  • Anyone else just aim for the cop at max speed for epic crashes?

  • The best need for speed ever!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! This game looks way ahead of its time!

  • The best NFS ever!!!!!

  • OMG, this brings me lots of memories...I used to spend all my days playing this back in 1995... In those years I was happy but I didn't know.....

  • You have to drive almost perfect to beat The Diablo in this game.

  • At least the cars have all interiors...mnot like in GT5

  • 3DO version > all

  • Who else used to play this at the kiosk at Media Play?

  • 2:45 THE HARD RIGHT

  • THE GREATEST GAME CAR EVER, IM BRAZILIAN AND WAS PLAY THIAS GAME AT 90´ YEARS,,, PEACE

  • Great. But the second is better.

  • "Hey honey, I had to take a second mortgage out on the house"

    "What why?

    "I bought a 3DO"

  • @KartKing4ever

Sadly thats what killed the console off, was its price also a lot of developers who made games for Sega and Nintendo, was not making many games for the 3DO.

£400 i paid for my 3DO that was the retail price and the most i ever paid on a console, my PSX cost £260, latter my N64 cost £240 so faced with competition the 3DO was just to expensive a peice of kit with a lack of software support and failed for same reasons the Sega CD did.

  • @BanjoKiD2K That equals $563.68. That is insane. With inflation that is $850 O.O

  • @KartKing4ever

That was the retail price of the 3DO in the UK when released.

The Sega CD was aabout £250 in addition to £100 for a Sega MD at the time the Sega CD was released in UK.

  • I was trying to think of what separates these games from the new racing games. And I've come to the conclusion that it's the realistic sounds. The sound was pretty amazing in this game.

  • LOL, 32 bit 3D

  • need for speed lost its way after this a classic game

  • Mountains, stage 1. God I loved that game, I even bought it on ebay a year ago (the box even included the original bill from '94) but didn't get it running on today's PC's, even DOSBOX didn't help. What I didn't remember though is that the traffic cars came in different colours each model. Or is that just in the 3DO version?

  • LOL it's funny how at 3:21 the car lands on it's side, that's some very good physics simulation (for a 1994 game) cockpit cameras were kind of like a standard on the first 3d race games but now I can tell why, they're sprites lol.

  • If somebody owned a 3DO, a 3DS, a Xbox 360 and a 32X, would that make them a winner at life?

  • 3DO version was so much better than the Playstation version

  • @DvDPlaya no it wasnt u masturbater, the ps version is easier to control, more cars, more tracks, clearly youve been jacking off too much over breastfeeding you pervet

  • @EatMyWetJuicyTurd Yer stupid. 3DO version was more like a simulator while PS version was arcade version. Dumb Dickbag

  • To me, the Supra was the best car in the game. Had the best power to handling balance of all the cars.

  • ah this brings back memories!! i played it for hours!

  • Best car game ever

  • The 3DO was a pretty sick system for its time. I remember playing the 3DO at a large electronics chain store in the early 90's (don't even think the chain exists anymore tbh). It was a really fun system to play.

But the price was too damn high ($699) and the price didn't go down much. Also the lack of 3rd party support was another negative.

Ah, the 3DO had so much potential....

  • nfs1 has better graphic then nfs2

  • Still the best NFS game in my opinion. It all went downhill after this one.

  • this is fuckin orgasmic

  • I loved this game so much.

  • Thumbs up if you want a remake of NFS1 on Ps3, PC and Xbox360.

  • hopefully the next nfs game will be better than gran turismo 5 !!!!!!!

  • ok graphics

  • I'm impressed with the redraw distance. The first batch of Play Station games had severe clipping.

  • You can see how much effort did the old game engine strain to render those drawings.

What can you say, old is gold :)

  • Need for Speed is awesome. I still remember playing one of the older ones on my mom's computer when I was 5 or so.

And now we have Hot Pursuit, which is every bit as awesome with new graphics on top of the awesomeness.

  • LOL I remember this. I played it a lot on my PC

  • Using DosBOX can play this game in WinXP/Vista/7 or even Linux!

  • looks like road rash but dulled down.

  • its amazing those graphics were considered revolutionary at the time.

  • @EricKZhang they were. when you have a 199mhz pentium and you have one of those old-school 100games/disk CD's and your choice is between some 2d sidescrollers, wolfeinstein/doom, some puzzle games, this IS revolutionary - I spend summer(s) playing this game

  • @yuriythebest I loved those 100 games-in-1-disk compilations, now that concept is insane lol.

  • fond memories

  • I got the 3DO in 1994 with this game, I used to play this game for hours on end. I can't believe how for time has went now.

  • The thing i like about earlier NFS games was that it had internal dashboard views and replays that you can even save.

