We just got what looks like Norwegian Elkhound yesterday.. he is so sweet, I'm still trying to get him to not spaz around our kittys. did you do anything special to get them used to each other?
My elkhound and cat got along quite well. My dog loved to run over the cat going full speed. The cat would get my dog to chase him and the cat would run under the car and then "thunp". But often at night they would curl up together to stay warm.
hehe when i first got my elkhound as a pup he used to chase the cat all day long .. get really close and paw at it .. then one day i hear this huge yelp..... and my little pup comes runnig up to me with the head low and a little drip of blood on the side of his face .. needless to say he kept his distance from the cat from then on :).
our two elkhounds are very different with cats. one just wants to play and just doesnt understand why the cats dont want to as well. the other can not be trusted alone with them. it is the only time he shows agression. he has almost caught our neighbors cat a few times when he tried to sneak into the dog yard. i shudder to think what would happen if he caught it.

We didnt really do anything. They accepted each other from start. And are like brothers today.

my elkhound can meet any person or animal, at first she's a lil protective of everyone, but then she becomes really playfull.
