  • I am in bin B :( but is cool cuz i can run every single game out there thanks gtx 460

  • I think Linus needs to memorize my nickname. Cuz I'm big fan of he.

  • I'm really enlightened by this!

  • Very interesting.

    Thanks.

  • It's called price discrimination when manufacturer ripping off those enthuists who are willing to pay a premium and still get profit by selling cheap to the majority of other consumers. But basically the get the same thing example like the hexcore i7 980 cant even beat the overclocked i7 2600k but its priced over $1000 while 2600k only cost$300

  • @wangsishuo speeds aren't everything six cores = 12 threads with i7's which is much better than 8threads

  • You didn't tell us how to know if the product we are buying is grade A or B when purchasing.

  • @MrNice399 Derp.

  • Nice - Can you help me out with one of those Intel binned 7ghz 12 threaded processors?

  • good information Thanks

  • lol i think i got a good 5850, and it's a genreic radeon that came from my gateway, and it can hit speeds at 1ghz + (after screwing aorumd with msi after burner to tweak the voltages of course) and its almost a year old and its still going.

  • Good video here. Nothing too fancy yet explains the concept of 'binning' much akin to sorting the size of eggs from a chicken.

  • however i would accept the contain of that B bin :)

  • Silicone? CPU's aren't made out of fake boobies. I think you mean silicon :P

  • But will it blend?

  • Really nice explanation :) i love your videos about PC Hardware :) Keep going !

  • Hey guys! I got a question...

Linus mentioned how we would unlock cores on AMD CPUs because of the binning process, maybe a crappy quad-core turned into a decent dual-core. But then, why can't we do this on Intel CPUs??? What's up with their way of binning??

    REPLIES would be appreciated!!! :D

  • Contest = Skeletron

  • @heloimutube

Not all chips are made the same. One common tactic to cannibalize the market is permanent gimping of hardware. A good example is if Intel made a quad core that required too much voltage and had two cores be unstable then the bad cores may be destroyed beyond repair with a laser and the two good cores left intact to make a good dual core chip. Some examples of weak locking exist (Cayman series) while others are stringent (Intel chips).

  • I remember the 7900 GTO. Binning at its best.

  • No mension of the other part of the binning process, Supply and Demand?

  • whats weird is that all AMD quad, tri and dual core cpu's use the same chip except for six cores and sempron but intel almost NEVER does it except for clock speeds. intel dumpes cpu's with one faulty core, or 2!!!

  • The Central Limit Theorem dares you to overclock and unlock cores.

  • THOSE DIRTY JEW BASTARDS AT INTEL AND AMD

  • Nice back ground i knew it was in procs but this is the first time i see it in a video about some products

  • Great video and nice to see Linus answering people's comments.

Linus touched on unlocking cores but don't go out and buy a processor expecting to get cores unlocked. It's very luck dependent. Different 'batch' numbers have different unlock potential from another 'batch' although they are the 'same' product. Think of unlocking as a stroke of luck if you manage it and don't buy to unlock.

  • Those Ecos are fantastic overclockers. Pump up the voltage to 1.5v and you can get them up to 2000Mhz on a good mobo.

  • every CPU & GPU can be Overclocked so whats the big deal & also Over Clocking a CPU to 5Ghz is just a Over Kill.

  • Linus is charmingly gay.

  • can u upgrade ur intro song aswell? wud be great to have a song that pumps up the consumer before they watch this 4 min vid, 9 min vid etc.

  • The new background is a bit distracting. Too colorful? I like the background on your previous videos better -- like you were in a tech lab or something. Anyway, I still like your videos.

  • I'm sorry Linus, but when I saw the video thumbnail it reminded me of the guy who advertises ShamWow. :P

  • Please put some hardware into my bin LOL

    Great tip :)

  • the new tech tips set is sooo 80s!

  • Bin B FTW

  • nice i finally know how binning is done

  • Keep up the good work man!

  • mad props lol

  • at least we know that the camera man is white

  • lol no way you are gonna get "lucky" when buying ram... unless chics start to dig ram ???

  • Lol the background makes it look like a kids show. Didn't even center the writing

  • Nice... but I prefered the old set, lol. Felt more personal.

This set makes it feel like a wall in a warehouse... which it just might be, lol.

They should have just given him a decent sized sign that he could set up anywhere he chooses to do the tips... rather then a large wall.

  • Great info Linus!

  • Nice to know that. Thanks

  • i liek this channel, really helpfull in a lot of ways, just one thing, you have to get rid of that cheesy picture at the top where it says: More Tech Tips?