That's why I couldn't understand it when they took them out of the later NFS games (everything after Porsche Unleashed up until NFS Shift, which is a really long time)

And all of the Gran Turismo games so far, as great as they were, also lacked these basic features.

  • Comment removed

  • It reminds me on todays Forza with Kinect that was shown on E3 this year.

  • this definately to me, is the best one out of all of them. i remember going to Funcoland and seeing this for the first time for PS1. i HAD to get i. the reason why this is better, is because it was more simulated while the newer ones are more like the b.s. Blur and Split Second.

  • I don't know but this looks more realistic than the new episodes :D

  • the in-car view is the best. its so realistic. man i really miss those days

  • this is what the new NFS's should be about, just fuckin floorin' it out in the country side!

  • btw. no wonder that it's written The Need For Speed and the others not... because it really is THE need for speed!!!

  • nfs's 3do version is the best!!!

it's a simple console. but it kicks ass!! :)

    i wish back then they made a 3do 2 instead of a ps2 :D

  • Oh Yes i am with you all, this is the best need for speed version on any console, ever !!

  • There is a Group On Facebook Dedicated to The 3DO :-)

  • I still think that this first R&T NFS had the best speed feeling...

  • "Honey, I had to put a second mortgage on our house." "Why?" "Because I bought a 3do."

  • I used to get this car. Start a race vs the RX7. Give him a head start for about 15 sec. Then shoot off like a rocket catch huge air at :46 and jump over the RX7. I would trip out watching the replay!

  • such an awesome game..reminds me of old times :) wish that new NFS series were something similar as this. another great NFS is NFS Porsche Challenge on PC..

  • Nice scenic retro. You don't get games like this anymore.

  • ZOMG after 16 years, i still remembered where that COP was!!! WTF!!!

  • @DJMC5ive the reason im saying this is....well...i don't think I really even remember anything I learned in school back then...but yet I can remember exactly where the cop sits in this track....psh shows my priorities. I'm clearly a slacker. ^.^

  • I like watching along, and seeing how I would take the same driving lines at times :).

  • The first game with real car phisics

  • best racing game ever!!

  • Did this game have cops ? no right ?

  • @sonicadx it had cops!

  • ahhh good memory, need for speed, demolition man & road rash are the best 3do games i played.

nfs:hot persuit for psx & nfs:hot persuit 2 for ps2 are the only games i loved, but nfs for 3do is still best in the series :)

  • I still say this is the best in the series, can't believe there have been no racing games like this since. None that I can think of anyway, just driving on the countryside with nothing but a couple of opponents and regular traffic. Burnout Paradise almost emulates this, and rally games like Colin McRae Dirt does long stretches, but it's still not the same. I'd love an updated version of this, or some new game with nothing but a long stretch, no lap-racing!

  • lame

  • Still the best Need For Speed game, in my book. Actually, it's the only one I'll play.

  • the greatest car game ever. only the first gran turismo on PS1 and Daytona on dreamcast can be mentioned in the same breath.

Whoever played this demo isnt a very good player as he never picks up speed . Also the out of car camera is the best perspective for admiring the graphics.

The newer car games are shitty hip hop blaring junk

  • The only problem with driving games is that when playing you only see the road ahead. When watching you have time to take in the sceneary and the beuty of the tracks like in this need for speed, the only version worth playing.

  • COOL!!!!!! this will be in the new NFS Hot pursuit launching November 16 Us and 18 in Europe, I just hope to play from the cockpit view

  • Much better than the saturn/ps1 versions.

  • Best in the series to date lol

  • Need for speed first came out for 3do and it was better than the playstation version

  • My first game :)) 5/5

  • Esta muy bien el juego para la epoca

  • Wow. I know the 3DO bombed and lacked good games. But this looks really good!

  • This game was the reason I bought a 3DO. I couldn't get over how "real" it felt.

And I got a real kick out of Racer X.

  • @fratt41 Yes! and road rash!

  • great game.

  • Thanks for posting this vid. NFS on the original 3DO back when it was brand new was a blast! Kids nowadays may not think much of this as things have improved dramatically. But having grown up with the very first arcade video games and Atari 2600 console as a kid, experiencing all the improvements along the way has been a blast, one I'm glad to have been born early enough for.

  • @rich0319726 Well said.

  • @rich0319726 True. I'm 24 right now, and grown up playing games since the zx spectrum and on the pc when windows 3.1 was brand new. I must say that I don't know in which direction the new generation of kids is going to take videogames into, the generation in which games were already in 3d since they were born.

  • wow this makes me want to fukin find it now holy shit this looks fun as hell

  • the old NFS looks awesome. racing on a highway with exotic cars

  • where do i get this mod?

  • Very real! Thank you! I wish I had such a car! ¡El auto fantástico! ¡Gracias!

