Is it rare for a J10 to have a manual transmission? I assume the one in this truck is the T176? I am currently refurbishing a 1981 Jeep CJ5 Laredo. It's equipped w/the T176. Challis, Idaho

I'm not sure if it's rare. A laredo is rare for sure. Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a T176.

LOVE the gun rack :D I'm thinking about buying one of these old Jeep pickups, and I found one I really like. Could I ask your opinion on it? It's a '79 J20 a few towns over, minor rust, and all it needs repaired in a new door pannel, new heater core, and some interior work on the bench seat. Runs great, or so the guy tells me. I have yet to actually go out and see it myself. $1200. Good buy?

The roll bar is from Jeep and was dealer installed and the lights are marchal driving lights also from Jeep.

I love this Truck. Beautiful. I had an opportunity to get my hands on one 10 years ago but I missed the boat. It wasn't a Laredo or in nearly as nice of shape, but mechanically bulletproof. These things are ultra rare, and to find one that hasn't been mudded, beat up or molested with lift kits...wow. Does your 4-speed have the ultra-low granny-gears? The one I drove sounded like it was screaming at 60 MPH. Hang on to it and keep it clean (unless you want to sell it to me) haha

It's my garage queen because it has only 80k on it and is in excellent condition. It is irreplaceable not to mention it has been garaged it's entire 27 year life.
