this is a fail of a tutorial. Mac can already read region 1 dvds by themselves. but it cannot read other region other than its naitive country region.
@GhSpecialist I downloaded VLC and when i click on open disc, it doesn't let me open it... i clicked on DVD.. it loads and says it's 0 minutes long..... PLEASE HELP ME!! thanks!

I wish this would have worked for me. I'm in Region 1 and have some region 2 DVDs. VLC tries really hard to play them, but it just doesn't work.

It only works for a few days but then it suddenly stops working and just says "error opening disk"

I use Region X. Think you need to flash your drive first though.

Thats how I did it but only 2 out of the loads of R1 dvds I've tried have worked.