  • I love these videos , nice stuff . thx =)

  • i prefer the old set

  • Linus, I just found this channel.. I been watching your other videos tho.

You're a really good speaker and a smart lad.. You need more music and a better intro but the background is cool :)

  • Great Video! Thanks alot for the explanation.

You are make great videos that helps to alot of ppl.

Thanks for the video, now i got the point with the procesor.

Please make a video about bining at Sapphire3 cards!. :)

  • its not really percision engineering if the binning process is needed in my eye's

  • lol at 1:58

  • This guy such a queer.

  • @BlindGuardian050 I used to think that too but after watching his vids I think not, he's a cool guy imo

  • wew.. thankz ...

  • good videos

  • No binning for intel lol, tooooo many diff sockets and chips and whatnot

  • Nice and informing video Linus

    (&background =D!)

  • i got a i5 750.

it cant be binned with the i5 6xx ones cos they are dual core rather than quad. does that mean it is actually a i7 8xx series just with hyper threading forced off, or would it just mean i5 750 binning was just between i5 750 and i5 750S, and the rest garbage?

  • @Splooshiba i5 750 is identical in production process to i7 860, i7 870, and i7 875K.

    Just different bins.

  • @NCIXcom What's the i5-2400 identical too?

  • did ghost writer paint your wall?

  • very helpfull, thx..

  • BTW, i can overclock my i7-930 to 4.02GHz with the default voltage..

    i think 1.19v-1.21, is this good ?

  • Thank you linus! this is very usefull video.

  • This is good, i have a CPU thats needs 1,39 volt for 4Ghz, but other CPU's can run that fine with 1,2875 volt.

So if i know with the binding process that i buy good one.

  • very interesting

  • Thanks for this great video.

I have a question: How to identify a premium product from a value one?

    thanks

  • pls change mic, in linus tech tips is really better sound than in ncix videos.

  • @zelpel Coming soon!

  • thanks this helped!!!

  • that background looks like it should be on a saturday morning cartoon

  • Nice background

  • you should have sticker give-aways with your new set as the design

  • i get binned to death

  • he forgot to input brand into all this..brand names could increase pricing

  • Linus, the new room looks great, but it has that empty apartment sound.

You voice is a little muffled & echo-ie being dispersed through all that empty space.

Maybe lapel mic time? or add something to the room to improve acoustics?

  • @LasraelLarson It's coming soon. We've got a $900 Sennheiser lapel mic on order. Been waiting for the budget to permit it.

  • @NCIXcom Lol, you don't have to spend $900 on a mic to sound really good, spend like $400 and you will still have studio quality sound. Especially when you are just, doing some thing on Youtube, which cant stream high quality FLAC files or anything....

  • @NCIXcom 900 DOLLAR MICROFONE!!!!!!! OMG!

  • @NCIXcom Thank the good lord. No more ubiquitous rectangle on your collar.

  • @NCIXcom damn a 900 dollar mic !

  • @NCIXcom is it worth it tho ?

  • Omg we saw the Camera Mans Hands!!

  • hehe linus himself understood after a while there that thoes ecos wherent a good exaple :P i actually find them better than the dominators coz now they have a newer revision of them that coasts the same and i've got thoes one for example and jsut to further explain what i mean: my gskill ecos are running 7-7-7-24 1600 4gb @ 1.35v! if you don't count them as better than the dominators you suck :P plus they are cheaper, and cooler coz of the low voltage, and more overklocking friendly... i love em

  • @hugthekkk You were really lucky with those ones. Ecos are good RAM, but they are not (normally) as good as a high end Dominator kit.

You've got some Golden value RAM there :)

  • design = not bad

    colours = hard bitchslap

    :) still good thou.

  • i did learn something new today... thanks NCIX Tech Tips

  • with amd amd u can overclock or unlock hidden micro, also more stuff. intel no n now i c copy of amd with unlock micro by intel jajajajaja nice joke

  • with jst amd. intel pay u again. we know intel is the master of bining n lie. intel qpi only 16 bit half duplex. n half of speed clock. soo???

  • NCIX dosnt mind using their cash on this show ?

some other companies that do this stopped like that show on youtube (i forgot that name the one with beuer)

  • @CRAKIZGOOD NCIX is committed to developing the PC community and helping our customers gain a better understanding of technology.

  • @NCIXcom

such powerful words u brought tears to my eyes

may the force be with u

  • @NCIXcom you make great videos. keep at it.

  • @CRAKIZGOOD tiger direct

  • @CRAKIZGOOD The company your thinking of is Tigerdirect. They still do shows but all of the veterans quit. Like Albert. Their subscribers is down the toilet.

