  • the man is a complete genius.

  • What I like about Brel's music? Each artist who sings his masterpieces, adds their own little touch to it.

  • I do not think it is possible to do this song better than Marc Almond did it.

  • Mr Marc Almond. LEGEND

  • this is really sexy

  • Stunning performance...none better

  • Outstanding!!!

  • There is word for this kind of performance: Kitsch.

    To much libido

  • Let's see your version then.

  • this guy puts on one hell of a show.

absolutely fantastic.... jacques brel eat your heart out....

  • I'm flying from Texas to England in December to see Marc on my birthday... I've seen him once solo and once with Soft Cell... and this song is one of the main reasons for the trans-atlantic trek. There's no way he can do a 30-year revue w/out Jacky

  • @Noddy93 Did you get to see him in concert?..did he sing Jacky?

  • for what it's worth, i am not a mad MA fan, i don't particularly like cabaret or camp, but i can appreciate brel. i can however appreciate talent, and this is marvellous. as someone else said on an earlier post, it IS different to the original, but almond's respect of brel is obvious, and this is a great performance.

  • JUST DELICIOUS!!!!!

  • amazing wish i had been there....what a talent!

  • Marvelous!!!

  • I love Marc Almond, and his version of Jacky is absolute perfection.

  • A genius!

  • ---This might be a kind of "Variete " or so

maybe people like it because of the performance and the half naked dance woman----

But : this has really nothing to do with B R E L

and his intentions and his art and so on.. this is abuse....

  • not many singers can do this song justice but almond pulls it off, its a classic

  • I have this concert recording on CD,and just wondered if it was on DVD?

  • Is this concert on DVD????

  • yes it is

  • Wow...this is quite an interesting explosion of overly-pompous drek. Almonds voice is pretty much shot (and pretty sharp much of the song), the arrangement is just goofy-retarded...and the "come back Jacky" thing suggests that maybe nobody who put this massacre together even bothered to pay any attention to the lyrics.

I can see why this would be very powerful to see in concert, but that doesn't mean it's not garbage.

  • Are you deaf? Marc gives a fantastic live performance as he always does!

  • Oh now now, obviously isn't the Brel original, but I really enjoy this interesting re arrangement. It doesn't insult the original, it simply puts a new twist on it.

  • Marc is fantastic, I saw him in Dublic last February and he had the audience in the palm of his hand...the man could walk on water...see him live, you won't forget it.

  • CUTE! In a stupid ass way

  • This is wonderful performance, I saw him in Bexhill on 7th June & he was wonderful that night to.

  • Sefton's special son; he covers Brel's song superbly

  • This is awesome. If you can't hear it - have your ears examined.

  • What's not to like?

You have the Walker & the Brel. Now the rest of us have this as well.

    Sourpuss

  • I disagree completely - Marc Almond has a completely unique style and JACKY suits him to a T. I don't think he ever sang better than at this TWELVE YEARS OF TEARS concert - and remember, this is 1993, YEARS before the dreaded Autotune could make even the Spice Girls sound like they could hold a note!

  • The sound doesnt justify the lyrics. I just cant see this song being performed like this! His voice isnt bad...the arrangement is.

  • We'll just have to agree to disagree... I posted it because I think the arrangement is BRILLIANT - esp. as it was done at a time when virtually no other pop or rock act would dare to do anything this 'cabaret' inspired! His TENEMENT SYMPHONY album is a classic.

  • @deathnotesuicide .... years on but believe me this song was excellent at the time. Never mind the arrangement, his voice etc. I was at the concert, which is a million times better than anything you could EVER find on youtube. I've seen hime live other times too, but that twelve years of tears concert will take some beating. Especially the piano medley.

This song was performed like this, his voice is excellent and the music was excellent. See him live (not on youtube) and you'll understand.

  • The Brel and Walker recordings of this are superb, but I don't know how you can be a fan of those and not also enjoy Almond's. It's a superb interpretation; he really understands what the song's about and gets it right.

  • I really can't stand the synths! Again...i feel that his vocals are fine but the arrangement just sounds...too over the top...unlike walkers arrangement...walkers arrangement only differs slightly from Brels amazing song! It's the style that i cant stand...i enjoy a more "classic" sound i suppose.

  • a m a z i n g !!!!!!!!

  • have the CD which was great but this is just magnificent!!!

  • what a raver pipe bomb

  • he was cute

  • Not a patch on Scott Walker's version.

  • It's more like his version of Scott Walker's Jacky than Jacques Brel's.

  • i'm speachless! :)

  • Shepherds Bush Empire it's his 50th birthday

  • wow this is amazing Marc looks and sounds fantastic, absolutely fabulous, going to see him next Monday am now even more excited!

  • WOW - i'm so jealous!! where's he playing?? BOB (MARK)

  • how was the concert

  • the concert was amazing, every time I go to see Marc perform I say it was amazing, but this was a very special night, he was on top form and when everyone sang happy birthday he was very emotional, which wss really sweet. I'me going to see him on the 8th of December, which i'me really looking forward to.

  • Brilliant!!!!!

  • love this!!!

  • I can't wait for Marc to come with a concert to New York.

  • they removed the studio video, but i luv this too.

    an amazing stage performance xx

  • Why is there such a dearth of music performed with passion nowadays. This blows away anything in the charts today.

  • you're so right!

  • Have always loved Marc Almond
