  • Hi David, I bought your basic Pattern course - and I have to say it's all the stuff I've been looking for, for years. I really enjoy your blues and jazz stuff, and look forward to getting more of your courses soon.

    Cheers from Downunder,

    Gary Shepherd

  • I see you're playing in G. I've been playing jazz piano for over fifty years and we very seldom would play the blues in G.. usually in F or C or B flat. Any particular reason for G -- just curious.

  • Hello David,

Enjoyed the clip. Kind regards from an internet student of yours from some years back.

  • nice video thnx...

  • Hi David. Hope you are well. How about some new material! I've bought all your lessons, - and probably would have if they had been a lot more money.

  • David,

You are fantastic!!! I've been watching you here on you tube, and now I i-tunes. Your great!

  • Hi David, thanks for the full song. It is quite a signature tune by now. I think you should have your own T.V music show. It would certainly be very entertaining. Something like the 'Later with Jules Holland' show we have in England! Just a thought - but I can see it comming! I was thinking of posting a couple of vids myself soon - just to join in. Maybe my rendition of your blues 14, or amazing grace. Is that appropriate.

  • mleeblues - thanks for your comments. I'd love to see/hear some of your work on the keyboard. Post it! Best wishes - David Sprunger

  • Hi David, I'v just about got to the end of chapter 14. For me it was very helpful in learning ways to incorporate some really nice jazz chords into a blues piece. Thanks, I'm looking forward to 15! I just wondered, do you play the hammond parts in your band as well as piano when you play live? I know in bands I've played in the keyboard player usually has to play piano and organ - although not necessarily at the same time! Anyhow, whoever plays hammond on your tracks always sounds good.

  • Hi mleeblues - thanks for the kind words. Yes I do play the Hammond tracks. In the studio, I do them seperately, but live I run the B3 module (Roland Vintage patch #69) with the piano, using two Ernie Ball pedals to bring the B3 in/out as well as control rotor speed. Makes my feet dance around like a crazy monkey though... :)

  • David- All that I can say is that you are the best. I thank God for you and your videos. I have learned so much from them. You are so inspiring to me.

  • hi David. Discovering your site last year was the biggest boost to my playing. Do you think it would be possible at some point to do any practise backing tracks to use for practising base lines, comping, soloing etc. I know we have chapter 11 for the scales - maybe they could be used for this. Also what about doing a chapter demonstrating some good old fashioned boogie-woogie! Still very popular, and part of the blues. Sorry to be so demanding, but at least I'm enthusiastic!

  • "...at least I'm enthusiastic"

no kidding! that is so very cool to hear your enthusiasm coming through. i bet you're a fantastic player with drive like that. Backing tracks - I've toyed with that idea and may pursue it later this year. Boogie-woogie - you're right that is essential stuff. Did you see Jerry Lee Lewis play classic Boogie on the piano in DC on the 4th of July yesterday? He rocked the place and he must be close to 90 yrs old. That's so fantastic. Best wishes - David Sprunger

  • Your fantastic, and one thing i dont think anyone has yet pointed out, other than being an amazing pianist, your an amazing teacher. Im new to keyboard so all i really done was phat chord voicings, but the actual teaching technique is perfect, you go into the perfect amount of detail and everything just helps so much! idk if anyones commented on the actual teaching as opposed to the playing, but there you have it, great playing, and perfect teaching! keep em coming! (5 stars on all vids so far)

  • there are so many things I could say about it but it's just simply fantastic and very inspiring

  • Awesome! this is inspiring

  • Can I cut you're hands off for myself?

  • ouuuuch!

  • David - I came on over from your friend Shelley Kristen's website and glad I did - love the way you present the material and I look forward to learning from some of the lessons on your site and adding a pinch of extra blue spice to our worship times. God bless you in all your ministries.

  • Thank you for your kind words Anthony. I'm honored to be part of what you're doing. Hope to release Blues 14 within the next couple weeks. I am totally amazed at the number of blues students coming from the Netherlands! Must be some great music happening up there... God bless you my brother.

  • Would just like to say that you have blessed me on my journey of learning the piano! Each level I a approach I ask God to send me another Angel to learn from...You are one of those Angels my friend! God Bless you in all you do! You are blessing to many who are trying to find their way on this beautiful instrument!

