Yep even if you cheat and make it possible to defeat the Cloud of Darkness at this point, the game still considers that you "lost" and plays out the scenario accordingly.

I can hope though. Since I loved the NES version of FF3 to death, a lot more than the DS version.

Even so, I kind of doubt we'll see a Virtual Console relese for FF2j/FF3j outside of Japan. Since I just don't see Square-Enix or Nintendo putting in effort to translate them. Hopefully they don't call FF4 FF2 and FF6 FF3.

I hope I am wrong though, since while the remakes are good... I still prefer the originals to this day and age.

FF III is my first RPG to have played and finished about 18 years ago in Japan when I was a student. I was happy when DS version came out, but I wasn't as into it as I was into the original FF III on famicom. I don't know, but there is something about it. I love FF III original version a lot.

I'm a FFIII expert, I have played it lots of times, and I can state here that what shasuta done in this video is only possible with Game Genie codes. Here is why:

1 - His first member (the top Sage) is carring two Onion Swords. That's impossible. Sages can only equip staffs and rods as weapons.

2 - Both Sages are equiping armors and helmets that they can't actually equip.

3 - Dark Cloud is invincible in the first battle we have against it.

Best Final Fantasy of all, by the way :D

As far as I am concerned, the only way to play this game in English is by an emulator and a rom. This Final Fantasy never came to America as an actual cartridge game unfortunately.

Unless you spend a couple hours leveling up to buy Shurikens, I've found in my games that I'm about level 50 by the time I reach DarkCloud... granted, I didn't know you were suppossed to fight the four other bosses first and I lost miserably!

"HP 48952" If HP advancement in the NES version is like the DS version, that would be 100-200 HP per level past 99 (based on 90-99 progress).

Assuming they hit 9999 at level 99, the character would reach 41,000 HP around level 255. BUT the main character hit 48,952. So:

-either the gains improve beyond 99

-the character reached 9999 early.

It's really hard to reach 9999 early, with a maximum of ~12000 HP possible at level 99. I'd say this character is at level 251 (the memory glitch).

It is possible to hit the darkcloud in the first part, u just need to defeat all 4 or 5 optional bosses in eureka or whatever the name is of the forbidden land

He's not at level 21, what looks like a 2 is the hiragana "ko/こ" before the 1. the rom he was playing on has some bugs in it, as hiragana characters are mixed in with some numbers.

In his Japanese comment he explains that he altered values related to this Dark Cloud's defense to match that of the second Dark Cloud, which can be damaged. He also said that he exploited a bug to artificially strengthen his characters.  Yes, he hacked the ROM, but he's up front about it all. It's just that the explanation is in Japanese. :)
