I am a register Independent sales agent for Level- 1,2.3 and 4 merchants. And I'd like to comment on the facts you mentioned.

First allow me to say...Although I sell premium merchant services to small businesses,I also SELL PayPal Pro and PayPal Link. And I am ;here to tell you that because you are processing credit cards through PayPal...you are over paying 38%.In other words...considering the profits on sales, you are loosing 38% on your potential
