  • 2 people couldnt get to this

  • Ok...there is a God. lol

  • Beautiful....Gifted....smh:-(((

  • sweet marvin. greatly missed :((

  • This is truly amazing of one of the greatest soul singers of all time!! @ nikkeljoe: Amazing!! Good work!! :)

  • This is absolutely incredible!!! Just Marvin and a piano, priceless!

  • two people had a gun held to their heads and were forced to dislike this smh

  • I agree: If this does'nt make you feel good, you have no soul.

    2 idiots, have not...

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • listen to the piano <3

  • This is real music, from the soul, you can feel it.

  • Soulman

  • I remember when this was on tv - I think it is available on dvd now.

  • REAL SOUL MUSIC.....U DONT SEE THIS ON AMERICAN IDOL..SOUL MUSIC DOES NOT EXCIST TODAY ANYMORE...O YEA//AMERICAN IDOL SUCKS...LOL..AND SO DO THE RECORD COMPANIES WHO MADE SURE SOUL MUSIC DOES NOT GET PLAYED....

  • @XXXXLOWRIDERXXXX not true not true. mayber not in the mainstream but a true soul fan knows it still exist

  • I FOUND A RANDOM DISC THAT SAID MARVIN GAYE AND I PUT IT IN THE CD PLAYER AND IT DIDN'T WORK SO I PUT IT IN THE DVD AND THIS WHOLE DOCUMENTARY IS WHAT I FOUND

    Greatest day ever.

Also, anyone getting a Michael vibe from his sort of... gentle spirit?

  • Marvin, you really were, still are the greatest singer in the world.

  • Marvin, you really were, still are the greatest singer in the world.

  • Holy S**T. I am a huge Motown fan. Long live Barry Gordy and the Funk brothers

BUT THIS...is just unforgettable, Critic that I am...would have been super cool to hear Jamerson play bass as a duo on this,.

  • He pulls my soul to the skin

  • All I can say that God, with all my respect, was selfish enough to take him to His loving home so He could be closer to his voice and soul. He's surely enjoying Marvin's performances every night.

  • man...why can't this be played on the iPhone?? so sad

  • I have the DVD I love Marvin - Transit Ostend, I think its still available

  • mARVIN "tHE mASTER"

  • Pure one of my favorite songs of the great master Marvin gaye love your voice the rhythm of your music

  • Nothing like hearing artists/songwriters interpreting their music in a solo format. It makes the music so raw that you start to understand their genius in performing, writing, and arranging. Just amazing 'cause I love "Come Get To This" and "Distant Lover". Just wow......

  • I experienced a SOUL OVERLOAD from 4:48 to 5:26. And when he hit that note on the piano at 5:07 and paused because of the overwhelming soul and passion in the cord he played and went "oooh...come on home pretty daaarlaaain", I think my computer speakers blew!

  • ill favorite this till' the day i die.

  • Wish I could create an mp3 of this....can anybody share their knowledge of how to do this?

  • thank u thank u to the person who posted this video.

  • What a special treat this was for me, I so enjoyed watching Marvin tickle the ivory's and of course that magnificent voice of his!!!

    Gave me chills.......mmmmmmmmmm he's beautiful

  • this is from a belgium documentary in 1981

  • A completley different kind of cool.

  • the distant lover bit is immense x

  • @ubzuki R.kelly comes closest to me to marvin kellz fell off the last few yrs but he's already a legend out of the new dudes I think neyo, trey songz can get there

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARVIN!

  • Wow, cool never goes out of style.

  • Talent: a lost art in todays world, MArvin live on....

  • Amazing...

  • damn!!

  • it is on DVD. THis is prior the recording off his come back album, "Midnight Love" with ths smash hit "sexual healing".

A belgian prmoter and fan invited him in Oostende where he could rest and give up his drug habits (Cocaine and majijuana) and he did succed during his time in Belgium. ON the DVD, you have a first version of "Sexual Healing".

  • What? You came here for marijuana!? That ain't no drug! Have you ever sucked dick for weed!? NO??? Boo this man!!! Boooooo!

  • people are not born with this type of talent I think I will be another 25yrs before we see somebody with a gift like this

  • @MrWARBUCKS24

Fair point. But of the current crop of artists, or artists from the last 25 years , who do you think comes close?

  • @UBZUKI Wow...nobody comes close to Marvin...from any era. But if I had to pick the closest from the last 25 years...Brian McKinght maybe. Josh Groban has a beautiful voice, but McKnight's more soulful so that's why I went with him.

