@RevelationWarriors Shows actually don't live and die by viewership. It's by how much they can stand to gain from the advertising during their shows. With G4, since the network doesn't know what it's doing, advertising revenue sucks, most shows get cancelled, and they have to get the cheapest shows that will at least have someone watching (Cops, Movies, Ninja Warror). Then, you have the rare successes that are also cheap after an initial cost (Ninja Warrior, X-Play), and a few network mainstays

@RevelationWarriors That was the original idea, but not necessarily nowadays. You can watch a show while skipping the commercials (tivo, change channels and the like). So, as far as I know, advertisers feeling uncomfortable could just pull their ads at certain times (shows).

But hey, I could be wrong. I haven't seen the numbers.
