  • yea i agree jitspring same with the klu klux klan in school they only say they killed the blcks but they also kled the catholics

  • Don't know much about history...do you strke3andout... in LEFT FIELD? Stalin, Lenin, Marx, Hitler, Mussolini ring any bells in that noggin of yours? All were atheists. 6 million Jews creamated. 600,000+ Catholics also killed in the death kamps. Not to mention the slaughter of 70+ million in Russia of Catholics and Orthodox and all of the Catholics/Christians killed in China and elsewhere, like Africa, Burma by Communists. The Chi-coms are atheists by the way. Your point is... pointless.

  • Susie Q, I don't think you understood my comment. Please read it again.

Saying atheism is the cause of these things is the same as saying the non-belief in Zeus is the cause. It is your beliefs that drive you, not your non-beliefs. There were other reasons why those people did this (and by the way, Hitler was a catholic)

  • Charles Manson's lack of moral beliefs and complete lack of any moral sensibilitie caused him to influence the Manson-Family Murders. Possessing-Beliefs and lacking-beliefs are causal factors influencing one's behavior and view of morality. In addition, atheism is not defined as a localized lack of belief in this or that particular god, but a universal lack of belief in ANY gods. So your calling a Christian an atheist due to his lack of belief in Poseidon commits a logical fallacy here.

  • If you think atheism, when wedded to ideology, is simply non-belief, you're either incredibly naive or simply dishonest. Understand that atheism is the foundation upon which communism, for example, is built. Atheism is thus inextricably intertwined with communism, and as such is transformed into anything but simple non-belief.

  • No, Hitler was not a Catholic. If he was baptized as such, he later utterly abandoned it.

We hear much about Hitler's extermination of Jews. What we hear little about is his extermination of a million Catholics.

  • I just heard someone on Catholic Radio blame Atheists for 100+ million deaths in the 20th century! Since atheism is just the non-belief in a god, they could just as easily have blamed these deaths on non believers of Poseidon. That means every one of you! (I hope :-) )

  • Obviously you're unaware that communism is fundamentally rooted in atheism; that is, entirely focused on praxis, on remaking the world, and hence necessarily devoted to the cutting off of all forms of transcendence, especially belief in God. This is not just my interpretation, but the teaching of Marxism itself. To kill in the name of the "dictatorship of the proletariat" is necessarily to kill in the name of atheism.

  • @Jitpring You have got to be kidding me. This argument is old and, frankly tiring. These things were NOT done because of atheism. Come on now.

  • The question isn't whether the argument is old or tiring, but whether it's true - however old or tiring. I'm afraid it's tragically true, to which mountains of bodies, hundreds of millions of corpses, testify. Don't blame me for your refusal to know this.
