@rrevved yes, its the "Travel" size Highway 61. they make one now with the longer neck, but I almost exclusively play short scale which is why I bought it in the first place.
I call mine the "63 Galaxy" since the cap came from 63 Ford Galaxy. There's a Falcon hubcap almost identical, but slightly smaller, I'm building an Octave Mandolin with that one, but this guitar looks so great with that cap.
@JamieOue thanks! Hopefully I will have a better set of clips up soon. I may make a new movie showing people how to customize their own, then auction off the final guitar.
@knowndebaser I haven't really thought about it, I'm not really in a position to go into business. I don't have access to a place where I can regulary work on metal. But thanks for asking!
You can see the price for a regular one at Republic, they could probably age it for you right there. I'm not the first guy to corrode a brass guitar, or to put a hubcap on. This cap goes great with the guitar style.
I may even buy a 1963 Ford Galaxie to shoot a better video, if I can get a cheap one.
@bluemonster65 Thanks! the volume got dropped a bit from my home mix when I uploaded. This video/recording was just to show off the customized guitar, I have better recordings but no matching video, hoping to get another video up soon.
Thank you for sharing your video as a response. That aged finish is crazy. I like how you used a hub cap for the cover plate. Kind of like a Pogreba resonator guitar. Youtube search:
@KeniLeeBurgess Thanks! I got the idea for a hub cap from Bonnie Raitt, I saw her playing a guitar with a hub cap cover plate several years ago, maybe it was a Pogreba. That Progreba guitar looks really cool and sounds great. I'm familiar with Al Petteway, I like his playing.
I ain`t no blues man but I love your playing and sound. Check my hw61 on The Ballad of Jenny Rae. cheers!!!
