man, american football has destroyed ljunberg. he played awesome before leaving to MLS. and I have never ever seen a backpass in my life in professional football. but here in MLS they do it.... wtf. and wtf? referee can't do his job. how can you say that is offside before he has given a pass. terrible, just terrible
@ErikIsInThaHouse You must not have watched a lot of professional football if you haven't seen a back pass before. Easy to find examples from English Premiership and other top leagues on youtube if you want to educate yourself.
i remember that game. that ref had a napolean complex and was toooo interested in BEING the game instead of reffing it. when will the mls get serious about getting competent officiating!?
yeah i was at the game as well and still have no clue why he got a red card. he barely touched the guy jostling for position. idc how skilled of a player he may or may not be on the ball, but that display of Ekpoo's (lol) acting skills was horrendous. I've honestly never seen anything that ridiculous/blatant in a professional soccer game and hope to never again. We really should have won this game. Oh well. Flying down to LA next weekend for the match against Chivas. IM SOUNDERS TIL I DIE!
Why is there no footage of that ****** Ekpo crawling around on the ground like a ******* slug?!? That player is an embarrasment to the league and the sport, even more so than these terrible refs. I went to the game, and I can tell you one thing---I did not pay 45 dollars to watch that POS crawl around, or to see the god**** refs throw away another sounders win. Im tired of the bull****, let the men play the game.
why would that be a "highlight"?? This vid only shows highlights (major cards issued, goals scored, goal chances, that sort)
But yea i understand your frustration. In the early days of MLS, the league did not have a problem with diving. Now that we have brought in more internationals, they are influencing our games and players. cough, cough, Ruiz, cough cough, Blanco
This game was about even, both teams back and forth.
I believe Seatlle would've won if they had gotten Ljunberg more touches, it seemed every time he got his feet on the ball, he was eloectric. Jaqua was also a key part-once they took him out their offense was stagnant.
And Montero is really pressing. Someone has to tell him that he doesn't need to put all the pressure on himself.
initially i thought Alejandro' goal was an OG but then i saw it was just a fantastic header. ALE-JANDROOOO MORENOOOO! ALE-JANDRO MORENOOOO! ALE-JANDRO MORENOOO!
i don't think he meant in all time as in ALL keepers. i think just USA. which if that's the case then it's obvious. he, friedel and howard. all time for me is Schmeichel and Yashin.
Keller is one of the All-Time greats, The Brazilian National team is quoted as saying he put on the greatest display by a goalkeeper ever after a match with the US...He was consistently good in Europe, he may have never latched onto a giant team but he was in an era where American soccer players were not regarded very highly.
HE IS NOT. Come on, let's be for real. I've never read any quote remotely close to that. Brazil has faced Yashin and Zoff in World Cups. Actually, you don't even have to go that far. Did u watch the World Cup final in 98? To me even Barthez was better that Keller. U'll never see him in any best goalkeeper's ranking, never. And this is nothing personal, I think he's a very good player, but we have to be objective about it.
Made five world-class saves in the Brazil match, all against 1994 World Cup MVP Romario, prompting Romario to say after the game that it "was the greatest performance I've ever seen by a goalkeeper. It was an honor to be on the field with him."...This can be found by searching Romario Keller on google, Now you can't say you haven't read this quote. Learn your facts before you dispute something.
That was a freaking friendly match! First of all, Romario is not the Brazilian National Team. And second, That only means that Romario was very polite and a good sport and that Keller did one very decent game. They say shit like that ALL THE TIME. That doesn't mean anything.
Brazilians don't even run on friendly matches.
Probably that was the first and last time Romario heard from Keller. They're not gonna be struck by some guy they played in a friendly match.
Once again you are wrong it was the Gold Cup (CONCACAF's tournament that sends its representative to the Confederations Cup, CONCACAF used to invite other teams to play in the tournament to make it more competitive) not a friendly, are you retarded? You are just rambling now and spouting more false statements...Keller has also run up accolades such as best euro goalkeeper of the month and other such awards.
Whatever. I don't even know about that because it is so irrelevant. Concacaf gold cup, give me a break. Sure, I bet Brazilians can't sleep because they coudn't win that.
U sound like someone who would consider the MLS champion "World Champion" like in other sports in America. Not even Tim Howard, who has had a more prominent career, can be in a best ever list. Best goalies are mostly World cup, and international tournament heroes, not runner ups for best euro goalie of the month.
