    it takes weeks to be able to do a couple and months to master it. just practice practice practice. i usally practice at a friends for 30 min and i make a lot of progress that way. it isnt something u learn over night. u need to want it. GO FOR IT!

    ummmm try getting more speed and kick harder and always try to stay on your upper back to avoid hurting your hips. good luck. practice and you'll get it

  • I'm just wondering, as I am starting to break dance, if just practicing all the various moves is enough to get you strong enough to do them. I don't have a lot of time in my life, so finding time to go to a gym and strength train is hard. However, is this necessary? I've heard that I should learn to toprock and six-step first, then freeze. Will continuously doing freezes build up enough strength to progress?

  • The gym is a waste of time unless your practicing balance exercises there. I used to not be able to lift myself off the ground but yes continuously doing freezes will build you enough strength to do more complex freezes. Start getting really good with the turtle freeze using both hands to get your body use to holding itself for prolonged periods of time. Eventually it will become too easy as you move on to harder freezes and soon you will barely notice your weakness.

  • @Albion72 Hmmm.. honestly a gym isn't necessary, yes this is necessary if you want to take breakdancing seriously, it's kind of like your first power move! :-) but yes I do recommend learning to toprock and six-step first, you'll get more familiar with the aspect(lol)

  • Keep practicing! Try to learn the turtle freeze first! From there try to hold yourself up on one hand, thats how i learned it. It's not gonna happen right away

  • i can do 15 pull-ups...30 pushups n 100 sit-ups n hav 8 pack abs n hav a fit body n dance well but just cant do d windmill :(

  • You can try lifting your legs up so your right leg has enough space to go through. Also, spread your legs wide enough without closing them (I'm not if that's a problem or not). And again, I don't know if it's a problem, but it's twist then collapse REALLY FAST.

    I hope this advice helps. Sorry if it's confusing and doesn't help.

  • you aren't collapsing properly, i had the same mistake. collapse to the side.

  • Hey, great video but im have a lot of trouble not on the video. But the positioning of the turtle freeze. How do u get comfortable on the stabbing part because im always having either breathing trouble or just pain lol. Is there a way to get use to this position??? And thank you.

  • um, a good place i find to stab is the side of your abs, ushually when i go into a turtle freeze i kinda flex my abs, and stab the side :)

  • So is it a great idea to work on abs first in order to get more comfortable?? Honestly i have no abs watsooever, and im skinny. Not SUPER SKINNY. But just skinny, so my pointy elbow jabbs straight into my guts and makes it hard for me to breath lol.

    my house is mostly carpet do i need a slidey surface like wooden floors to practice this? and then i have tiles in some parts but theyre not slidey so what would be best?

  • depends, for moves like windmills crickets and swipes carpet works fine but if you wanna work on footwork... probably tiles

  • if you actually have the collapse then you can do windmills sliding easily on carpet or even concrete.

    however learning it's easier if you have hardwood or w/e

  • do you have to wear a sweater and sweat pants and a wood floor and will you break any thing because my parents are very strict and i would have to give up break dancing and i think i saw you at san deigo at the mall with your dad

  • You don't NEED to wear anything I'm wearing. It'll provide protection and reduce friction. You MIGHT break something. Practice in a large area because small spaces will hinder you physically and mentally (you'll be afraid to do stuff cuz you're afraid of breaking stuff). If you don't have a large area, get some cardboard boxes and tape it to the sidewalk outside.
