Finally got my shot a couple hours ago. I grabbed it at safeway (in seattle) while getting a prescription filled. When I asked when they had it, they said they could do it right away. Awesome! He said I was lucky because the appointments are completely booked until mid-january. So them having an extra dose was a bit of a fluke.
Anyways, good stuff. I wanted it done in time for my holiday parties. This saved me a stop during my next trip to Canada.

The reason you had trouble getting the vaccine is because the Government restricted a massive portion of the Shot to at Risk groups but failed to convince all of those groups to go get the shot. They had stockpiles of the vaccine sitting around and people who wanted them, but because they were not the Risk groups they couldn't get them.

I had the vaccination a few weeks back because I'm diabetic and in the "high risk" group. I was told to wait in the clinic for ten minutes afterward to make sure I didn't have a reaction, but was fine, even did some martial arts in the evening. The next two days my back was really painfully stiff but once that cleared up I've been fine :) Here's hoping the conspiracy nuts are wrong, eh? :p

I am aware of no deaths associated with H1N1 vaccine and 10,000 deaths from the flu, less than seasonal flu BUT most were young children and non-elderly adults, many of them perfectly healthy. Now, that's out of millions who have had the flu, so if you don't mind taking the small risk and don't want to get the trouble to find vaccine, fine. But don't criticize people who want to protect themselves with a very safe vaccine.

Finally got my shot a couple hours ago. I grabbed it at safeway (in seattle) while getting a prescription filled. When I asked when they had it, they said they could do it right away. Awesome! He said I was lucky because the appointments are completely booked until mid-january. So them having an extra dose was a bit of a fluke.
Anyways, good stuff. I wanted it done in time for my holiday parties. This saved me a stop during my next trip to Canada.

I wish medicine were as highly scrutinized as physics is. I really do, then again modern medicine delayed by time could effectively kill many more. If science could just have all the money that drug companies put into advertising ................................

I refuse to get it, though not for any of the lame reasons stated. I don't get any flu vaccine. Nothing against vaccinations at all. I'm 31, my younger half siblings and I have never caught the flu. I don't want to get the flu but I sure don't work to avoid it either. We'll see if I get the flu, if so I may change my stance about the whole thing. Till then, I consider it giving my immune system exercise. Obviously it's beaten it time and time again. (statistically had to)

I don't get vaccines when your young. People should trust there immune system when they're young. I had a 103 fever and just let my badass body fight through it...

Depends how old you are at the time, my 1 year old nephew gets infection after infection, half his life he's been sick with something.
A Kids immune system doesn't fully develop until about 7-9 Years old.

It's also Genetic, scientists have discovered that the younger you look at a certain age that you should look older is a clear Marker that you're young on the Genetic level and have a Higher probability of living longer than your average man/women.

I didn't know their was a study that showed a hypothesis that the genes governing skin cell reproduction stability were related to lifespan. Please give a link, I'd be fascinated as most people think I'm 20. (funny as I'm eleven years older, smoker and a heavy drinker) Please give reliable links, if not I'll read crap ones as well.

The reason you had trouble getting the vaccine is because the Government restricted a massive portion of the Shot to at Risk groups but failed to convince all of those groups to go get the shot. They had stockpiles of the vaccine sitting around and people who wanted them, but because they were not the Risk groups they couldn't get them.

Sick for a FEW WEEKS??? Man, it must suck to not have an immune system, due to all those antibiotics and shit you keep letting doctors inject you with. I'm lucky if I'm sick for a few HOURS.
