version...estupende ...mi cantante es muy buena...una cantante para todas idiomas and todo el mundo... as for my friend who say bad things for greece if the only think you feel when you hear this excellent voice to say these for greece so i dont even recommend you to visit greece or read some history but for sure GET a LIFEEEEEEEEEE
you should think before you you talk...this is for my friend theorenj and mysteriousburaq... instead of sayin this for greeks you d better read some history and then you d respect them...but if its difficult for you so you d better get a life ........although i am greek i loved this song en spanish....una cantante perfecta para todo el mund para todas las idiomas....estupente mis amigos de espania ...
lmao, these greek fools are so funny... every video i come across theres a fucking greek claiming somehow that they were to credit for the original ideas in the clip soooo damned annoying!
NONSENSE! This is NOT greek. Not everything is greek, my friends! Even the musical texture brings you to Al Andaluz and to the Sepharadic jews. This is an old melody, and whoever may have sung it in Greece, it must have been a cover - official or not. It may have been brought by the gipsies to Saloniki, but sorry about "Dionisis Tsaknis composed, and whoever first sang" It's a really annoying to declare everything is either greek or macedonian.
@flagumdei google it... you'll be surprised!!! It has nothing to do about everything being Greek. It's an actual fact. This song was composed by a greek composer/ singer. The cover though here is amazing and the music resembles the flamenco/ spanish culture that the greek... which is absolutely reasonable since the song is for the spanish audience. Music has the power to connect people around the world... don't degrade its beauty.
@flagumdei if you search for the soundtrack of vengo you will come across this: "Nací en Alamo" Lyrics by Tony Gatlif Musical arrangement by Gritos de Guerra and Tony Gatlif after Dionissis Tsaknis Singer: Remedios Silva Pisa Guitars: Emilio Fernándesz de los Santos and Ramón Pisa Borja Turkish Flute: Kudsi Ergüner Palmas and Cajon: Rafael García Serrano 'El Electrico' Chorus: Susana Vizarraga Borja and Alba Pisa Pérez Guitar Bass: Christophe Munck
@flagumdei hahaha I know it is annoying to you... but so it is... you must live with that... otherwise make your own music or perhaps better... (and ones again... this makes me annoying... please read history, please! something heard about ostrogots and bithigots?) You all are talking about... were are the greeks today? well here is one Dionisis Tsaknis and the song is called Nas Balamos , enyoy it!
@Arouraiouli Hahaha, however, I am not inclined to argue. But, believe me, I have a lot to say about history, music, ways of composing, greeks, etc. Much more than you probably expect. Enjoy your ways.
@flagumdei Im shure your not inclined to argue, because you find out that it is how it is. And Im shure too that you have a lot to say about history, music, greeks... cause everyone has... have a nice day ;-)
@eaglerock999 Naci en Alamo, a song about a person who has nothing. Has no home,no where to go,lonely, sad, miserable. I cant listen to this for too long. Very sad.
That's right this isn't Yasmin Levy. it is Remedios Silva Pisa singing the rendition used for closing credits in the film "Vengo". The film is filled with extraordinary, genuine flamenco music and passion.
I agree, of course, and I like very much popular music all over the world. The movie "Vengo" is one of my favorites and I loved this song and the voice of Remedios Silva Pisa.
The whole song has greek lyrics apart from one phrase in the chorus which is also the title. I think it's called ' Nais Balamo' but I'm not sure about the first word because it's supposed to be Roma dialect. 'Balamo' however is how Gypsies call non-Roma people, foreigners.

This is the original version, in Spanish: "Naci en Alamo" ("I Was Born in Alamo"). Is included in the soundtrack of Tony Gatlif's movie "Vengo", but it was sung by the gypsy girl Remedios Silva Pisa, not by Yasmin Levy. Levy just made a cover of her
Actually the original song isn't spanish, but Greek written by Dionysis Tsaknis and interpreted by Giorgos Katsaris. Tony Gatlif borrowed the song for his movie and wrote the spanish lyrics.
Although I prefer the original song, this is a nice version, :)

Greek??
Hahaha! =))
You must learn spanish well.Have you ever heard a spanish language in your life?? Spainish is a language which has many old greek words but it doesnt mean its Greek! Pffff...
He meant that the original song was Greek not that he cannot tell the difference in between the languages you moron. If you have seen Vengo (I have) in the titles in the end says: Arrangement de Tony Gatlif d'apres "Balamos" de Dionysis Tsaknis. I'm Greek living in Spain. Your english sucks btw so I can explain it to you in spanish too if you want...
