I grew up in a fundamentalist Pentecostal church. Then I realized that the whole modesty thing was a lie passed down through tradition. Then I began to realize most of the dogma was passed down through tradition. And thus began my journey to Atheism.
What do you do for fun, seems like you've spent a lot of your time on this subject. It's all subjective so do you travel? Ride bikes? Shoot guns? Cook?
Looks like you enjoy the grog a bit.
Like the pants bit, Indians and Turks as well as others never stopped wearing pants type clothing.
I feel bad for the you and the preachers you went to. Neither you or the preachers were correct. These questions do have answers to them. Coming from you I would expect you to question something more along the lines of the Trinity, or the divinity of Christ, or predestination vs free will. Pants and long hair..........
Are you suggesting that you think that I DIDN'T question the Trinity? the divinity of Jesus? predestination? free will?
Did you even REMOTELY pay attention to the part of this video which explained that it was a DIRECT response to SPECIFIC comments aimed at the previous video?
I ALSO GREW UP IN THE CHURCH LUTHERAN TO BE EXACT AND ASKED MANY OF THE SAME QS AND NEVER WAS GIVEN A DESCENT ANSWER EITHER!! i dont understand how people continue to follow lies and bs when science has all the answers to me they r cowards!!!!!
Wow, Mr. Heathen! You (almost) told my story! Started questioning when I was 7.
None of what I heard, or read, made sense. NEVER sought counsel from any "religious" or otherwise authority. They are just people. Chucked my Bible and Church and thought I would just wait until it was my time to learn the truth, if there was one.
My time did come. Not from reading the Bible or attending Church. God revealed
Himself to me in His own way. He knows me. It's all about a PERSONAL relationship.
@sparklevi Exactly. That was my experience. I had to know if God was real. My answer didn't come with a title like God or Jesus or any religious figure, but was one of UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. Many said this wasn't God but the devil. I said I don't believe in a devil. That cemented it for them lol. Do I believe there are forces not in sync with Goodness? Yes, it's called an overblown selfish, self serving ego with no regard for others and/or mental illness untreated. I enjoyed your response. :o)
even if you say or imply that you are an atheist..the very reason that you still mention and think about God in your atheist view of Him..it would still make your unbelief logically incorrect. your own stand against God only makes it clear that you really need Him desperately. i pray that you'll return to the faith..just as i did. God bless King Heathen.
@kurumbutize Pray that all cancer ends....you know...just in case. Leave me out of it...I wouldn't worship your god even if he were real. As to the rest of your ludicrous logic...please get a clue.
i have to say this and tell me if im wrong. God never said that we have to live life in a certain matter or whatever he gave us "free will" to see how we would act on our own, the Lord never said woman have to wear dresses the church just says it cause most "priests" are self-righteous meaning confident of one's own righteousness, esp. when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behavior of others thats why i dont go to church, i have faith i the holy spirit
@XxxpotheadsmokerxxX I don't say your wrong but maybe just uninformed. The Bible does tell us how to live all throughout the old and new testament. Once a person places their faith in Christ by their own freewill what they have done is turn or repent of their own way's and now seek the things of God. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Paul speaking to the church at Corinth. Say's they've been bought by the Blood of Christ and they now belong to God. So we glorify Him in our bodies and spirits.
king heathen God loves you and wants to save you even after you've mocked Him and His Word. Your saved "By grace through faith and that not of ourselves:it is the gift of God". Don't let a hypocrite keep you from heaven. It's not worth spending eternity in hell. The very best man in the world is still at best a man. Nothing more. Your letting man cloud your view of God. There's still time left you know the truth now follow it.
I was raised in a fundamental christian church. Said the "sinners prayer" the whole thing. But never desired to serve God. When I was 23 a pastor questioned my salvation experience and showed me John 6:44. Noone had ever shown me that. You can't understand because you've rejected The Holy Spirit. 1Corinthians 2:11-16. God's Word is true whether we believe it or agree with it because it's His Word not ours. The Holy Spirit will show you this when and only when you become Born Again. Turn to God!
@Mr308winmag Yeah, that wasn't my experience. I didn't reject the Holy Spirit. I even experienced everything that they all told me would happen when I received it.
Oh, and "god's word is true...because it's his word"...that's circular logic and that equals fail.
@KingHeathen You have rejected the Holy Spirit and "God's Word" which is true whether you agree or not. The "circular logic" brings it all back to Him. Psalm 119:89 tells us His Word is settled forever in heaven. No matter what man does he just can't get rid of it can he? Luke 16:16-17. The law of God will not fail. By the way could you post some of the contradictions you find in God's Word? I'm not at all looking for an argument, but your trying to mock my Savior. Galatians 6:7 thks.
@KingHeathen you seem to be using the political tactic of attacking a person's intelligence. So to answer the question yes I do know what circular logic means. I'm not going to attack you personally and will not reply again. If you read the scrips I posted you would see why you're not a born again christian. If you ever were you still would be. You had a form of godliness ie going to church. But denied the power thereof. 2 Timothy 3:5 I will let you alone. Still waiting for Bible contradictions.
@bnbalenda Don't think you'll have to worry about that. You may get a chance to throw a bucket at satan but I seriously doubt that they supply buckets in hell either. BTW why doesn't satan deserve the mockery instead of God?
If you believe in evolution and natural sciences, what is left that can only be explained by "God" and how is that more than "the God of the gaps" which science precludes by its very existence?
a christian i work with gave me a copy of a case for the creator. of course i failed to tell him that my last major in college was micro-biology. never mind my years of experience with the field of herpetology (reptiles).
i read it and laughed. i told him it was absurd and was on the level with folks denying the moon landings or that the earth is round.
i dismissed him as i would any conspiracy theory nutter, well in fact that is what he is.
This is the biggest problem with a strict interpretation of the modern bible. Many of the translations are WRONG. Just comparing a King James bible with a Catholic Youth bible will get different verses. The bible is the word of God, but it has been tainted by the tongues of men throughout history. If we still had the original words of the people who taught the bible not what was written down almost a century later we would probably have something far different than anything we have today.
@Nightrider1367 Can you point out where the translations are wrong? There are different ways of saying something, but if theres any question we still have the greek to go back to. Can you give an example of it being tainted that would merit discrediting the whole text? The words actually were written down- as the evidence shows- in the first century, as inconvenient this is to your claim we'd have something far different today, unfortunately, there's that indomitable nuisance we call reality.
@campowt I'm not talking about discrediting the whole text. I am talking about how when you read the bible you have to keep in mind that while some passages were meant to be taken literally, Leviticus is full of these passages, others were meant to be metaphorical, almost the entire book of Revelation. If you are a strict believer in that what the bible says is completely true and there are no fallacies in it you are deluding yourself. One word can change the whole meaning of a sentence.
@Nightrider1367 I dont think anyone doubts that the Bible is fraught with rhetorical devices. That doesn't mean interpreting it strictly will lead to error, quite the opposite. One can, and ought, to strictly interpret a metaphor as a metaphor and strictly interpret literally a literal statement. Good Bible expositors seek to understand what the was the authors intent. Truth is a dangerous thing to handle, it must be done carefully and not lightly.
@campowt And that is where I am saying there is a problem. There are so many fundamentalist churches that take those rhetorical devices and try to use them literally. I will mention Leviticus yet again the laws in that book are archaic yet some churches still try to enforce them today. It is those churches that drive people from God, our host for example. Some people don't understand that the bible is a divine work inspired by God and expressed through the imperfect tongue of man.
@Nightrider1367 Ok I see what your saying, and I do agree with you. Thats another error of KH's is that he thinks he can interpret these scriptures on his own, better than someone trained in hermeneutics, that is someone trained in knowing the history, context, literary style and so on. Granted, his pastor, along with some "fundamentalist churches" you've mentioned, may be poorly trained and grievously susceptible to error. But an imperfect tongue by no means vitiates the inerrant Word of God.
@campowt I don't think it is whether or not he understands the bible, because from what I see he has a pretty good understanding and is probably better than most preachers I know, he doesn't believe. There were many who saw Jesus first hand and didn't believe Him so it makes sense that there would be those today who don't believe either. Have you seen his earlier vids? The man is intelligent and he is just describing what he sees.
Sorry KH for talking like your not there it seems a bit rude.
@Nightrider1367 Yes, I've watched many of his vids. Yes, he's very intelligent. However the most intelligent error is no better than the least intelligent truth. For example there were extremely intelligent men working with tremendous facts to formulate an incredibly intricate and highly accurate geocentric model. 11th cent. St. Anselm said faith needs to seek understanding, they are not antithetical. There is a point for both Atheists and Theist where reason leaves off, and a faith is chosen.
@Nightrider1367 No need to apologize. I have stopped replying to campowt as he's proven himself to be a waste of time and incapable of questioning his preconceived notions even when utterly dismantled.
what if a woman has hormonal issues and therefore becomes bald at a young age before the invention of wigs? [not that uncommon] ....i guess she was screwed. hahahaha. please watch the video i just made!
Agreed, there is a ton of crap in the bible. But what if god put all the crap in the bible to test our faith? What if god created the Grand Canyon 6000 years ago and made it appear that it is much older than that just to test our faith? What if there were never dinosaurs at all and god created fossils 6000 years ago just to mess with our heads?
@Gregbradybear I'd expect someone to know a little about the Bible before they call it crap.
Given the oceanic sediment and topographical evidence that the canyon was actually carved out, not by a stream, but a massive flood, I wonder what book talks about a certain flood about that long ago?
@campowt you are very mistaken, the ICE AGE shaped the grand canyon and MANY other canyons, its hard to say for sure but the sedements show that it was eroded in most places by water, but in other places by ICE. The flood that happened in noahs ark simply is not possible there is not enough water and the planet. And according to the bible there was no water from the sky's? really you believe that, so you can say that basically before recently there was NO process of evaporation?
The bible is not full of crap. It's just misinterpreted. You see, stories in the bible are not about a supernatural God. The stories are about ancient astronauts that visited the Earth periodically to check on the progress of their life seeding project. The people who wrote the bible misunderstood what these beings were. Do a search on ancient astronaut theory and you will see that it makes perfect sense.
