I hate it that Everytime a DLC comes out for a Game I own, the DLC achievements are added onto the achievement list... forcing people who actually care about gamerscore to buy a DLC to get the achievements...Plus with Xbox.. Xbox Live Achievements are just a way to scam achievement whores out of their money to pay for a live subscription. I hope the next gen consoles don't have achievements

I like achievements. Gives games more playability if you have something else to to do. I kept playing the first ratchet and clanks because of the hidden accomplishments that came with the game. I do agree that people shouldn't shun or go overboard on the bs that comes with achievements, but humans are humans and humans. Simply progressing through the required parts of the game should not be an achievement.

I remember when achievements meant unlocking secrets. You know, like unlocking characters in smash bros, or unlocking all the cars in Mario Kart. Getting your first Dark Chao in Sonic Adventure 2. Clearing an entire map in Castlevania or Metroid. Obtaining the Biggoron's sword.... Finding the Spur in Cavestory, and being able to try out the hardest stage in the game. Those are achivements.

I remember when achievements meant unlocking secrets. You know, like unlocking characters in smash bros, or unlocking all the cars in Mario Kart. Getting your first Dark Chao in Sonic Adventure 2. Clearing an entire map in Castlevania or Metroid. Obtaining the Biggoron's sword.... Finding the Spur in Cavestory, and being able to try out the hardest stage in the game. Those are achivements.

I never understood achievements- maybe it is because I play Nintendo games?
Should you not get in-game rewards more completing certain objectives, anyway? When I complete a level, for instance, I don't need to be told what I did nor what it got me- it should be logic that the more of a game you play, the more you should unlock.

Minecraft has something like this but worse, THE ACHIEVEMENTS RESET EVERY TIME YOU UPDATE TEH GAME! SO every time i reset my game to remove mods I have installed then when i turn it back on and open my inventory:

game achievments are often somthing the players can try and get after they beat the game, or a completly bored.

@JDroneX exactly but they make the games too short for that reason its not that they ran out of the resources necessary to complete the game to even further heights ive worked first hand with video game developing stuff and trust me its not as hard as you think so they are deliberately making games too short and making the release dates of sequels to the game that they try to force you to get the achievements

@JDroneX -_- yes i have why do people get so amazed or excited when i tell them this? but specifically i worked on (or helped on) the battlefield series and 2 cods seems weird tht a 14 yr old helped make big games and stuff but its not amazing to me unless i made the whole game just helping create it doesnt seem tht amazing :/

worst acheivment ever: on Dead or Alive 4, beat story mode with all characters, and unlock all hidden characters. wtf? thta game is freaking impossible due to the stupid super weapon that can kill you in a few hits. thus the reason I dont play that game anymore. I get what foamy is saying.