  • @KrfNYC2

Well for me 3 artists , VOCALLY can easily stand up with the late GREAT Marvin Gaye....DONNY HATHAWAY, STEVIE WONDER AND SAM COOKE. Brian McKnight? I respect your choice but he doesn't do it for me in this particular category. I much prefer D'angelo to fill them shoes.

  • I haven't listened to much D'angelo. But listen to McKnight's "One Last Cry" that's probably the best example.

  • @UBZUKI i agree. d'angelo

  • @p58lp

    How about MAXWELL.?

  • Where did this come from?

    is this a dvd??

  • Documentary he did called Transit Ostend, not sure if its on Dvd, this is from the video when it was shown on tv.

  • @nikkeljoe It's on a real DVD called SEARCHING THE SOUL and it's available on Amaz.uk... It's not long but it's so moving... Love when Marvin sings in the Church or when he's rehearsing I Want You laying on a sofa while the band grooves!

  • Ohh and just to add, I never found Marvin's music, it found me!!

  • BY GOD we miss his talent and soul he shone out from within him!

  • im so mad that this kind of talent only comes along once a lifetime. my life was just starting as his was ending. Im an old soul been diggn marv since i was 6 and 7 and been emerged n his work since then. people would ask me how do you know that song? or what you know about that?...LMAO @ now that i think about it cuz i didnt know then what i know about it now.

  • I was just one day old when he died!!!

    I was born 31-03-1984

  • really loved this vid..thanks :)

    Always Marvin.. SOUL music himself

  • not only was the man an incredible musician but he was a fantastic person, he cared and loved, so many of his melodic songs were political. what a sad loss to the world.

  • Joe did a cover to this, and its great man but Marv is the originator. ;)

  • no one can ever compare to Mr. Gaye! RIP

  • U know that ur the best when u have a concert with urself. Marvin is extraordinary and there is no one who can compare... Marvin why oh why.... we love you...

  • its so true! we love you and miss you so much!

  • He will live in our hearts forever

  • the song is timeless

    the performance is timeless

    like love !

    man, he's Art !

    thanx marvin

  • damn......

  • you can see he has the gospel roots in him. dang he is TALENTED!

  • Priceless footage.

  • Im 36 and I miss going to the record store, it almost felt like some grand event, going there and being able to look the album covers which were artistic in themselves. Not the same think as point click and download. Bring back vinyl.

  • @macewindu67 eh? what planet you from? I still go to my record store every week. I will always support my record store.

  • This is such a joy because I did not know Marvin was a talented pianist. I almost teared up when I seen this.

  • so damn talented

  • Happy Birthday Marvin. I Love u Baby. (:

  • hope to meet you in heaven one day ,marvin!

  • Best Video I have ever seen. Truely moves me to tears.

  • When you grew up in the 70's we were surrounded by excellent artists and songs. We had a smile on our faces and look forward to dancing. It was an awesome time, and I sure miss it.

  • I feel ya!!!!

  • thaks! there are people, who tell us, how it was and give us motivation to dance, to smile, to surround with GOOD music, not only and only: to earn earn earn money money money! There can be another priorities in life, isnt it?

  • simply brillant Marv i miss u brah so much i promise to keep that passion in music like the MOTOWN instructed

    Rest In Peace

  • marvin is a poet rashid el

  • There was such a sensuality to the music of M. Gaye's era, now all the music is strictly sexual leaving nothing for the imagination and showcasing the lack of skill and creativity the majority of singers out there today have.

And folks ask why I love the 70s.

Speechless at him just sitting down and playing and singing like that...Pure artistry

  • I wholeheartedly agree, 100% The shame is I wasn't even born in the 70's lol and I cant stand the music of today. 24 years old and this is the music I feel the most.

  • Born in the 70s?...I'm 19 years old LOL

Thank God I had parents who have an extensive vinyl LP collection and listened to the old school R&B and classic soul station in the car LOL That was enough exposure for me to fall in love with the entire era and genre of music

  • LoL in that case, you and me are ahead of our time!

  • U are not alone:) The music of Marvin Gaye and others is spiritually, intelligent and powewrfull, nowadays...hmmm...quite rare...

  • This brotha sang through turbulant bouts of pain & sorrow and at times the little joy that he had.

  • Marvin actually took us to church on this one! Can you feel it?!

  • GREAT!!

    Thank you for posting this!!

    I love Marvin Gaye forever.

  • i do listen to this so often its pure beauty
