My GF is also polish...LOL But she lived in my country so she speaks my language... good, because she cant speak English very well.... The problem is the number of them. Since 2005 when they have been allowed to move anywhere in the EU, they moved in mass. The Govt was predicting 25.000. What fact should I be proud of - that you're learning Polish? Just kidding. Well, it's a stereotype too that the muscovite tongue is easier to learn than Polish. If you perceive it as easier then it is easier. In the future, English may be perceived as the hardest to learn language in the world. I heard (also in Canada) that Chinese is the hardest language to learn. In reality it is easy to learn - as easy as any other language.

By the way, zakyzeek, did you assert the anti-English sentiment doesn't exist in so-called English Canada? If so, your assertion would be contrary to facts. I've met "Irish" and "Scottish" (meaning Canadians who said they were Irish or Scottish) there who seemed quite Anglophobic. When I tell folks from England about it they are often shocked.

How does it work with you, zakyzeek? :) I understand the native Indians have a history in Canada that can't be healed; Canadians completely wiped out some tribes, didn't they? I also was treated there in a way I'll never forget and forgive. If you sincerely, without bias, learned both Polish and Afrikaans then, I imagine, you'd find both languages are equally easy or hard to learn.

@MrMerrick75 i never labelled all poles, remember the word stereotype? as you put for canadians that we're racist and hypocrites (which actually isn't a known stereotype, whereas poles being somewhat daft is.) the indians were canadians, everyone living in canada at that time was canadian regardless of what they thought they were. the english deported the french, irish and scottish.

By the way, did you know that in England the Scottish are viewed probably more negatively than the newfies in Canada? Also, the Irish are viewed quite negatively there. So unlike than in Canada where - however unbelievable it may appear - "the Scottish" or "Irish" see themselves as almost gods and try to force others to view them so. Also in Canada the Scottish and Irish classify themselves as "Anglosaxons", right?

@MrMerrick75 i've never heard one say that, but yeah, they probably do. the newfies here surround themselves with their own kind, so they are almost exactly the same as the irish, in nova scotia i believe they are scottish. britain looks down on the scots and irish because of such a long history of conflict, the fenians did some relationship damaging as well except they were just fighting for their freedom.