  • Wow that's super cool JT. Thank you for your kind words - I'm amazed that I get to be part of the musical life of many people like yourself. BTW - My wife and I would really like to visit NZ someday. I hear there is a huge jazz/blues climate. Best - David Sprunger

  • How do you do that I got the first rift G-A#-C-C#-D-C....and so forth and the little trembly thing I do not get the part before the trembly little thing with the slide off C# onto D-F then the rest is to complicated and I even got the bass really easy

  • the tremelo - you're right that is super tough. I think it's one of the toughest riffs for me as well. (It's stolen from the tremelo that harmonica players use :) I'm just finishing up Blues 14 where I go into the tremelo in detail. Should have it posted here soon if I don't fall asleep at the computer!

  • I bought the complete set and have came a long way in a short period of time.I also use utube piano guru and others. Thanks, David I'm ready for some more.

  • Great Stuff!! I'm sending to my high school students to your blues piano site

  • Cool Stuff. I downloaded all the demos as a result of running across this video. Maybe one day when my ship arrives and I actually learn some keyboarding I will get thru all the freebies and need to upgrade to the paid lessons. 5/5 Stars.

  • Hi quinoacat - Thanks for your kind words. I just got back from a long walk this evening (in the snow!) thanking God that I get to connect with people like yourself around the world. What an amazing time to live in. Best wishes on your music studies... David Sprunger

  • amazing. I hope one day i will be able to play that kind of stuff

  • Hi I have a question, i want to learn piano can this be used in R&B and other music, plus use a midi keyboard?

  • could you send me some transcripts that would be awsome

  • Fantastic. You are my main inspiration, David. Thanks so much.

    Ben

  • Hi Ben - Great to hear from you again. That's a really kind comment - I'm glad I get to be a part of what you're doing. Best wishes my friend - DSprunger

  • could you make a jazz course sometime?

  • He Raph0179 - Got my video camera cranking on lots of new lessons, including jazz! i'll post them asap. DSprunger

  • I purchased David's full course and believe it is excellent. The only downside is I use a mac and some of the downloadable extras are only good on a PC. That aside his course leaves you wanting to hear more of his music. He is very good and his music is great.

    Thanks much David.

  • Thanks Hammondparts - It really makes my day to hear something like that (especially from someone who must love the B3!)

Mac versions - we are almost finished w/the Mac versions. In fact I can email you the links to run the Mac versions... Go practice!

  • I have transcribed your blues introduction and learnt it. See my video. This piece is so good!

  • John - That is so very cool. To hear something and transcribe it verbatim - you've got skills! I'll be checking out your other videos. Best wishes - DSprunger

  • Damn man....

    That is so awesome....

    I can't say a word of it....

Hey, can i borrow your hand sometimes...(Just kidding...)

  • Hey man, that session is just soo fantastic.... It´s so freakin groovy!! ;) I am a keyplayer myself and I am a huge blues/gospelfan!! Simply get my stuff just rollin...

  • Gah, I really love that little riff you open with. I think the first ten seconds of the session may be the best of it all...

  • Yeah. It sounds like the 70th blues. Great playing!

  • amazing.....I'm really blessed by your work may God be with you.....

  • amazing....

really differnt from other..may God bless you....

  • Hello there

Your lessons are fantastic.I have been playing a few years by ear and I got the complete bundle last year..The course came with your "Pattern piano" lessons which I thought would be for total beginners but I find myself constructing patterns to use for myself. Its really good.I feel I have improved greatly on the piano since I got the course last year.

There are so many lessons packed into the course and it would cost me a fortune to go one on one with a teacher.

    Thanks.

  • irishmusico - thanks. That always is such a mindblower to me that I get to be part of people's musical lives like yourself. Best wishes - please let me know how it goes as you continue to dig in! David Sprunger

  • Thanks a lot, that was really swingy. Keep up the videos! I think you should put out a video on how to improvise like that, cuz then there's no limit to what you can play. Thanks again.

  • Now if I could only play like that I think I

would be happy with my ability. As it is I'm

just an old novice on keyboard, but somewhat

better on guitar. I might just check out the

site listed. Thanks for posting on YouTube.
