One of the good things about Harrogate is its green spaces The Valley Gardens orig Bog's Field homes 36 mineral wells once piped to the Royal Baths but since capped though only two of these are visible above the surface The central footpath around which the gardens developed in Victorian times linked the Old Sulphur Well and the Bogs Fields a popular walk in the eighteenth century now dedicated to Sir Edward Elgar famous composer and regular visitor to Harrogate prior to 1927