Whats clear is that you didnt actually leave Christianity, but some form of moral religion or "churchianity." The Bible has had 2 opposite effects for you and I, it lead me from Atheism to Christianity. You cant conclude there are no answers if your preacher doesnt have them, and when you sought, you didnt seek a defense, but a challenge. Its not the things I dont understand but the things I do that bother me. You're focusing on the wheel and not the road, thats why you went the wrong way.
@campowt that's where your wrong, he seeked his own answers, as in a defense, not a challenge. He started asking challenges if you want to call them that when he started to realize that the bible only makes sense when you see it as there is no god, or see him as imaginary. Now the point is you can conclude there is no answer if the preacher doesn't have the answer but the better thing to do is to seek an answer for yourself, and that's what he did.
@foofiter9097 Where, precisely, am I wrong? Please read what I wrote more carefully. Whether or not one seeks a challenge AS a defense or not is irrelevant, a challenge is still a challenge.
It is sheer imbecility to claim that only if God is not real does the Bible make any sense. You might as well construct a model of the solar system without the sun. And God is like the sun, you cannot look directly at Him, but without him you cannot factually look at anything else.
@campowt he didn't seek a challenge to begin with, you need to read mine more carefully, he seeked out a defense at first, NOT a challenge. How can you call a defense a challenge to the bible? a defense is a challenge to anything not related to the bible. And yeah you read the entire bible and give me 100 different points and show me that those make sense when you believe there is a god. As for your cannot look at the sun theory, that's wrong you can look at it not like god.
@foofiter9097 Take the Canon for example, a defense would be FF Bruce, a challenge would be Dan Brown. Who you listen to is your choice, but its predicated on your worldview.
The point with the sun was an analogy, not a theory. And your lightyears off on a tangent that has nothing to do with the point. Nonetheless, as analogies work, you see the material sun with your material eyes, God is spirit and is seen with spiritual eyes. Yours are blind, which is a condition of the heart.
@campowt there is another problem there, he cannot be spiritual if he created the world, BECAUSE something that is not seen could not create the universe nor anything for that matter. Have you seen anything that isn't seen with your eyes? they are called atoms or cells, they are not seen with the human eye, which means they are the one thing you could ever refer to as a god.
@foofiter9097 We make a distinction between creating and begetting. What one creates is of a different essence, what one begets is of the same substance. When I was younger I carved a wooden car. Are you telling me that BECAUSE I'm not made of wood I couldn't have created a wood car? A tree can beget a tree, Jesus was begotten of God, of the same essence.
Invisibility doesnt make a thing God, though an atom is, indeed, invisible, its still, in fact, of material essence, not spiritual, not God.
@campowt what exatcly is a spirit? how about watching King Heathens video about that BEFORE you bring that up. Secondly one cannot prove there that jesus was here, let alone that he was the son of god, just because marry claimed to be a virgin you automatically assume "son of god". Also jesus wasn't spirtual, he was able to be seen with human eyes, which means that part makes no sense if he is in fact gods son, then he should be as god is unseen and unheard. And besides the bible is crap.
@foofiter9097 I couldnt really define spirit in less complicated terms, I can define it in contrast to what its not, that is, material. It's your personhood/life, you dont have a spirit you are a spirit, you have a body. Plenty of reliable historians doubt Jesus was the Son of God, but none, to be sure, doubt He existed. He could be seen because He was man also- thats a much longer discussion- I believe on much more evidence than the virgin birth. Your last proposition is an unsubstantiated bias
@campowt its not physically possible nor is it "spirtitually" possible for a virgin to give birth to a man, it IS (has been thought of in science) possible for a virgin to give birth to a girl, but only if a very rare thing occurs, that would be an egg during menstrual cycle splitting half way and producing a "x" xx = female. That is the only way it happens. She gave birth to a boy, its not possible for her to have done so and be a virgin, it has never happened in the 200,000 humans have lived.
@foofiter9097 This virgin birth explanation horrendously misses the point. We are not talking about what is possible for a human to accomplish, but what God is capable of. With God anything is possible. Therefore it is a fallacy to conclude that since something is impossible for a human then God must not exist. It's just absurd thinking.
Yeah the brain thinks and controls your body, but its not your spirit/life. Whats the difference between a dead brain and a live one?
@campowt it does not miss the point, my point is this: if god actually made her pregnant (which is highly unlikely) then why was it she jumped to that conclution that her child was the "son" of god? its simple really, because she was a none(I hope you know what I mean) and being as they are not allowed to have sex, if she was supposedly found out to have had sex it would not end well for her. But yet you believe it is far more likely that a unseeing force made her pregnant? where is the proof.
@foofiter9097 Seriously? You're claiming Mary was a "nun"(???) Why is it highly unlikely for her to conceive through the Holy Spirit? For this was precisely prophesied hundreds of years prior. I never said God was an unseeing force.
Whether or not you believe the flood is true, really doesnt matter. What does matter is for you to see God, you wont see Him till you see your need for Him, you wont see your need for Him till you realize you've sinned and are under His wrath and need to repent.
@campowt it is highly unlikely BECAUSE SEX IS THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE CHILDREN. I cannot believe you can't see that, the chance that there IS a god is LITTERALLY 1/100,000,000,000,000 and yet you say WITHOUT ANY PROOF that she gave birth to the son of god. I am telling you the bible could have made those claims AFTER it happened, nobody can say they didn't because people have been re-making the bible since it came out, you really believe they didn't add that info in later?
@foofiter9097 Ok, read this very slowly for I'm not repeating it again. God is not a human, what is impossible for man is possible for God. Your misuse of "literally" and arbitrary number is nugatory to the point. The evidence- like the Dead Sea Scrolls- is overwhelming that the OT prophecies precede the time of Christ. The Bible has never been "re-made" there is far too much early manuscript evidence. While it'd be convenient for your position, unfortunately reality and truth isn't on your side
@campowt its never been re-made? really? you can't be that stupid, how old are you? because the bible has been re-made at least 4 times. As for your faith there is NO EVIDENCE behind it, faith is to believe WITHOUT EVIDENCE that is the official meaning. If faith had evidence its no longer faith. Please try use some real intellect here, god isn't real just because some books says so, if that's the case then if I made a book about a god who I made up people 500 years from now would buy into it.
@foofiter9097 What do you mean "made up" and how do you get "4 times"? Science supports my faith just as you have faith in science. I know not a single Christian or Christian text/dogma/creed who holds to you personal yet "official" definition of faith. Lots of people like you make up books all the time, they, like you, will be forgotten.
Darwin went back to the very beginng? I must've missed the part where he had a time machine! Thats interesting, you should let more people know that.
@campowt if only time machine could be invented sadly they cannot. You think religion is so great then why is there 4 billion atheists and only 3 billion religious people another fast number of them is Agnostic, and then there is the people who are undecided. If we want to know where we came from evolution, and science are the ways we are going to figure that out. So you think people will forget richard dawkins book "The God Delusion"?
@campowt there is 4 gospels thus basically 4 different writings that are total crap, that's it. As for Faith saying that you have Faith and that we cannot disprove your faith is again an act of desperation. And yes we can disprove your Faith because faith is to believe someone without evidence as I keep saying. Basically if you have Evidence that your wive cheats on you, and you believe her because you have faith. Example strait of KingHeathen himself.
@foofiter9097 Look, you wouldn't go discuss Shakespeare with a lit club if you hadnt even read him. I'm not going to discuss the Bible until you actually read it. Otherwise, I'm just going to go on for eternity telling you the bits an pieces of false information you swallowed from people like kingheathen who despise the truth have no factual basis. If you read it objectively, then I'd be elated to discuss its contents.
@campowt so you wont discus this with KH with because he has studied the bible for 20 sum years? I have read the one titled the bible, none of the others. As for you saying he doesn't know the truth, then how about someone as smart as stephen hawkin? or perhaps Richard Dawkins? KH is a very smart man, the only problem is going against your damn religion automatically makes us "wrong" and that's not a debate that's out of desperation.
@foofiter9097 Wrong. That is precisely why I would discuss it with KH. Though his interpretations are biased and subscholarly, he at least has read it, which I give him much credit for. You've read the title of the Bible? I suggest you read the whole thing. There's only 1.
I've read Hawkings, he at least says we are determined, he's a great scientist but errs in making science answer philosophical questions, though not as inanely as Dawkins does.
@campowt so you believe the bible started off being in English? it wasn't translated to English? because words are lost in translation. As for Dawkins, Dawkins is fighting against Christianity and every other religion as well, he is right to do so imo, there is only one thing on the planet that has killed more people then religion, and that is mosquitoes.
@foofiter9097 Why are you so fond of making arguments for me that are not even mine? The Bible was written in Hebrew, a little Aramaic, and Greek. No words are lost because we still have early Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek manuscripts. Face it, you've run out of excuses.
Wrong, there were more deaths- as Nietzsche predicted- in the 20th cent. in the name of irreligion than all other centuries combined. Mao- 70 mil; Stalin- 60 mil; Abortion in US- 53 mil; Hitler- 50 mil; Pol Pot- 2.5 mil..........
@campowt that's where you are wrong there are more deaths in the name of religion in this century, George W bush jr was religious and had army's murder hundreds of THOUSANDS of innocent people. And how is that a bad thing anyway? your saying its GOOD to kill in the name of religion? As for the bible, I mean the English bible, words are lost in translation time and time again. And more people have been killed in the name of religion then anything else in the world.
@foofiter9097 Bush? really? I'll agree that all those deaths are the fault of A religion- Islam, dont generalize Christianity as all religion. I'm not a math major but I'm sure hundreds of thousands is still way less than hundreds of millions (those killed in the name of anti-religious ideologies in the 20th cent.). I've not run across anything you've said about McGrath in my reading him. And I'd like to take your bet, he's way too intelligent to become an Atheist, or like Dawkins, an Antitheist
@campowt you do realize that Hitler was actually christian right? so was his MANY followers. I would assume that's where you got those numbers from, people argue that was not a christian all the time, yet in fact he was. As for McGrath hes smart because he is christian? really now, the smartest people in the world (Namely Einstein and Stephen Hawkin) are atheist and yet McGrath is so smart he wont be an atheist anymore? Before he was christian he was Atheist, I am sure he will be Atheist again.