  • i wish the new ones were like this

  • I first played this game on my 486 dx2 66....this game looked and felt so real at the time. I remember doing burnouts and doughnuts i my ferrari

  • This game was sponsored by Road and Track. It took forever for games to have an interior view with working gauges that looked as good as this one, although Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed had a really nice one.

  • yep this is my 1st need for speed game, i grew up off of this

  • wow. cant even tell you how much i used to play this game. used to think it was the best game ever. that was in like 97 i think. thanks for the memories...

  • Opponent hits police car... too funny

  • Man. I would still play this game if I still had my 3DO.

  • yeah ihad a3do and didnt know this was on it. luckily psone got it.

  • Can someone put the annoying dude at end on youtube please?

  • Shoulders, does the word shoulder mean anything to you?......

  • best racing game ever made, beats anything made now.

  • if you would like to play 3d0 games on the pc download freedo 1.9 which is a 3d0emulator but you will need the bios which is not hard to find plus iso files you can find on some rom sites it plays like the original console and the good thing about the 3do games if you can find them were they had no copy protection so easy to copy

  • i had my 3do in 1994 cost me 650 uk pounds it came out before the sony ps1 and had better graphics but what killed it was the lack of good games due to sony had the best game houses for their console which came out in 1995 but the 3do had good games in the beginning but then the games got shit as sony pushed ahead so nobody made games for the 3do that were anygood and it died it,s a shame it could have been here today as like the ps3 is here today

  • @JOCKATEO, it wasn't just the lack of games that killed it, it was the price. I think I paid 800 dollars for mine back when it was released, and even after they lowed the price to $500 it was still way too much for most people to spend regardless of the games.

  • woow this is 3DO? amazing graphics for the time,

really amazing graphics.i need buy 3DO for my litle colection, but is impossible 3DO is a rare videogame. road rash 3DO is a nice game too.

    ty for video.

sorry for my ingles im brasilian^^

  • try ebay. they often send worldwide :)

  • yeah, i need buy a 3d0, hum ebay ty=)

    sorry for my ingles^^

  • This Ferrari looks like its barely pushing 45 while everything else on the road is going 15.

  • i remember one time i was playing this and i was about to win when a cop car came right in front of me, being a child back then i just stepped on it and ramed that copper. the crash was fantastic.

  • It';s this video that made me buy the damned game I think! I saw it being played on a 3D0 when I was however young (when they were in stores as a new console) and I wrote "NFS" on everything as a kid then! I mastered the game, then bought 2.. and by then was a hardcore racing sim fan. I'm happy this game existed, it's brought me to be the car enthusiast I am today and have done the things with cars and own what I have.

    Thank you EA and Pioneer!

  • Is this game the one of enjoying driving?

  • I do not understand how this could run on dos! dos had no gui! How could a full colour game with 3d graphics and sound run on such a basic os. The games title screen is probaly more sophisticated and colour full than the operating system.

  • DOS ftw

  • It has nothing to do with OS.

  • lololol

    there a software called DOS4GW

can usei all video capabilities.. better and faster than windows (3.11)

but this NFS is for 3DO

  • @mariomanmitch

The OS gui has absolutely nothing to do with the game. If that was the case, all DOS games should have been B&W with no graphics, just characters.

Many dozens of DOS games had such 3D graphics. Think of Doom, Duke Nukem, Tomb Raider, every flight simulation game and many many more.

  • My fucking favorite console in my life :D

  • even now i play this game..its awsome..im felling bad that i have a dual operating system to play only NFS 1 and Need for speed High stakes

  • yeah man what a great sound this version has!!!

  • 3:15 - U can see it already had a collision system. SO amazing

  • That's all I used to play it for. Man, Demolition Derby was nothing compared to this. Then again, this game was a bit shitty. But then the crashes were awesome. All in all, even stevens. Especially for back then.

  • i have a verry hard and stiff cock

  • holy shit this brings back memories :)

  • couldn't you just back up over the finish line and then go forward and win automatically? haha i was like 5 and that's what i always did

  • the old need for speeds were the best.i just wish they used this and updated it!good times!

  • @dann756 I completly agree with you. Do you know a way i can emulate and obtain a good image like this one.??? and way they do not digitilize games anymore like crime patrol and mad dog. REal good images for an onl console

  • Thanks for sharing. Great times !

  • ah man thanks to remmember me my great times in the past i just loved when i recived nfs1 in 98 i love the car you use (ferrari 512tr) but i always play with lamborguine becuz it was the only one who can get 216 mph(if i remmeber) well idiots ppl says that not nfs 1 dumb ppl. if i remmember nsf 1 got porche 911 carrera acura rsx mazda ferrari 512 tr lamborguine supra viper and others =)

man thanks a lot i love your vid at alpine part 1 its my favorit place to run becuz u can jump a lot THANKS

  • This REALLY was "the dogs dangly bits" in it,s day. I spent many happy hours playing it. I was so addicted, I,d sneak down in the middle of the night, just to improve my times.

