this is what happens when you rely on a government. but it doesn't matter who's in charge or anything. people will always find a way to screw other people over to get what they want.
@Voxeran just as a point of reference what could labour have done differently if elected into power to prevent the riots? oh and rock on frank turner!
It's not just adults a lot of people including myself bring my kids up to have morals and to want to work, correct some adults don't care and should have probaly not breeded these kids
No - it's not true - the kids are alright - it's the adults who are fucked and responsible. We've let them down . The cause should not blame the effect.
oh frank, you were right all along.3 days or useless riots in the uk casued by 'kids' out to have a good time and 'show the police they have no control over them'. Maybe you were right all along and thatcher did indeed fuck the kids...
The 2007 UNICEF Child Welfare Survey found that of the 21 richest countries in the world, the UK had the unhappiest children. We ranked highest in bullying and teenage pregnancies, last in communication with family and general health. The USA was right ahead of us.
@thejinkdful u have no clue what your saying! WHO dereguated them in the first place was it maybe ermmmmmmm thatcher and reagan ...........if u dont know what ur talking about best if u dont !
@pimski yes... that deregulation gave us growth for 12 years... thats why labour continued the reform, which meant that we had an even bigger boost for another 12 years... but they took it too far, moved regulatory power away from the BoE to the monkeys in the FSA, reduced the banks mandatory capital ratio's from 10% to 7% ... and instead of saving some of the tax revenue they got from the growth, labour spent more than they got in FOR 5 YEARS PRIOR TO RECESSION. "U" seem to be another idiot...
Frank Turner went to Eton College and is therefore a class traitor and hypocrite. It was his type that helped Thatcher and you know that when push comes to shove, Turncoat will always have privilege to fall back on.
@Jools65 So are you saying you don't agree with social mobility? That makes you as bad as Thatcher. I don't really understand what your stance is? An Eton education would have given him a pretty good grasp on social inequality, he's in the best position to Tory bash. Besides, he had a scholarship, not that it should matter.
Her social policies were bad, but her economic policies definitely made the best of Labour's bad situation. The similarity between then and now is that had Labour been re-elected in 1979 we'd have suffered the most catastrophic economic collapse in the same way we would have been had they been re-elected in 2010.
Can't wait for the fucker Thatcher to die. Day off from work to celebrate her death I hope will be well attended by all who endured her assault on the working classes, particularly the miners and our manufacturing jobs. Rejoice, Rejoice. By the way, the Belgrano was....I repeat was sailing out some miles from the exclusion zone. Dont report it though the poor lady who did died mysteriously. and her spineless twat of a son escaped prosecution from financing a coup. Thatcher fucked us all.
This is so true. I've been saying for ages that what we have now is nothing to do with today's government but a direct consequence of Thatcher's Britain. Unfortunately, people have short memories :(
Tories want to cut nursery, school and future job funding which lower income families and the middle classes benefit from. While giving the 3,000 families earning over £200,00 tax cuts! "Whats that? @Avionicgenius No. If you listen to the words it's about people's attitudes towards each other. Thatcher made people selfish, insular and uncaring. She created a society that told people they could have whatever they wanted, then took away their means of achieving it.
You sound quite ignorant of the facts to me. She took away many people's chances of working if you remember (perhaps you were too young). Only a very few who 'worked' were as you call it 'rewarded'.
There is much more to a successful society for us all than a few people able to make themselves a fortune. Somebody has to look after those who can't look after themselves.
One day that could be you - don't take social care fore granted.
@Didy810 your are blinded by your personal experiences. the majority benefited. thats why she never got less than 13 million votes, more than any precious labour candidate ever got. your still fucking peasants as far as i can see.
@jinkedful You know nothing of my personal experiences. I am not blinded by anything - I was there. The majority did not benefit - and what about those who did not benefit - are we just to forget about them and leave them to struggle along?
@Didy810 precisely; you were there. you have no interest in the end results of what happened, because you only see what happened at the time. The majority have benefitted. Every credible source admits that. We are not to leave them, we are to help them, but first we must make a world where those that can look after themselves are allowed to, so they do not feel limited and are not made unneccessary burdens on the state. You of course resort to name calling. Its all your side have left.
@jinkedful Believe it or not I have been here since Thatcher, I wasn't just there at the time! The majority did not benefit, and the trouble she caused is still felt today in many ways, not just economic. Even if it were true that the majority benefited, there can be no excuse for the suffering caused to the rest.
I'm still trying to find the part of my post where I resorted to name-calling.
@Didy810 "typical tory blinkered view"... and the point i was making is that the fact that you lived through the adjustment from socialism to popular capitalism has blinkered your view as to the improvements. I was pointing out that if you compare the standards of living/ state of things in 1979 to 1990, things were better in the 90s for most people. The unions were delt with. people could own there own homes. Wealth was availiable to the masses. she made the sick man of europe a world leader.
@jinkedful That wasn't a name it was a statement of fact.
That wasn't a name, it was a statement of fact. What about the state of education and the health service in 1990 compared to today? You seem to have forgotten 18month waiting lists. Unions were' dealt with' far too heavy-handedly. She cared nothing for ordinary people's lives. However,I can see you're never going to accept the truth that she created much resentment and unfairness in this country and we have never fully recovered.
@Didy810 its name calling, your type tries to turn the word "tory" into an insult to styful the debates you know you lost in the 1980's. and the ordinary people had been mercilessly screwed by the unions with the explicit aim of benefitting their members (who were never the majority) at the expesne of others. look at the 3 day week, the rolling blackouts, the garbage piled higher then some buildings. the ordinary people suffered before thatcher, she was the one that punished those who brought it
@jinkedful If you choose to take the name of your party as an insult that's your problem. I find your referring to me as 'your type' much more insulting. As I said in my last post, you are never going to accept the truth. The song is about Thatcher and I stand by everything I have said.
@jinkedful The Conservative party was set up by the aristocrats and weren't needed until capitalism started getting challenged, therefore any comment on the way the party oppresses the lower classes is accurate.
@Didy810 ... what you had for the past 18 years, you know all that endless growth and wealth, that was the result of thatchers reforms. They lasted 28 fucking years. You CANNOT blame thatchers reforms for labour's failure to properly regulate the banks. The tories were talking about the need to control public spending under howard back in 2005. They wanted powers returned to the bank of england from the FSA too. Thatcher fucked the kids in one sense, but the deficit is 100% Labour.
@StockHatchRacing ... and yet i have a feeling that bar the odd feigned anger in the guardian and the odd nut on the bbc, you've never heard an economist say anything different.
@Didy810 Don't be stupid. If anything Thatcher stimulated the youth of Britain. Frank Turners a muppet & it's a bit rich all this preaching from a guy who went to Eton! Yeah sing a song damning a respected politician with a few swear words in - your down with the kids mate!
@skeletonw00t Yes, Thatcher stimulated the youth of Britain.
