This is a very good tempo too, in my humble opinion. Many other recordings sound either like they are in a race to get to the end of the song, or falling asleep.
Our kitty of 16 years passed away on 1 Sep 2011, a very hard time for us. Upon hearing this piece, I like to think of its title as "Kätzchen können sicher spielen" ("Kittys can safely play"). May ours rest in peace, and forever play.
@Anglosaxoesdatreta I would love to hear this in Heaven. And funny, it's been almost a year since I posted that and only an hour ago maybe, I was just thinking about this music (class reading material, someone in the material mentioned a Beethoven piece and it brought back this even though it was a different piece. I wanted to play this again, but had no idea anymore if I'd even be able to! Love the classical music, flute music by a local musician, anything that's soothing. (sigh)
@maxmartha ... Congratulations to you both... I hope your Wedding was everything you wished it to be... Health and happiness to you and your hubby in your new life together... Best regards from a wet and windy WAles UK :0)x
@wenglishsal ... Thank you, thats most kind of you. All the best to you and yours, over in Wales. Its a favourite place to me & hubby! Kind regards from cold & rainy Kent. x
@maxmartha .. What a lovely reply.... Wales is beautiful but so is 'The Garden of England' too.. I have family in or near Ashford, we went over there last year, stunning countryside and a wonderful warm welcome too.. I am an import to Wales, my hubby is Welsh, I was born in Bedfordshire... BUT now classify myself as 'Wenglish' because I have lived in Wales longer than England AND all my children were born here... Many congratulations once more, health and happiness to you both... :0)x
@wenglishsal We probably passed on the motorway! My parents have a place in Anglesey and we go there as much as possible. Its so beautiful! Im originally from the Manchester area, so Wales was a frequent visit for us. Ive lived in the Garden (or whats left of it) for 10 years now, but I don't think I will ever consider myself southern. It is a lovely part of the country, but both of us would rather live in Wales or the North. You are very lucky! All the best to you and your family xx
@maxmartha This is certainly a lovely piece to walk down the aisle to, in fact I may consider this piece as well if I ever meet the right man. I actually heard this on Music Choice and I bolted up to take a look at the name so I could look for it elsewhere. I have Music choice on mute right now so I can just hear this to my hearts content. I hope your marriage life is as beautiful as this music piece is. : )
@Lavenderrose73 Thank you for the lovely comments. It is a gorgeous piece to walk down the aisle to, although I must admit on the day I didnt hear it at all! I didnt know the piece at all until I came across it on one of those free classical CD's you get in the weekend papers. I hope you find your Mr Right to glide down the aisle to and that you will be as happy as I am. All the best to you and yours for Xmas and the New Year. :)
@maxmartha Thanks, you too. I hope Christmases in England are as beautiful as I've heard them to be, and it's very encouraging to know that happy marriages with someone who will treat you well can still be found.
@birddogfreemann The CD this was on was in the Daily Mail (Saturday or Sunday edition), but it was about 8 years ago! They used to be very good at giving free CD's away, but I stopped reading it about 6 years ago so I don't know if they still do. They are really handy for having in the car.
The flutes in the beginning always reminded me of Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles.

I know we can't take material things with us when we die, but will we take melodies we learned?