And herein lies your problem. Firstly if you knew anything about logic you would realize your hasty generalization is an unsubstantiated fallacy and as such irrelevant. Secondly simply because you don't know what the Gold Cup is doesn't mean it isn't a competitive tournament, but merely that you are ignorant to what it is. Thirdly you think Tim Howard's "more prominent career" makes him a better keeper without taking in the context of either players' era...ramble on
I said I didn't know about that specific game. I know what Concacaf gold cup is. That is one of the crappiest international tournaments, and that's a fact, I've seen it. Mexico and USA jerk off in that cup. Just like u just did with ur "logic".
The context of either players era? They're almost in the same generation!! That factor is insignificant. We're not comparing Di Stefano with Messi. And yes, I think Tim Howard is both more succesful and a better player.
Did you not see how intense the final was for the Gold Cup last time? Apparentlyyyyyyyy not
However, I would consider world class. To me, Howard is one of top 25 goalies playing at the moment. He achieved 16 shutouts this season and has set a club record for everton for most shutouts by a goalkeeper. Thats pretty impressive for a team that doesnt play for champions league.
Good comment sam, Ngooo, Tim Howard and Kasey Keller are a decade apart in careers yes they played in games at the same time but it was Keller opening the door for US players to be considered that has allowed Howard and others to make other steps forward. Howard is better than Keller now yes but Keller is past prime and Howard is right in the middle of it. Howard may eclipse Keller as the best US keeper ever soon but I don't think he has done it yet.

My point was that CONCACAF is not a very competitive zone AT ALL. Compared to Europe and South America is a joke. It's slightly less competitive than Africa, and slightly more competitive than Asia (arguably either way. It can vary). And don't argue by saying that Costa Rica once did a great game or some bs like that. Mexico and USA, by far best CONCACAF teams. They're world class teams, but not TOP teams. Hardly they reach WC 1/4 finals.
Can someone explain what a backpass is ? I can honestly say I've never seen that come up before. I mean, if it's as simple as the player passing back to the goal keeper, what does that matter? Is it situational or is it because the other team was at the time on offense? confused! :P
oooh, I see... thanks for clearing that up. I assume the free kick they were getting from short range was the result of a backpass then? it's crazy to see the team just blocking the goal like that!
he punched one of the crews forwards. look..u can see it... it happened just before the side judge waived his flag. top of the 18. he will get suspended a couple of games for that. too bad
His antics in this game were a bit disgraceful. Going down rolling around CRAWLING off the field and getting up the second he got off the field. Though the second time he tried to pull the time wasting the ref left him off for a good chunk of time. Ticked off the ref so much that when a teammate was legit hurt (and was subbed) the ref made Columbus wait a minute for the guy to come back on b4 he allowed the sub.
i didn't get to see the game. so i didn't know this. but i wouldn't say he's a disgrace to the game because of what he does in ONE match. emmanuel is a fantastic player and a fucking beast. i saw him play last year and was highly impressed. hopefully i'll make my way to columbus again this summer and watch him dominate.
The MLS league is censoring the footage of Ekpo in this montage because he was such a disgrace. 5 minutes of gametime literally crawling around, only to pop up IMMEDIATELY and keep playing. An utter disgrace; if he is world-class like you say, he should start acting like it, not just playing like it.
where in the world did i say he was "world-class" i said he's fantastic and a beast. nothing world class about it. what about Cristiano Ronaldo? Didier Drogba? Emmanuel Adebayor (sometimes)? do they ever dramatize fouls? AB-SO-FUCKING-LUTELY! are they World Class? 100%
Fair enough, I concede the point; Ekpo is not a world class player. And you meant dramatizing injuries, not fouls. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE. He crawled on the ground to waste time, he is an embarrassment, and if you only support him because he is a crew player, it only speaks poorly of you.
No I am not a Columbus fan. But I was at the game. Maybe all you saw were the highlights, or watched the game on t.v., but I had to sit through almost an entire game of his bullshit.
He literally spent 4-5 minutes on the ground rolling around in agony. But then he would magically be healed the next second, pop up and keep playing.
I've been watching football my whole life, and I have never seen a player waste so much time on the ground, pretending to be hurt.
my brother does the exact same thing when he gets injured. only he actually does get hurt. he just pops up so he can keep playing. but then after the match is over he's got a big ass knot on his ankle or a gash 1/5 inch deep. yet, i still say he's one of the best players in kentucky for his age. and that's the mothafucking truth. no matter what you say, your not gonna persuade me in hating Ekpo, he's a Crew player and as long as he remains so I support him.
none of us could either. Must have said something that got him sent off, but regardless... pointless red card if you ask me. Sucks Freddy missed the penalty kick, but the best have missed them. He's still a great player.