@foofiter9097 Good point, could you tell me which of Christs commands was Hitler following? Was it "love thy neighbor"? Clearly he was following a nationalist agenda motvated - read mein kampf- by Neitszche and Darwin in a quest for a superrace.
Where in the Bible does it say nonchristians should be stoned? Cant keep making things up. The verse of calling your brother a fool deserves hell- the word is raca, its motivated by hate, hate is sin, all sin deserves death. Thats why we need a Savior.
@campowt so because he wasn't FOLLOWING a christian command, he isn't christian? since when is that? And as far as you know he could have picked any 1 bible verse justifying his actions. We don't know. So being born deserves death? or masturbating deserves death and yet masturbating is something that EVERYONE DOES. Yet it doesn't say sin deserves death, it says in a verse "he who commits adultery should cut off his hand rather then to burn in hell" Darwin never wanted to kill anyone.
@foofiter9097 Exactly, a Christian is, literally, a follower of Christ. Thats how its been for 2000 yrs.
The wages of sin is death, its not as much what you do as who you are, death is a separation from God- hell.
I'm pretty sure an AGNOSTIC sees the existance of God as unknowable. Never said Darwin wanted to kill people. What I meant was Hitlers intent was to help Natural Selection along, that is, weed out the weaker members of the race to create Nietszche's ubermench or supermen.
@campowt Charles Darwin was an AGNOSTIC meaning he didn't believe the bible, and right he is. But he didn't care that others believed in it because he believes that people will eventually realize he is right and that religion is wrong. So far today 4 billion people realize that, which is a good thing.
@foofiter9097 Perhaps if you prefer, send me your comments through private message so we don't end up overtaking- or at least continue to overtake- this comment board.
@campowt I guess I could do that, in fact I think KH likes seeing this debate if he did not he would have stepped in by now I am sure, but I will send the PM^^.
@campowt the bible makes it clear that if you dont believe your in trouble.supposedly your god told the isrealittes to kill every man woman and child of the cananites and take their land because they didnt believe in him.Hitler,in an interview said that he was just doing to the jews what the catholic church had been doing to them for 2000 years.
@campowt As for Islam how is it there fault? Bush is an EXTREME christian, anyone other then Christian to him should be stoned to death (which it says this in the bible.) Also you know the bible also says "he who says fool shall burn in hell"? well that's a summary of it anyway. I could get the actually verse but I am sure you have no idea which one it is.
@campowt the old T promotes stoning women if they dont scream loud enough doing rape, children who talk back to their parents must be stoned.to eat certain food would be a death sentence as well. Also bare in mind the bible we have today comes from a bad translation from the original greek bible.alot was taken out or mistranslated thus resulting in a confused version
@ranchai100 Firstly, it doesn't "promote" stoning, it actually very much discourages it, yet does permit it. These are cultic regulations that apply to a very people specific group, in a time specific era, with a very specific role as God's holy people. Not written to modern day Christians. Bare in mind the punishments were severe for they had a very direct experience of God.
Give an example of a passage that has been badly translated or omitted? Read the NASB or ESV transliterations.
@campowt But I thought god and his word is unchangable. If thats the case then these laws must pertain to today for anyone who claims they believe in the biblical god.The passage on homosexuality is not found in the original greek, because in ancient greek there was no word for homosexuality. So then 1 must ask well if thats the case where did the translators get this word? The answer in my estimation is the didnt approve of certain things so to forward their own agenda the put in this word.
@ranchai100 They are, indeed, unchangeable. But it certainly does not follow that an order given to a specific people at a specific time for a specific purpose applies to us today. God told Noah to build an ark, I'm not being disobedient for not taking courses in ship-building. Where have you learned about Greek culture? Homosexuality was very prevalent, the word is "arsenokoites" so I'm not saying you cant have your estimation, you can, but its not factual.
@campowt they are 2 different things,1 is doing an act that god supposedly commanded and the other is following a set of laws that according to christians and the bible are unchangable.the bible itself says you cant add or subtract from the bible because if you do you will go to hell.thats at the end of the book of revelations. If you dont follow the laws set out in all of the bible then the bible is not unchangable
@campowt they are 2 different things,1 is doing an act that god supposedly commanded and the other is following a set of laws that according to christians and the bible are unchangable.
@campowt as for the word homosexual, the greek word your using is not from the ancient greek language but the modern. Also if you say the bible is perfect you must follow every law in it,you cant cherry pick.At the end of the book of revelation it makes it clear you cant add to or delete from any part of the bible, therefore you must follow it all
@ranchai100 Following God's laws and keeping His commands are, in essence, one and the same. It really comes down to obedience. I agree with you, we must obey what God tells us to, it does not follow that we shouldn't be wise and study hard what it is God told us. Some commands were for specific people or peoples, some were for all. By studying them carefully we know which apply to which, therefore there is no such adding or subtracting from God's Word.
@ranchai100 Cont... I do not know ancient Greek, you may be right on that point. Still, I do know Koine Greek, the Greek the New Testament is written in, and that word did exist, its what Paul used in 1 Corinthians.
@campowt Also Richard Dawkins created the book called: The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. You should read that as well. As for KH, I don't think you could beat him in an argument. Seeming as I doubt even you have done any "research" on the bible.
@foofiter9097 I'm familiar with Dawkins book, you may want to check out Alister McGrath (Phd in molecular biophysics and Doctor of Divinity from Oxford) his book is "The Dawkins Delusion" You'll see why Dawkins has no credibility.
@campowt I have heard of McGrath, and he himself doesn't actually believe in the bible on some parts, however he does believe there is a god. Him and Dawkins had a very peaceful debate on the subject. And he even said that Dawkins was a very smart man, he never once slandered Dawkins name on anything. As for his book McGrath made that in defense of things that Dawkins said. He never once said Dawkins has no credibility he even said the chances of a god is astronomical.
@campowt Even Mcgrath said he only believes there is a god because of how beautiful the earth is, he believes that the chances the earth could be so beautiful without a god is also high. As for Mcgrath himself, he used to be Atheist, and I bet money he will one day return to being Atheist once he realizes the bible is full of crap he might even make a book about how Richard Dawkins is correct.
@campowt god clearly is an unseeing force as nobody nor anything has ever seen him, if you HAVE then you are either in denial or you are delusional. I mean people have constantly proven everything you know wrong, and yet you still think faith>evidence. And how is it we are born into sin? how can a baby sin? god seems like an asshole to say that he forgives all sins but yet a baby has sinned the very moment it is born? yeah that sounds like a great being to me -_-. There is no need for a god.
@foofiter9097 I think by "unseeing" you intend to say "unseen"? Again, God is spirit, not material, for the last time, you shouldn't expect to see Him like you see a material body.
I dont take peoples opinions as proof that what I believe is wrong. My faith is founded on evidence.
Yes, you are not a sinner because you sin, you sin because you are already a sinner. We are born that way, but God loved us so much that He came and died in our place so we wouldnt have to perish if we believe in Him
@campowt no the theory of evolution, and SCIENCE is NOT an opinion, its a REALITY. Sir if you think these are opinions about that, then you are not thinking clearly and religion has already altered your thinking process. Evolution has evidence behind it, Charles Darwin gave PROOF that adam and eve where not real, he went back to the very begin in humans when he researched it, and found that there was no adam and eve made of the materials the bible says they where made from.
@campowt the bible account for only 6,000 years, where is the other 194,000 years that we can prove we have been here? where is it at? Exactly believing in the bible means only one thing, you stick to that answer and all you will ever say "no we have only been here for 6,000 years" when we have EVIDENCE, not opinions, but EVIDENCE showing we have been here for AT LEAST 200,000 years.
@foofiter9097 I cant recall what materials besides dirt the Bible claims Adam was made from. Not sure where you get that 6000 yrs figure, could you cite that? I beginning to believe you've never read the Bible, could you actually be arguing about a text you've never read before? Please read it first then discuss it, you'd save me a lot of time telling you what you didn't read. I'd appreciate it.
@campowt the bible time line dates back just over 6000 years, not any further, and it says god created the earth, nothing of the universe. I have read enough of the bible to know what they teach. They teach you that you don't go to church you go to hell. You must have someone teach you the bible but yet as a child the "holy ghost" and the "holy spirit" let you know how to interpret it. Look the bible is false. And faith is to believe without evidence.
@foofiter9097 Yeah, exactly as I thought, you haven't read a single page of the Bible, your abject ignorance of it would make it an embarrassment to claim otherwise. None of your biblical claims exist. Your chemicals and chromosone prattle is pointless, totally irrelevant. It wouldnt matter if there were 100 billion atheists and 0 God believers, it still wouldnt make it true, its an ad populum fallacy. Sorry, but modern science is a creation of Western Christianity, its not your friend.
@campowt and there is chemicals in dirt that are not in the human body, and we can date humans back 200,000 years ago by looking how long the "Y" chromosome has been in humans, we can date it back 60,000 years in men and 200,000 years in women, and besides this women come first, even in the womb you start off as a women, if the bible is correct that man came first, then why does a women come first in the womb?
@campowt it is not your personhood, because your brain controls EVERYTHING you do. Ever watched lovingdoubt? she has a perfect video explaining it. She thought at one point she had memory's implanted into her that where not hers, she thought she was a different person, it took her some reassuring that she was not. My point is the brain controls everything, you can even lose the ability to love. This guy got in a car wreck and damaged his frontal lobe he is now unable to love has been for 8 years
@campowt anyone can look at the sun, is it a good idea? no it is not, we do understand how something SO COMPLEX got there, we know how the sun is made and what it is made of. Now if something so complex is in our galaxy (and about 1.4 billion other galaxy's as well) then that would mean god is FAR more complex then the sun, and yet we cannot see him? that makes no sense, if we could see or perceive a god and see him with our naked eye, this debate wouldn't be happening right now.
@campowt and the bible says we are made in his image, now if something so complex that he is more complex then the universe or even a human, then how would he look anything like us? the answer is he would not, we would need to evolve 1 billion times over to be that complex, and even then we could not be nearly as complex as the universe around us. So if this is the case, why is it that the bible makes such claims? back 6000 years ago the bible wasn't questioned, now people can think on there own
