From the historical record we readily see that government ventures are without exception those ventures that cannot sustain themselves w/o coercion. Private sector business goes bankrupt in that situation and ceases to exist. Shouldn't gov face the same conditions?

When the people are not at home, electrical power is still being produced, and goes back into the grid. When they are at home, their usage is on average, only $12 a month!!!! This home is only a model home, but more are slated to be built ans sold in short order!! This particular home is 17,500 sq. ft, and sells for a turnkey price of $280,000!!

It has its own windmill, solar panels, state of the art solar reflecting, or solar absorbing windows. It is amazing to me to know that when nobody is at home, it actually sends electricity back into the grid!! So far, here in Chicago, the electric bill for this house should average only $12 a month!!

Trust me they know the labor laws, they know what the min. wage is, they know about breaks, they know about over time, they know about workers comp. insurance. In no way were these Mexicans slave labor. Where do you get your information on the meat industry?

600k minus the 1M that would have been created in the Private sector had not so much capital been diverted from productive activity. Yes, the economy suffers greatly when such a large proportion of aggregate capital is diverted from productive activity into gov mandated "make work" activity. And yes, I agree, nearly half a million jobs were lost or not created because government pandered to the unwilling to garner votes from the barely paying attention.

Coercion can and will garner market activity but only one party benefits. I am speaking of individuals who seek products and services because the see value in obtaining such things absent coercion. Productive activity is thus seen as those ventures seeking to provide those products and services. aka Free Market businesses

From the historical record we readily see that government ventures are without exception those ventures that cannot sustain themselves w/o coercion. Private sector business goes bankrupt in that situation and ceases to exist. Shouldn't gov face the same conditions?

if the government spends the money poorly, then all it will do in the long run is make a moderate blip. but that's exactly why a huge chunk of the Stimulus is infrastructure/science/tech investments

@maskedphrogg census and stimulus have nothing to do with eachother. the census temporary hires were paid out of the Census Bureau's own pockets. it's 600k direct jobs from the Stimulus alone. that's not taking into account the influx of economic activity that all those jobs create. and it's not taking into account the value of infrastructure and science/medical/tech investments down the road. and on top of that, $300 billion of the stimulus are for tax cuts. the Stimulus is serious business

They have been dishonestly linking that hiring trend to investments made possible by the two separate stimulus bills. Your denying these things does not make them no longer true. As we see in this example put forth by the WH itself, billions of dollars spent and only a few hundred new jobs not thousands.