Can this be downloaded from anywhere to play on P.C ?

  • in my opinion this is the best nfs-game of all. thy for upload....

is there a way to play that game on vista?

  • I wanna know too

    Pls, if somebody knows, tell.

    Thx

  • @SchmarthurSchmooner There are 3do emulators out there.

  • this was 1995, Dude. Show some respect (to you girfriends pussy too - you dont want everybody to play that do ya?)

  • Oh sure ? For sure she is a #d girl that u call girlfriend and when u mention to make sex, u masturbate yourself and think this is for real. Grow up kiddie!

  • why do my nipples look/taste/feel like burnt pancacke rations?

  • thanks,.

  • Sooooo much smoother and better looking that the Saturn version, one of my favorite 3DO titles!

    SegaSaturn(dot)co(dot)uk

  • Is this the new NSF for the Wii?

  • ha ha

  • no way man, this game out a long time ago.

  • are you retarded?

  • naw man, this is the one on the PS 1 and THE SEGA SATURN and the PANASONIC 3DO your thinking about NEED FOR SPEED NITRO

  • Wow, can't remember how good the graphics had been! Doom lagged on the 3DO, but handle NFS? Weird! Anyways, this game is awesome. No popups, and after a few minutes you actually felt like driving. The sound was great.

  • that was because doom was very badly ported to the 3do

obviously doom should be better on the 3do had any effort be put into porting it over

  • what car is it? Alfa Romeo 75?

Does it work with Windows Vista?

  • You know, I used to play this when I was 2 years old. The car is a Ferrari and I doubt it works on Vista. I tried it. Didn't work.

  • awesome game.

Looks rly good for being this good and nice graphics.

  • Cheex blows goats!

  • do you got the racing music going on?

  • Wow this looks so awesome, reminds me of the good ol' Need For Speed series BEFORE they went for that "shitty" street racing tuner scene after Hot Pursuit 2 :(

  • I think last good NFS game was first Underground. The first NFS gamme was great for it's time. I remember, how awesome was graphics and FMV scenes with those cars. Epic Win!

  • This game was so good for its time, i was totally hooked. it felt so real. it still looks good now.

  • My favorite thing was was to jump on coming cars in the beginning of that track. It was AWESOME. I wish I didn't lose track of my 3do over the years.

  • amazing game, i spent so much time on it back then

  • i still play this from time to time. its the best game ever made i think. gameplay is still amazing even today. A true masterpiece

  • This game looks suprisingly good for 15 years ago. Even watching the video reminds he of how intense the play was at the time. I went from SNES to this!! It was amazing.

  • I rember when this 1st come out everyone was blown away by it because it was so realistic it was the ultimate driving simulator, its such a shame all the games they make now have such a arcade feel about them. LOL i rember cheating when i use to play my mate over dialup, i had that warrior cars stats copyed into the rx7 so my mate thought i was driving the worst car in the game but couldn't beat me ROFL

  • This is so much better than the playstation version, the gameplay and graphics are so much more something and incredible than the ps1 version, which I do not like that at all. It was too difficult and graphics sucked. I didnt start liking nfs on playstation until NFS2, and that game was great.

But hey, NFS1 3DO is brilliant graphics for 1994!

  • I love this game =)

  • Damn, just watching this takes me back 2 the early 90s. This was my favorite track. U can really pick up top speeds on this map. It looked so beautiful 4 a 32 bit system. This is the 1st 'Need 4 Speed' & then all the others came out...

  • this looks strikingly realistic for a 1994 game...

  • i think it is the best NFS ever, simple, most realistic then all new nfs series,u can smash and crash your car :D,police....pretty cool ! 5 STARS GAME !

  • Damn, pretty impressive graphics for 94 I gotta admit.

  • Simple game design at it's best.. beautiful cars racing through long stretches of beautiful scenic landscape. Fuck the new shit with the obligatory blaring hip hop music and the pimp my ride faux coolness.

  • i really miss this 1st person cabin view. i wonder why they took it away after nfs 5? they're putting it back for shift though

  • nfs shift will blow

  • how so? is it because it doesn't follow the original idea of racing?

  • THERE YOU GO! Finally someone who understands the real concept of NFS. NFS Shift will be all about messing up your ride to perfection once again.

  • OLD GOOD GAME!

  • legendary game when i was a kid

  • what is the point of this? you just drive and drive?

  • actually you race and race. if you want a game for just driving and driving, look for Desert Bus. it's a game where you have to hold down a button for 8 hours. and nothing else happens

  • sounds crotch-moistening insultingly amazing
