However I just would have expected to see the flags of Russia, Canada and possibly Alaska as well as the one in the video. They lie as far north as one can get, and the song Land of Ice and Snow may appeal better to those countries/state. Anyway good video!

First is Norway, second is Sweden, third is Denmark, fourth is Finland, fourth is the Faroe Islands, fifth is Iceland, and after Iceland is the proposed flag of a Scandinavian union. However, Åland also has a Nordic cross flag. The Orkney Islands and Shetland, Scotland also have Nordic cross flags. They're very beautiful. :D

Actually, Iceland has an army. Their army is 2 guys sitting in a room watching some surveilance screens NATO placed there. And afaik they do have some sort of coast guard.. but I believe its more like a branch of their law enforcement.

I would certaintly not suggest anything like a union run by any one nation as supreme. We have similar economic/political structures and interests. If the development of our nations be the guiding star they might fuse into one over time and perhaps that would be a good thing? Every nordic nation has so much to contribute that, I think, we'd be abel to advance the living standard of the nordic peoples much more if we were closer connected, if not by a union at least by a stronger common market.

Faroe Islands is the second richest of the nordic countries. We have two faroese coast guard vessles payed by us. Danes have two ships up here. If danes take those ships home then it only means that we have to expand our own fleet a little bit.
Iceland does not have any huge millitary. They did fine before the crisis.

yees, I have netherlands descent, but, if you look back in "line" I could find, that in my family there was norweigan and finnish blood (it's a looong story)
I know some people of those countries and the're so nice (i speak finnish)

Finargon: the most common hair color here in Scandinavia is actually not blonde, but brown. There are a lot of blondes, yes...particularly in Sweden, I have noticed. But it's not the most common hair color.

(That was from wikipedia, so I'll write a much better and explanation later on today :) )

I completley agree, national geographic is the best. I also usually use my dad as a source, he likes to read war books, marine books etc and is a historian on his free time :) But I was just going somewhere when I wrote that so I didn't have much time :D /LOONG EXPLANATION hahaha

i think england should of been part of scandanavia, our flag is identical in design and we are the most northern country outside scandanavia (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SCOTLAND) i hate the e.u too, and i feel no connection with mainland europe, i feel more connected to northern europe, we would of been a better country under scandanavian influence anyway

Im from Denmark, and I want to unite with the rest of my nordic brothers and sisters. The EU is bad, rotten and we must leave it. The EU is not a requirement for a free market in Europe.
A Nordic Union would make sense, we are one people, divided by borders on a map.
Lets form a Nordic Union (NU)!

its kinda easy for a Dane to say, the period from 1400 until we got a somewhat independence in 1814 and our own constitution is known in Norway as "the 400 year night". (would take another 100 years to get free from the swedes in 1905)
though im all for a union where we are actually equal ^_^

I would certaintly not suggest anything like a union run by any one nation as supreme. We have similar economic/political structures and interests. If the development of our nations be the guiding star they might fuse into one over time and perhaps that would be a good thing? Every nordic nation has so much to contribute that, I think, we'd be abel to advance the living standard of the nordic peoples much more if we were closer connected, if not by a union at least by a stronger common market.

How about Aland? are they concidering them self to be a people on their own who have serious plans about taking independace from Sweden/Finland ??
Greenland thinks about independace and i hope they will take it soon but they're pretty much controled by Denmark :/
Faroe Islands is 95% self sufficient, and we are slowly on our way to independace.. more and more things are taken over and support from Denmark is cut down to nothing.

Faroese people are not to be confused with greenaldners. We are a people on our own. North germanic people. we´re NOT danes. But beside that.
Faroe Islands is the second richest of the nordic countries. We have two faroese coast guard vessles payed by us. Danes have two ships up here. If danes take those ships home then it only means that we have to expand our own fleet a little bit.
Iceland does not have any huge millitary. They did fine before the crisis.