1 Cor. 11:14 doesn't help much when you look at Samson, who was a Nazerene and they went long periods of time without cutting their hair to show devotion to Yahweh/Jehovah/God. So Jesus having long hair is more biblically correct, the Jehovah's Witness need to update lol.
@HybridD91 Damn, I have to tell my mom she can't wear braids when she decides going back to religious meetings. I wonder how many black women feel about that verse?
I find other peoples deconversion stories interesting. Probably because mine was so simple, fast, and didn't require any 'soul searching' or any sort of drama. Read the bible at the age of 8, recognised it as nonsense. Came to the conclusion that either 1. not written or inspired by any god. or 2. any god that would write or inspire that insipid thing isn't worth worshipping.
Good video King, I can see why I like you... we have a lot in common... we just have different 'endings' to our respective journeys but our paths were very similar.
@HybridD91 I wasn't attempting to convince anybody of anything lol, I was just giving a excerpt from the bible and commenting upon it. I do also enjoy your excerpt too.
I guess I'm lucky in a way, when I was young I asked my SS teacher what happened to stillborn babies because my aunt had a miscarriage. I was told the baby went to hell PERIOD, and if I doubted this I would go to hell also. I lost my faith there and then.
more anti-religion, less football. I have a question your majesty- I think there is a god, but I also belief in evolution, I dont think any part of the bible is nonfiction, and I do not cringe at eclipses. I guess I'm semi-reasonable, so here's the question; are your videos anti-theism or anti-religion?
@tilemacro when I say 'semi-reasonable", it means I think there is a god based on the lack of an explanation pre-big bang, and the fact science has yet to create life from basic elements, but at the same time I am not a foaming at the mouth alambama bible thumper. I guess it's like being semi-crazy, it's just the right amount, not too much, not too little. don't look to far into it.
Scanning through the comments, the hardest thing for Christians to accept is that their Bible might not be infallible (and protestants place a belief in biblical infallibility and personal interpretation that make papal claims seem tame and restrained by comparison). What i have noticed is that the main issue is FEAR: Believers are genuinely afraid that what they believe may be false, and that will destroy their entire world-view, and they will do ANYTHING to preserve it -- even believe lies.
I was catholic. When I was a little kid I noticed that gave me the creeps. We would go to church, alot of nice people there. There were these 2 old ladies, nice as could be.I thought for sure they were going to heaven. 1 day we got a new priest. Thing was , he was black. i saw the 2 old ladies faces go to nice to almost demonic looking. The hate shining thru. I was 6 years old at the time.I thought how could they flip like that, there is something wrong here. The priest had to move on
@flubno Yeah, its an interesting thing isn't it... to watch the preprogrammed crap step in....
My daughter was talking with a new friend on video cam... she collects limited edition dolls and so did this other kid. some days ago this other kid asked her why she wasn't in church since it was Sunday morning... she replied that she doesn't go to church and that churches sorta smell like old people.
the other girl flipped on the spot... the tirade of abuse, insults and language frightened her.
I noticed that too. The Bible is actually a nasty book. I noticed almost all of the barbaric, bronze age savage stuff in the Bible is never spoke about in church by the priests.Just conviently forgot about. I plan one day to read the bible, cover to cover again. This time i'm going to out line crazy retarded shit. I have a boring job that gives me alot of time to read.
that's how i realised the nonsense of the bible myself, by reading it independently of being told what to read. i only stopped believing in a god 5/6 years ago. sad waste of forty years.
@blinkyreadsbooks Man...I feel your pain on MS software... format the machine and put XP on it...vista is shit, windows 7 is a monstrous resource hog...but what can you do?...Linux is only really good for work stuff...unless you want to spend 50% of your time as a sysadmin in your own home...and macs cost too much...
I formated every new machine in the house and put XP on all of them...friggin Microsoft...where the hell did they ever get the idea we buy computers just to run their bloated OS?
@blinkyreadsbooks In fact religion is a side effect of an property you have, the ability to work with other humans and obey them regardless of personal outcome.
Without that facility we would not have cities, communication, computers, economics etc... but the side effect is that many of us do what we are told because we make the an assumption that those telling us know what they are doing.
Many times that is a correct assumption, but its an assumption, so many times it is wrong.
@blinkyreadsbooks You are right...there is contentment in the security of knowledge you find attractive and socially beneficial. For that reason many soldiers during combat refuse to fire back preferring the anonymity of the foxhole. (Marshall: men under fire)
But 'everyone' takes the bulk of their knowledge from their childhood and teens... and the vast majority of every decision is made on the basis of information we receive with no evidence. Including Political, social, religious etc.
I agree with you that they were focusing on your grandad'S church because all the christians that I have met and when I was one; You hit the nail right on the head towards the end. Everyone likes to believe that their church is right while ignoring the wrongs in their own way.
I was just curious and was hoping you could straighten something out for me...
When you say you read the Bible and were still a believer, what exactly did you "believe" in? What were you a believer of? Biblical infallibility? The gospels? The OT? The NT? That God exists? In your church? In the Church?Your preacher? Just looking for clarification. I love watching the videos because they make me search out answers that deepen my faith. 1 Peter 3:15
@tygr86 I am not proud of most christains however you my good sir do take the cake ( Always be ready to make your defense for the love you have for your lord and god) See most christains fail to read their own book.
@tygr86 I think what he is saying is that if you actually answer your questions by reading the bible for yourself and don't listen to other interpretations of it, then it becomes an anti religious book.
Were you aware that the bible was the first book printed when the printing press was invented but the last one to be made available to the general public?
So the question that should be asked of Christian priests and pastors is 'should Christians read the bible and interpret it themselves?'
@tygr86 I started off as a young earth creationist biblical literalist. I progressed through several new variations of that as it became clear that each thing I had believed was a lie.
"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." – Revelation 12:11
Actually atheists are only realizing now that the actual religion is opposed naturally by other mental properties of the human mind...
Religious belief arises through the facility of 'suggestion' and the human ability to work together but opposing that is natural curiosity and a desire for knowledge. Some people have more of one than the other.
This is also where people get their political beliefs and why science needs to put structures in place to avoid that natural bias.
KingHeathen... it is for the very reason that you yourself explained there...and that most atheist repeat that I actually support the teaching of religion in schools... I've been atheistic all my life... so I never taught there was god, or goblins, never believed in santa as a kid. etc.
Teaching religion in schools alongside history, science, math etc. would lead to the destruction of religion in a single generation. Religion has no armament against an individuals ability to reason.
@johndebbra It won't be long now, that you will have many problems with the teachings you heard over your life from clergy, parents and friends. Very soon, you will see so many inconsistencies and falsehoods pushed on you. One conclusion will be reached and when that happens, the freedom you will feel will be monumental. Good luck and ask many questions. The more you ask, the more easy to escape the delusion.
@johndebbra well stop believing everything and go out and find out what you want. You have an extreme advantage over kingheathen and he might agree with me, you have the internet.
You can research everything many times faster and more indepth than he could.... you have instant access to the qu'ran, bible, bhagavad gita, and every science known to humanity with sources... you are rich in knowledge...kingheathen was poor...
However from what I know of it, deconversion will also bring problems.
@MumblingMickey I definitely agree. When I deconverted, I had to do it the hard way. There weren't any books readily available spelling out the contradictions and historical manipulations. You had to find it yourself and piece it all together.
@johndebbra Thanks for sharing that. It's always refreshing to know that there are people like yourself that is actually paying attention and willing to question their beliefs. Also, thanks for watching...even though your original intention wasn't so grand. I'm glad you've hung around and hope to see more comments from you in the future.
I have wanted to type this for a while but was hesitant as did not want to insult people with remarks.anyway when i first started watching king heathen i went it saying to myself ok lets here what this idiot has to say and planned to laugh it off.but after watching a bit i said to myself maybe this guy is smarter then i thought. I came to this sight as a believer honestly i can not in good concience say i do not believe but i dont believe what the bible says now because king open my eyes..cont.
At my church they had sanctions against jewelry. My grandfather made sure that his glasses were black only, no gold trim. LOL my dear mother broke the rules she had no jewelry on but would wear pins...LOL Also my grandfather would only wear black and when folks would wear a bright tie he called them hollywood...LOL
Hey nice job. I like videos like this. Nice to see you on Heathen. I left because I didn't see people living as they preached..Then I realized everything else. Heathen you cold have a TV. You just had to roll it into the closet when members or minister came for a visit. They told the kids in my Youth Group they were going to hell for wearing pants. It put me over the edge..
I think quite a few of us can relate to that kind of experience. I began to question religion at an early age but it took many years for me to have a break through and finally allow myself to let go of the dogma and realise that I don't have to believe without evidence. The irony is that it was only then that I truly felt born again! And I've never looked back. I'll choose a free mind and a truthful spirit any day. I'm an Agnostic/Atheist because it is logical that I be so. No religion required.
Nicely done KingHeathen… It has been said that the quickest way to de-convert a christian to an atheist is to have them actually read the whole bible. ;O)
Same here! Even as a child, I had questions, and none of the stuff they "spoon fed" me at church really made sense. It wasn't until I read the rest of the bible that I actually answered my own questions and REALLY GOT that religion is nothing more than mind control for the sheeple.
Same here! Even as a child, I had questions, and none of the stuff they "spoon fed" me at church really made sense. It wasn't until I read the rest of the bible that I actually answered my own questions and REALLY GOT that religion is mind control for the "flock" = sheeple.
When you said "I did the worst thing you could do as a believer..." I thought you were gonna say "I critically questioned my church leader." That's usually the worst.
I grew up in a fundamentalist Pentecostal church. Then I realized that the whole modesty thing was a lie passed down through tradition. Then I began to realize most of the dogma was passed down through tradition. And thus began my journey to Atheism.

