Reply to 40bcoots: Since my father is now deceased, Ludzu. As you know, these brave Latvian Patriots were fighting for freedom. He could never return to his beloved Latvija, but I did last year. I stood on the foundation of the house where he was born. I say with tears in my eyes, because it was burned to the ground by the Russians because my 60 year old grandfather could not supply the commissar with enough firewood, and was sent to jail!!Briva Latvija!!

@ThePetederk .. so far I haven't been to Latvia yet .. am hoping to make it next year. There are very few native Latvians from Latvia left where I live; so I would like to do it before they are all gone. I have found some of the adresses / buildings where my parents lived, thanks to Google Earth.

They are soldiers and never did any crime but protected their home from Russian invaders who were as the same as Nazi and even worse.
