If so, he means that he and Hugh don't always do everything together. They also do things separately. So they can actually part from each other for a bit for different projects.

What a lovely interview! Stephen looked comfortable, as usual. Hugh went through every movement indicating nervousness which you can possibly do, looking like he wanted to be miles away - but that's very usual too. Haha - "... my girlfriend, my one-night-stand." - such a nice face Hugh had while Stephen were saying that.