Looks like you enjoy the grog a bit.

I feel bad for the you and the preachers you went to. Neither you or the preachers were correct. These questions do have answers to them. Coming from you I would expect you to question something more along the lines of the Trinity, or the divinity of Christ, or predestination vs free will. Pants and long hair..........
glues1 11 months ago
@glues1 way to miss the point!
Are you suggesting that you think that I DIDN'T question the Trinity? the divinity of Jesus? predestination? free will?
Did you even REMOTELY pay attention to the part of this video which explained that it was a DIRECT response to SPECIFIC comments aimed at the previous video?

Wow, Mr.
It's all about a PERSONAL relationship.
sparklevi 1 year ago
@sparklevi uh...your story sounds nothing like mine. The only thing that was revealed to me was how unlikely any god or gods were.
Just curious...WHICH god revealed himself to you? How do you know it was him?
KingHeathen 1 year ago

@XxxpotheadsmokerxxX Why? Who is he?
bnbalenda 7 months ago
i have to say this and tell me if im wrong.
XxxpotheadsmokerxxX 1 year ago
@XxxpotheadsmokerxxX I don't say your wrong but maybe just uninformed. The Bible does tell us how to live all throughout the old and new testament. Once a person places their faith in Christ by their own freewill what they have done is turn or repent of their own way's and now seek the things of God. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Paul speaking to the church at Corinth. Say's they've been bought by the Blood of Christ and they now belong to God. So we glorify Him in our bodies and spirits.
Mr308winmag 1 year ago
king heathen God loves you and wants to save you even after you've mocked Him and His Word.
Mr308winmag 1 year ago
I was raised in a fundamental christian church. Said the "sinners prayer" the whole thing. But never desired to serve God. When I was 23 a pastor questioned my salvation experience and showed me John 6:44. Noone had ever shown me that. You can't understand because you've rejected The Holy Spirit. 1Corinthians 2:11-16. God's Word is true whether we believe it or agree with it because it's His Word not ours. The Holy Spirit will show you this when and only when you become Born Again. Turn to God!
Mr308winmag 1 year ago
@Mr308winmag Yeah, that wasn't my experience. I didn't reject the Holy Spirit. I even experienced everything that they all told me would happen when I received it.
Oh, and "god's word is true...because it's his word"...that's circular logic and that equals fail.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen You have rejected the Holy Spirit and "God's Word" which is true whether you agree or not. The "circular logic" brings it all back to Him. Psalm 119:89 tells us His Word is settled forever in heaven. No matter what man does he just can't get rid of it can he? Luke 16:16-17. The law of God will not fail. By the way could you post some of the contradictions you find in God's Word? I'm not at all looking for an argument, but your trying to mock my Savior. Galatians 6:7 thks.
Mr308winmag 1 year ago
@Mr308winmag You have no idea what "circular logic" means, do you? Wow. It's not even worth the effort at this point.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@KingHeathen you seem to be using the political tactic of attacking a person's intelligence. So to answer the question yes I do know what circular logic means. I'm not going to attack you personally and will not reply again. If you read the scrips I posted you would see why you're not a born again christian. If you ever were you still would be. You had a form of godliness ie going to church. But denied the power thereof. 2 Timothy 3:5 I will let you alone. Still waiting for Bible contradictions.

i dismissed him as i would any conspiracy theory nutter, well in fact that is what he is.
yellowdart137 1 year ago
This is the biggest problem with a strict interpretation of the modern bible. Many of the translations are WRONG. Just comparing a King James bible with a Catholic Youth bible will get different verses. The bible is the word of God, but it has been tainted by the tongues of men throughout history. If we still had the original words of the people who taught the bible not what was written down almost a century later we would probably have something far different than anything we have today.
Nightrider1367 1 year ago
@Nightrider1367 Can you point out where the translations are wrong? There are different ways of saying something, but if theres any question we still have the greek to go back to. Can you give an example of it being tainted that would merit discrediting the whole text? The words actually were written down- as the evidence shows- in the first century, as inconvenient this is to your claim we'd have something far different today, unfortunately, there's that indomitable nuisance we call reality.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt I'm not talking about discrediting the whole text. I am talking about how when you read the bible you have to keep in mind that while some passages were meant to be taken literally, Leviticus is full of these passages, others were meant to be metaphorical, almost the entire book of Revelation. If you are a strict believer in that what the bible says is completely true and there are no fallacies in it you are deluding yourself. One word can change the whole meaning of a sentence.
Nightrider1367 1 year ago
@Nightrider1367 I dont think anyone doubts that the Bible is fraught with rhetorical devices. That doesn't mean interpreting it strictly will lead to error, quite the opposite. One can, and ought, to strictly interpret a metaphor as a metaphor and strictly interpret literally a literal statement. Good Bible expositors seek to understand what the was the authors intent. Truth is a dangerous thing to handle, it must be done carefully and not lightly.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt And that is where I am saying there is a problem. There are so many fundamentalist churches that take those rhetorical devices and try to use them literally. I will mention Leviticus yet again the laws in that book are archaic yet some churches still try to enforce them today. It is those churches that drive people from God, our host for example. Some people don't understand that the bible is a divine work inspired by God and expressed through the imperfect tongue of man.
Nightrider1367 1 year ago
@Nightrider1367 Ok I see what your saying, and I do agree with you. Thats another error of KH's is that he thinks he can interpret these scriptures on his own, better than someone trained in hermeneutics, that is someone trained in knowing the history, context, literary style and so on. Granted, his pastor, along with some "fundamentalist churches" you've mentioned, may be poorly trained and grievously susceptible to error. But an imperfect tongue by no means vitiates the inerrant Word of God.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt I don't think it is whether or not he understands the bible, because from what I see he has a pretty good understanding and is probably better than most preachers I know, he doesn't believe. There were many who saw Jesus first hand and didn't believe Him so it makes sense that there would be those today who don't believe either. Have you seen his earlier vids? The man is intelligent and he is just describing what he sees.
Sorry KH for talking like your not there it seems a bit rude.
Nightrider1367 1 year ago
@Nightrider1367 Yes, I've watched many of his vids. Yes, he's very intelligent. However the most intelligent error is no better than the least intelligent truth. For example there were extremely intelligent men working with tremendous facts to formulate an incredibly intricate and highly accurate geocentric model. 11th cent. St. Anselm said faith needs to seek understanding, they are not antithetical. There is a point for both Atheists and Theist where reason leaves off, and a faith is chosen.
campowt 1 year ago
@Nightrider1367 No need to apologize. I have stopped replying to campowt as he's proven himself to be a waste of time and incapable of questioning his preconceived notions even when utterly dismantled.

