this is just too deep to respond now...

There are few REALLY good points here. I am going to use a Scully 280-8, with NO MIXING BOARD, then goto directly to Ardour/Linux, then do my mixing and use all the free plugings for reverb and compression ect....

When I am done with that I will:

1. master using the plugins, then goto tape for final product

2. mix to 1/4 tape for high end mastering lab/studio

3. stay completely digital

The range of students vary from those that are using the school as a pool to network with others as driven as they are as well as individuals that aren't familiar with the business. That is not actually an accurate statement. The school is based on hand's on technical learning. I brought Kramer to the school myself as a student to expose people to someone who was there when there was no schooling available besides the driven to find their place & keep going at it. Pay for school & use it right?!

I went about putting this idea together back in the Spring of 1996 having talked with Jimi's studio design consultant John Storyk, friend of Eddie Kramer. I mentioned I was looking to record and set up and event with Kramer (i was 22) and Storyk feeling serendipitous told me to meet him after the design lecture and gave me his phone number. This even was scheduled for August 16-18th 1996, meaningfully enough..the anniversary dates of Woodstock where he also recorded in 1969 same dates.