  • what bin does the ati radeon 5770 go into?

  • @legoman8544 value

  • so a amd phenom II x4 955 is same as 965? (thats what i believe)

if the 965 same as the 955 just a bit more overclocked cant i just then buy the 955 and OC it?

thats what im planning to do buy a amd phenom II x4 955 and OC it

  • tnx sebastian!

  • ty linus + camerman

  • I like the new background...but its a little to distracting...maybe once I get used to it that will change though.

  • Mad Props...... HA!

  • don't like it, prefer blue background

  • Great video! I only heard of the CPU one. Didn't know that other parts could also be like that.

  • aahahaha lol @ linus's tone of voice and the expression he makes when he says ''and i hope you learned something today'' :D

  • Great vid Linus! Very informative.

  • great review

  • Great video, in the next one can you explain dogging ;)

  • maybe you'll get lucky too

  • Great vid. I never knew I was curious about what binning was =P

  • alot of people are saying to unbox the camera man which sound kinda........you know the word. why not just say to show the camera man instead..

  • you've got to unbox cameraman...

  • Great video as always!

  • "Pro sessor" makes me smile every time

  • unbox the camera man we want to see him :D

  • So seems to me like binning is sorting things for their quality...?

  • I think binning is a good idea. It lets the consumer decide what they want and keeps the consumer's cost's down. btw, just subbed to this channel. so far i like it :D

  • Another great vid!

  • interesting!!! where do u learn all these stuff????

  • The set reminds me of YTV's zone from 4-6PM channel 25.

  • I got a amd phenom x2 Black edition and i actually got it to go in 3 cores, and overclocked a lil bit.

  • Where is monitor on the wall, like on old set?

  • Keep this in mind consumers, info to live by.

  • Bin C = Athlons.

  • You should put the TV on the left, where there's a blank piece of wall :)=

  • interesting, i guess it explains why some people are able to take ram, processers to slighty different overclocked ceilings oven for the "same" chips

  • Is ther anybody who isnt shy standing in front of this camera expect than linux? ^^

  • SSD has a calculator?

  • mad propz

  • Wow... Great video, couldnt be explained in a simplier way. Thanks

  • i like the set but i think the background is to mutch to the right

  • @LauwereysM you are right, we are still adjusting to the new set.

  • @NCIXcom the TV goes on the other side

  • @NCIXcom the cameraman needs to be on camera

  • @NCIXcom You can put your cat tree on the left to fill in the gap. :-)

  • @NCIXcom hes not right, but the background is! ooooh see what I did thar?

  • Nice first video on the new set man. I really like the new set. :)

  • useful video :]

  • the comment below pivotAX is gay

  • Thank you Linus, great video. :)

  • Binning has been around forever but its good to let more people to understand it.

This is not only in the computer industry, its EVERYWHERE!

  • Thanks Linus, much appreciated :3

  • really useful video, thanks :)

  • we wanna see the camera man! lol =D

  • PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO WITH CAMERA MAN! I WANT TO SEE HIM!

  • Thanks this explained so much =D I'm one of those who unlocked their 555 to 4 core stable =)

  • Wow thx!

  • k

    ghjk

  • You did'nt start the video by saying "so".. :p

  • @NordicJib he still said so at some point

  • i have to put my pentium 4 in bin z soon :D

  • Great video

  • Bin c should have been called "recycle bin" instead of garbage! :P

  • @rattletop does it matter... honestly

  • @XLR84SPEED xD just having fun.

  • @rattletop I lol'ed.

  • I did this, went for a 550 BE hoping to unlock it.

Havent tried yet as I am concerned I dont know how to do it right, and dont want to ruin my MoBo by putting the wrong BIOS on it.

  • i have an X4 965 :D

  • AMD is the master of binning. buy a Phenom II x2 555 and unlock it to the 955. awesome value!

  • this was interesting! shame i'd be looking at bin b for myself :d

  • Heh?

  • gigabyte gauntlet binning!!!

  • so components cost so much due to binning failure rates :(

  • Cool explanation. Nice video.

  • I think that an easier way to explain "binning" on CPUs, is by looking at the core speed.

AMD has 5 different X4 models, and they all have a difference of about 200MHz.

  • Linus you are the best and prove great points.

  • nice video :P

  • maby we can now make up a model of the cameraman, we have the legs, body and arms only the head left now.

  • the comment below me is GAY

  • @PivotAX screw you :(

  • @Nille006 lol you said sweet haha :p

  • @Nille006 i wrote my comment when "DestroyArea52" commented srry you had not commented while i was writing