Given the oceanic sediment and topographical evidence that the canyon was actually carved out, not by a stream, but a massive flood, I wonder what book talks about a certain flood about that long ago?
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt you are very mistaken, the ICE AGE shaped the grand canyon and MANY other canyons, its hard to say for sure but the sedements show that it was eroded in most places by water, but in other places by ICE. The flood that happened in noahs ark simply is not possible there is not enough water and the planet. And according to the bible there was no water from the sky's? really you believe that, so you can say that basically before recently there was NO process of evaporation?

connerjd 1 year ago

You're focusing on the wheel and not the road, thats why you went the wrong way.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt that's where your wrong, he seeked his own answers, as in a defense, not a challenge. He started asking challenges if you want to call them that when he started to realize that the bible only makes sense when you see it as there is no god, or see him as imaginary. Now the point is you can conclude there is no answer if the preacher doesn't have the answer but the better thing to do is to seek an answer for yourself, and that's what he did.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Where, precisely, am I wrong? Please read what I wrote more carefully. Whether or not one seeks a challenge AS a defense or not is irrelevant, a challenge is still a challenge.
It is sheer imbecility to claim that only if God is not real does the Bible make any sense. You might as well construct a model of the solar system without the sun. And God is like the sun, you cannot look directly at Him, but without him you cannot factually look at anything else.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt he didn't seek a challenge to begin with, you need to read mine more carefully, he seeked out a defense at first, NOT a challenge. How can you call a defense a challenge to the bible? a defense is a challenge to anything not related to the bible. And yeah you read the entire bible and give me 100 different points and show me that those make sense when you believe there is a god. As for your cannot look at the sun theory, that's wrong you can look at it not like god.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Take the Canon for example, a defense would be FF Bruce, a challenge would be Dan Brown. Who you listen to is your choice, but its predicated on your worldview.
The point with the sun was an analogy, not a theory. And your lightyears off on a tangent that has nothing to do with the point. Nonetheless, as analogies work, you see the material sun with your material eyes, God is spirit and is seen with spiritual eyes. Yours are blind, which is a condition of the heart.
Peace.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt there is another problem there, he cannot be spiritual if he created the world, BECAUSE something that is not seen could not create the universe nor anything for that matter. Have you seen anything that isn't seen with your eyes? they are called atoms or cells, they are not seen with the human eye, which means they are the one thing you could ever refer to as a god.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 We make a distinction between creating and begetting. What one creates is of a different essence, what one begets is of the same substance. When I was younger I carved a wooden car. Are you telling me that BECAUSE I'm not made of wood I couldn't have created a wood car? A tree can beget a tree, Jesus was begotten of God, of the same essence.
Invisibility doesnt make a thing God, though an atom is, indeed, invisible, its still, in fact, of material essence, not spiritual, not God.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt what exatcly is a spirit? how about watching King Heathens video about that BEFORE you bring that up. Secondly one cannot prove there that jesus was here, let alone that he was the son of god, just because marry claimed to be a virgin you automatically assume "son of god". Also jesus wasn't spirtual, he was able to be seen with human eyes, which means that part makes no sense if he is in fact gods son, then he should be as god is unseen and unheard. And besides the bible is crap.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 I couldnt really define spirit in less complicated terms, I can define it in contrast to what its not, that is, material. It's your personhood/life, you dont have a spirit you are a spirit, you have a body. Plenty of reliable historians doubt Jesus was the Son of God, but none, to be sure, doubt He existed. He could be seen because He was man also- thats a much longer discussion- I believe on much more evidence than the virgin birth. Your last proposition is an unsubstantiated bias
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt its not physically possible nor is it "spirtitually" possible for a virgin to give birth to a man, it IS (has been thought of in science) possible for a virgin to give birth to a girl, but only if a very rare thing occurs, that would be an egg during menstrual cycle splitting half way and producing a "x" xx = female. That is the only way it happens. She gave birth to a boy, its not possible for her to have done so and be a virgin, it has never happened in the 200,000 humans have lived.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 This virgin birth explanation horrendously misses the point. We are not talking about what is possible for a human to accomplish, but what God is capable of. With God anything is possible. Therefore it is a fallacy to conclude that since something is impossible for a human then God must not exist. It's just absurd thinking.
Yeah the brain thinks and controls your body, but its not your spirit/life. Whats the difference between a dead brain and a live one?
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt it does not miss the point, my point is this: if god actually made her pregnant (which is highly unlikely) then why was it she jumped to that conclution that her child was the "son" of god? its simple really, because she was a none(I hope you know what I mean) and being as they are not allowed to have sex, if she was supposedly found out to have had sex it would not end well for her. But yet you believe it is far more likely that a unseeing force made her pregnant? where is the proof.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Seriously? You're claiming Mary was a "nun"(???) Why is it highly unlikely for her to conceive through the Holy Spirit? For this was precisely prophesied hundreds of years prior. I never said God was an unseeing force.
Whether or not you believe the flood is true, really doesnt matter. What does matter is for you to see God, you wont see Him till you see your need for Him, you wont see your need for Him till you realize you've sinned and are under His wrath and need to repent.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt it is highly unlikely BECAUSE SEX IS THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE CHILDREN. I cannot believe you can't see that, the chance that there IS a god is LITTERALLY 1/100,000,000,000,000 and yet you say WITHOUT ANY PROOF that she gave birth to the son of god. I am telling you the bible could have made those claims AFTER it happened, nobody can say they didn't because people have been re-making the bible since it came out, you really believe they didn't add that info in later?
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Ok, read this very slowly for I'm not repeating it again. God is not a human, what is impossible for man is possible for God. Your misuse of "literally" and arbitrary number is nugatory to the point. The evidence- like the Dead Sea Scrolls- is overwhelming that the OT prophecies precede the time of Christ. The Bible has never been "re-made" there is far too much early manuscript evidence. While it'd be convenient for your position, unfortunately reality and truth isn't on your side
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt its never been re-made? really? you can't be that stupid, how old are you? because the bible has been re-made at least 4 times. As for your faith there is NO EVIDENCE behind it, faith is to believe WITHOUT EVIDENCE that is the official meaning. If faith had evidence its no longer faith. Please try use some real intellect here, god isn't real just because some books says so, if that's the case then if I made a book about a god who I made up people 500 years from now would buy into it.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 What do you mean "made up" and how do you get "4 times"? Science supports my faith just as you have faith in science. I know not a single Christian or Christian text/dogma/creed who holds to you personal yet "official" definition of faith. Lots of people like you make up books all the time, they, like you, will be forgotten.
Darwin went back to the very beginng? I must've missed the part where he had a time machine! Thats interesting, you should let more people know that.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt if only time machine could be invented sadly they cannot. You think religion is so great then why is there 4 billion atheists and only 3 billion religious people another fast number of them is Agnostic, and then there is the people who are undecided. If we want to know where we came from evolution, and science are the ways we are going to figure that out. So you think people will forget richard dawkins book "The God Delusion"?
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt there is 4 gospels thus basically 4 different writings that are total crap, that's it. As for Faith saying that you have Faith and that we cannot disprove your faith is again an act of desperation. And yes we can disprove your Faith because faith is to believe someone without evidence as I keep saying. Basically if you have Evidence that your wive cheats on you, and you believe her because you have faith. Example strait of KingHeathen himself.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Look, you wouldn't go discuss Shakespeare with a lit club if you hadnt even read him. I'm not going to discuss the Bible until you actually read it. Otherwise, I'm just going to go on for eternity telling you the bits an pieces of false information you swallowed from people like kingheathen who despise the truth have no factual basis. If you read it objectively, then I'd be elated to discuss its contents.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt so you wont discus this with KH with because he has studied the bible for 20 sum years? I have read the one titled the bible, none of the others. As for you saying he doesn't know the truth, then how about someone as smart as stephen hawkin? or perhaps Richard Dawkins? KH is a very smart man, the only problem is going against your damn religion automatically makes us "wrong" and that's not a debate that's out of desperation.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Wrong. That is precisely why I would discuss it with KH. Though his interpretations are biased and subscholarly, he at least has read it, which I give him much credit for. You've read the title of the Bible? I suggest you read the whole thing. There's only 1.
I've read Hawkings, he at least says we are determined, he's a great scientist but errs in making science answer philosophical questions, though not as inanely as Dawkins does.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt so you believe the bible started off being in English? it wasn't translated to English? because words are lost in translation. As for Dawkins, Dawkins is fighting against Christianity and every other religion as well, he is right to do so imo, there is only one thing on the planet that has killed more people then religion, and that is mosquitoes.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Why are you so fond of making arguments for me that are not even mine? The Bible was written in Hebrew, a little Aramaic, and Greek. No words are lost because we still have early Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek manuscripts. Face it, you've run out of excuses.
Wrong, there were more deaths- as Nietzsche predicted- in the 20th cent. in the name of irreligion than all other centuries combined. Mao- 70 mil; Stalin- 60 mil; Abortion in US- 53 mil; Hitler- 50 mil; Pol Pot- 2.5 mil..........
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt that's where you are wrong there are more deaths in the name of religion in this century, George W bush jr was religious and had army's murder hundreds of THOUSANDS of innocent people. And how is that a bad thing anyway? your saying its GOOD to kill in the name of religion? As for the bible, I mean the English bible, words are lost in translation time and time again. And more people have been killed in the name of religion then anything else in the world.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Bush? really? I'll agree that all those deaths are the fault of A religion- Islam, dont generalize Christianity as all religion. I'm not a math major but I'm sure hundreds of thousands is still way less than hundreds of millions (those killed in the name of anti-religious ideologies in the 20th cent.). I've not run across anything you've said about McGrath in my reading him. And I'd like to take your bet, he's way too intelligent to become an Atheist, or like Dawkins, an Antitheist
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt you do realize that Hitler was actually christian right? so was his MANY followers. I would assume that's where you got those numbers from, people argue that was not a christian all the time, yet in fact he was. As for McGrath hes smart because he is christian? really now, the smartest people in the world (Namely Einstein and Stephen Hawkin) are atheist and yet McGrath is so smart he wont be an atheist anymore? Before he was christian he was Atheist, I am sure he will be Atheist again.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Good point, could you tell me which of Christs commands was Hitler following? Was it "love thy neighbor"? Clearly he was following a nationalist agenda motvated - read mein kampf- by Neitszche and Darwin in a quest for a superrace.
Where in the Bible does it say nonchristians should be stoned? Cant keep making things up. The verse of calling your brother a fool deserves hell- the word is raca, its motivated by hate, hate is sin, all sin deserves death. Thats why we need a Savior.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt so because he wasn't FOLLOWING a christian command, he isn't christian? since when is that? And as far as you know he could have picked any 1 bible verse justifying his actions. We don't know. So being born deserves death? or masturbating deserves death and yet masturbating is something that EVERYONE DOES. Yet it doesn't say sin deserves death, it says in a verse "he who commits adultery should cut off his hand rather then to burn in hell" Darwin never wanted to kill anyone.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Exactly, a Christian is, literally, a follower of Christ. Thats how its been for 2000 yrs.
The wages of sin is death, its not as much what you do as who you are, death is a separation from God- hell.
I'm pretty sure an AGNOSTIC sees the existance of God as unknowable. Never said Darwin wanted to kill people. What I meant was Hitlers intent was to help Natural Selection along, that is, weed out the weaker members of the race to create Nietszche's ubermench or supermen.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt Charles Darwin was an AGNOSTIC meaning he didn't believe the bible, and right he is. But he didn't care that others believed in it because he believes that people will eventually realize he is right and that religion is wrong. So far today 4 billion people realize that, which is a good thing.

