They were boring on screen characters. That doesn't take away anything from them personally, in this case being the accent. I've always found myself repeating that line in a 'haha' way, because of the way she pronounces Paul.

In today's poor state of wrestling, having an enjoyable accent is more than most could claim for. What's wrong with your example? John Cena is a shitty wrestler, but he seems like a great guy. Same shit.

they could've had a lot more fun with a pirate gimmick too.

Walk the plank matches, throwing a net over the faces to get an unfair advantage, swinging across to the ring on a rope like pirates were known for. The novelty value was all there for easy entertainment.