@campowt the bible makes it clear that if you dont believe your in trouble.supposedly your god told the isrealittes to kill every man woman and child of the cananites and take their land because they didnt believe in him.Hitler,in an interview said that he was just doing to the jews what the catholic church had been doing to them for 2000 years.
ranchai100 1 year ago
@campowt As for Islam how is it there fault? Bush is an EXTREME christian, anyone other then Christian to him should be stoned to death (which it says this in the bible.) Also you know the bible also says "he who says fool shall burn in hell"? well that's a summary of it anyway. I could get the actually verse but I am sure you have no idea which one it is.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt the old T promotes stoning women if they dont scream loud enough doing rape, children who talk back to their parents must be stoned.to eat certain food would be a death sentence as well. Also bare in mind the bible we have today comes from a bad translation from the original greek bible.alot was taken out or mistranslated thus resulting in a confused version
ranchai100 1 year ago
@ranchai100 Firstly, it doesn't "promote" stoning, it actually very much discourages it, yet does permit it. These are cultic regulations that apply to a very people specific group, in a time specific era, with a very specific role as God's holy people. Not written to modern day Christians. Bare in mind the punishments were severe for they had a very direct experience of God.
Give an example of a passage that has been badly translated or omitted? Read the NASB or ESV transliterations.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt But I thought god and his word is unchangable. If thats the case then these laws must pertain to today for anyone who claims they believe in the biblical god.The passage on homosexuality is not found in the original greek, because in ancient greek there was no word for homosexuality. So then 1 must ask well if thats the case where did the translators get this word? The answer in my estimation is the didnt approve of certain things so to forward their own agenda the put in this word.
ranchai100 1 year ago
@ranchai100 They are, indeed, unchangeable. But it certainly does not follow that an order given to a specific people at a specific time for a specific purpose applies to us today. God told Noah to build an ark, I'm not being disobedient for not taking courses in ship-building. Where have you learned about Greek culture? Homosexuality was very prevalent, the word is "arsenokoites" so I'm not saying you cant have your estimation, you can, but its not factual.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt they are 2 different things,1 is doing an act that god supposedly commanded and the other is following a set of laws that according to christians and the bible are unchangable.the bible itself says you cant add or subtract from the bible because if you do you will go to hell.thats at the end of the book of revelations. If you dont follow the laws set out in all of the bible then the bible is not unchangable
ranchai100 1 year ago
@campowt they are 2 different things,1 is doing an act that god supposedly commanded and the other is following a set of laws that according to christians and the bible are unchangable.
ranchai100 1 year ago
@campowt as for the word homosexual, the greek word your using is not from the ancient greek language but the modern. Also if you say the bible is perfect you must follow every law in it,you cant cherry pick.At the end of the book of revelation it makes it clear you cant add to or delete from any part of the bible, therefore you must follow it all
ranchai100 1 year ago
@ranchai100 Following God's laws and keeping His commands are, in essence, one and the same. It really comes down to obedience. I agree with you, we must obey what God tells us to, it does not follow that we shouldn't be wise and study hard what it is God told us. Some commands were for specific people or peoples, some were for all. By studying them carefully we know which apply to which, therefore there is no such adding or subtracting from God's Word.
campowt 1 year ago
@ranchai100 Cont... I do not know ancient Greek, you may be right on that point. Still, I do know Koine Greek, the Greek the New Testament is written in, and that word did exist, its what Paul used in 1 Corinthians.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt Also Richard Dawkins created the book called: The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. You should read that as well. As for KH, I don't think you could beat him in an argument. Seeming as I doubt even you have done any "research" on the bible.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 I'm familiar with Dawkins book, you may want to check out Alister McGrath (Phd in molecular biophysics and Doctor of Divinity from Oxford) his book is "The Dawkins Delusion" You'll see why Dawkins has no credibility.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt I have heard of McGrath, and he himself doesn't actually believe in the bible on some parts, however he does believe there is a god. Him and Dawkins had a very peaceful debate on the subject. And he even said that Dawkins was a very smart man, he never once slandered Dawkins name on anything. As for his book McGrath made that in defense of things that Dawkins said. He never once said Dawkins has no credibility he even said the chances of a god is astronomical.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt Even Mcgrath said he only believes there is a god because of how beautiful the earth is, he believes that the chances the earth could be so beautiful without a god is also high. As for Mcgrath himself, he used to be Atheist, and I bet money he will one day return to being Atheist once he realizes the bible is full of crap he might even make a book about how Richard Dawkins is correct.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt god clearly is an unseeing force as nobody nor anything has ever seen him, if you HAVE then you are either in denial or you are delusional. I mean people have constantly proven everything you know wrong, and yet you still think faith>evidence. And how is it we are born into sin? how can a baby sin? god seems like an asshole to say that he forgives all sins but yet a baby has sinned the very moment it is born? yeah that sounds like a great being to me -_-. There is no need for a god.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 I think by "unseeing" you intend to say "unseen"? Again, God is spirit, not material, for the last time, you shouldn't expect to see Him like you see a material body.
I dont take peoples opinions as proof that what I believe is wrong. My faith is founded on evidence.
Yes, you are not a sinner because you sin, you sin because you are already a sinner. We are born that way, but God loved us so much that He came and died in our place so we wouldnt have to perish if we believe in Him
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt no the theory of evolution, and SCIENCE is NOT an opinion, its a REALITY. Sir if you think these are opinions about that, then you are not thinking clearly and religion has already altered your thinking process. Evolution has evidence behind it, Charles Darwin gave PROOF that adam and eve where not real, he went back to the very begin in humans when he researched it, and found that there was no adam and eve made of the materials the bible says they where made from.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt the bible account for only 6,000 years, where is the other 194,000 years that we can prove we have been here? where is it at? Exactly believing in the bible means only one thing, you stick to that answer and all you will ever say "no we have only been here for 6,000 years" when we have EVIDENCE, not opinions, but EVIDENCE showing we have been here for AT LEAST 200,000 years.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 I cant recall what materials besides dirt the Bible claims Adam was made from. Not sure where you get that 6000 yrs figure, could you cite that? I beginning to believe you've never read the Bible, could you actually be arguing about a text you've never read before? Please read it first then discuss it, you'd save me a lot of time telling you what you didn't read. I'd appreciate it.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt the bible time line dates back just over 6000 years, not any further, and it says god created the earth, nothing of the universe. I have read enough of the bible to know what they teach. They teach you that you don't go to church you go to hell. You must have someone teach you the bible but yet as a child the "holy ghost" and the "holy spirit" let you know how to interpret it. Look the bible is false. And faith is to believe without evidence.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@foofiter9097 Yeah, exactly as I thought, you haven't read a single page of the Bible, your abject ignorance of it would make it an embarrassment to claim otherwise. None of your biblical claims exist. Your chemicals and chromosone prattle is pointless, totally irrelevant. It wouldnt matter if there were 100 billion atheists and 0 God believers, it still wouldnt make it true, its an ad populum fallacy. Sorry, but modern science is a creation of Western Christianity, its not your friend.
campowt 1 year ago
@campowt and there is chemicals in dirt that are not in the human body, and we can date humans back 200,000 years ago by looking how long the "Y" chromosome has been in humans, we can date it back 60,000 years in men and 200,000 years in women, and besides this women come first, even in the womb you start off as a women, if the bible is correct that man came first, then why does a women come first in the womb?
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt it is not your personhood, because your brain controls EVERYTHING you do. Ever watched lovingdoubt? she has a perfect video explaining it. She thought at one point she had memory's implanted into her that where not hers, she thought she was a different person, it took her some reassuring that she was not. My point is the brain controls everything, you can even lose the ability to love. This guy got in a car wreck and damaged his frontal lobe he is now unable to love has been for 8 years
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt anyone can look at the sun, is it a good idea? no it is not, we do understand how something SO COMPLEX got there, we know how the sun is made and what it is made of. Now if something so complex is in our galaxy (and about 1.4 billion other galaxy's as well) then that would mean god is FAR more complex then the sun, and yet we cannot see him? that makes no sense, if we could see or perceive a god and see him with our naked eye, this debate wouldn't be happening right now.
foofiter9097 1 year ago
@campowt and the bible says we are made in his image, now if something so complex that he is more complex then the universe or even a human, then how would he look anything like us? the answer is he would not, we would need to evolve 1 billion times over to be that complex, and even then we could not be nearly as complex as the universe around us. So if this is the case, why is it that the bible makes such claims? back 6000 years ago the bible wasn't questioned, now people can think on there own
foofiter9097 1 year ago
Can't beat the Bible itself for turning believers into non-believers. It works, because it worked for me.

1 Cor. 11:14 doesn't help much when you look at Samson, who was a Nazerene and they went long periods of time without cutting their hair to show devotion to Yahweh/Jehovah/God. So Jesus having long hair is more biblically correct, the Jehovah's Witness need to update lol.

I find other peoples deconversion stories interesting. Probably because mine was so simple, fast, and didn't require any 'soul searching' or any sort of drama. Read the bible at the age of 8, recognised it as nonsense. Came to the conclusion that either 1. not written or inspired by any god. or 2. any god that would write or inspire that insipid thing isn't worth worshipping.

more anti-religion, less football. I have a question your majesty- I think there is a god, but I also belief in evolution, I dont think any part of the bible is nonfiction, and I do not cringe at eclipses. I guess I'm semi-reasonable, so here's the question; are your videos anti-theism or anti-religion?

tilemacro 1 year ago
@tilemacro when I say 'semi-reasonable", it means I think there is a god based on the lack of an explanation pre-big bang, and the fact science has yet to create life from basic elements, but at the same time I am not a foaming at the mouth alambama bible thumper. I guess it's like being semi-crazy, it's just the right amount, not too much, not too little. don't look to far into it.
mattybock 1 year ago

I noticed almost all of the barbaric, bronze age savage stuff in the Bible is never spoke about in church by the priests.Just conviently forgot about. that's how i realised the nonsense of the bible myself, by reading it independently of being told what to read. i only stopped believing in a god 5/6 years ago. sad waste of forty years.

MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@blinkyreadsbooks In fact religion is a side effect of an property you have, the ability to work with other humans and obey them regardless of personal outcome.
Without that facility we would not have cities, communication, computers, economics etc... but the side effect is that many of us do what we are told because we make the an assumption that those telling us know what they are doing.
Many times that is a correct assumption, but its an assumption, so many times it is wrong.

@blinkyreadsbooks Not sure why you deleted your comment... it is a valid and reasonable position.

According to scripture it is for ease of access, after all, goD is a known rapist.

Lariasio 1 year ago
@tygr86 I think what he is saying is that if you actually answer your questions by reading the bible for yourself and don't listen to other interpretations of it, then it becomes an anti religious book.
Were you aware that the bible was the first book printed when the printing press was invented but the last one to be made available to the general public?
So the question that should be asked of Christian priests and pastors is 'should Christians read the bible and interpret it themselves?'
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@tygr86 I started off as a young earth creationist biblical literalist. I progressed through several new variations of that as it became clear that each thing I had believed was a lie.

@blinkyreadsbooks
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
KingHeathen... it is for the very reason that you yourself explained there...and that most atheist repeat that I actually support the teaching of religion in schools... I've been atheistic all my life... so I never taught there was god, or goblins, never believed in santa as a kid. etc.
Teaching religion in schools alongside history, science, math etc. would lead to the destruction of religion in a single generation. Religion has no armament against an individuals ability to reason.

I am at the point right now that i am not sure what to believe if that makes sense.
johndebbra 1 year ago
@johndebbra It won't be long now, that you will have many problems with the teachings you heard over your life from clergy, parents and friends. Very soon, you will see so many inconsistencies and falsehoods pushed on you. One conclusion will be reached and when that happens, the freedom you will feel will be monumental. Good luck and ask many questions. The more you ask, the more easy to escape the delusion.
saxmanchiro 1 year ago
@johndebbra well stop believing everything and go out and find out what you want. You have an extreme advantage over kingheathen and he might agree with me, you have the internet.
You can research everything many times faster and more indepth than he could.... you have instant access to the qu'ran, bible, bhagavad gita, and every science known to humanity with sources... you are rich in knowledge...kingheathen was poor...
However from what I know of it, deconversion will also bring problems.
MumblingMickey 1 year ago
@MumblingMickey I definitely agree. When I deconverted, I had to do it the hard way. There weren't any books readily available spelling out the contradictions and historical manipulations. You had to find it yourself and piece it all together.
KingHeathen 1 year ago
@johndebbra Thanks for sharing that. It's always refreshing to know that there are people like yourself that is actually paying attention and willing to question their beliefs. Also, thanks for watching...even though your original intention wasn't so grand. I'm glad you've hung around and hope to see more comments from you in the future.

It put me over the edge..
wayman29 1 year ago
Very intresting! I have never been a believer but I do have had the same questions as you have.
Mrgoodguy99 1 year ago
I think quite a few of us can relate to that kind of experience. I began to question religion at an early age but it took many years for me to have a break through and finally allow myself to let go of the dogma and realise that I don't have to believe without evidence. The irony is that it was only then that I truly felt born again! And I've never looked back. I'll choose a free mind and a truthful spirit any day. I'm an Agnostic/Atheist because it is logical that I be so. No religion required.
mydogbanjo 1 year ago
Nicely done KingHeathen… It has been said that the quickest way to de-convert a christian to an atheist is to have them actually read the whole bible. ;O)

Same here! Even as a child, I had questions, and none of the stuff they "spoon fed" me at church really made sense. It wasn't until I read the rest of the bible that I actually answered my own questions and REALLY GOT that religion is nothing more than mind control for the sheeple.

When you said "I did the worst thing you could do as a believer..." I thought you were gonna say "I critically questioned my church leader." That's usually the worst.
