  • @18djdream then you can only have 2 audio sources (2 cd decks/turntables or cd deck/ turntable and a laptop.

basically. the guy in the vido had a 3 channel mixer.(meaning he can plug in 3 things to play music from)

you only have a 2 channel mixer (meaning you can only plug 2 things in.)

  • Man you are awesome...Your instructions are very clear and simple. Thanks a lot for taking time to share your knowledge with others..

  • Which piece of shit are you refering to? The one I use for the plug-in demonstration is a piece of shit Behringer. The one I show in most of the video, meaning the 12" silver club mixer is a Piece of shit Denon DN-X1500S

  • Oh, neither of thoes pieces of shit are trying to be Pioneer. Pioneer dosen't even give you a MID EQ on your mic channels,

  • what kind of mixer is that?

  • Once again, you've come through! Thanx man, Cj

  • mr.ZYONONESTER to pulg you well need a mini plug to rca to hook up your i pod the same plug you use for your ipod haed phones

  • How do i play music from my turntables?? ok im using my laptop but thats playing one song only!?! how do i play music from the turntables?

  • Hey guys i want to know, i have 2 turntables but no mixer ! can i use my laptop dj program as my mixer???

  • Probably not. Just go pick up a DJ mixer. The lower end ones are not very expensive

  • @Code13579 Yes use vdj and a souncard. hook em up threw the s.c. and then use the little knobs to turn bass/mid/ etc

  • hey brian that video was really something. I understand dj settings pretty much in the back of a mixer. some mixers has a switch in what channel you want to get it active for the crossfader. I think your mixer is capable of. in some i've seen the crossfade has a switch for 1-2 and 3-4 so the left part can handle ch1 and ch2 then the ch3,ch4 are on the rigth side you have to move the selector though. works great. i'm a fan of yours and jonathan. Giving you 5stars of my comment!!!! practice&enjoy

  • Thankx buddy it helped me out in this new venture I am about to undertake

  • can RCA cables be used to hook up speakers to a CDI 500 MP3

  • yo, brainsredd , i have a question.

in the beginning u say something about having a "cd player and a vcr"

what do u mean by that?

  • can i use a video player as a recorder for my dj deck

  • Hey BrianRedd, this video was excellent man. Thanks alot!

  • Thanks Just got a job as a Dj at a bar never worked with this mixer before, now i know that my laptop and V DJ will work fine :D Thanks agen.

  • Actually the difference is a EQ and slightly more gain.

Both channels have a preamp/"amp" on them as that's what your Gain/trim knob controls.

A record puts out a strange sound and you need a phono preamp which also contains a correction EQ curve to it to get the sound "true" once again.

The CD players still need the preamp gain but they don't require the EQ correction which is why that is bypassed on the "line input".

Just thought I would put that out there.

  • hey how do u use your laptop as your speaker

  • yea

  • Hey man, I promise I really really enjoyed your basic DJ vid, and listen this is the 1st com i ever posted on utb n iv been here 2 years(!) but the experience was so good! • alrite m8 i jst bought 2 vinyl turntables, gemini mixer,an stereo amp but dont no how to connect them all up HELP im choking 2 start djing

  • how do connect my mixer to my laptop plz help

  • I have a video up about that. I'll send you a link

  • Mixing Board woop woop

  • Gracias por el video , I had the all my questions answered.

  • Great video brian you may be the man to ask this, how do I conect my mixer in to my laptop so i can record the audio on to it. by the way 5*'s from me.

  • Usually a mixer will have two outputs. One you have running to your amp or stereo, with the other you just want to run an RCA to 1/8" stereo cable to the line in on your sound card. Then just use audacity or soundforge or whatever your favorite recording software is to capture the line in signal. You can use the same setup for broadcasting over the internet with ShoutCast or some similar service.

  • thanks fella

  • Hey Bret, my favorite KITCHEN DJ! What do you want to recored to? The PC or something else?

  • just record to my lap top so i can burn to cd or listen back to my mixing.

  • Sometimes there is a "record" output on a mixer, other times there is a "monitor" output, sometimes both (sometimes neither). Look to see what you have. You could probibly get yourself a set of RCA (phono) stereo to mini stereo cable, run it into your LINE input of your sound card (if you have one), and use some kind of WAV recorder to record to. Usually, you'll choose an option called "What You Hear" to make this recording happen. Someone else probibly knows more about this than I.

  • thanks brian.

  • hey Brian, I have a band and we want to use headphones to practice and I don't know how to connect the headphones to the mixer, by the way the mixer is a YAMAHA MG32. Thank You

  • I can't see the mixer too well in the picture I found, but it looks like your headphone input is just above that red fader to the far right of the mixer.

You will either need to find some kind of headphone splitter or headphone preamplifier to run multiple headphones for your whole band.

  • ok thank you

  • fantastic tutorial bri

    luvin ure videos

  • thanks, for the video i really appreciate it. one last question. i just decided that i want to use a CD player or stero and my laptop, i would just place the cables for both to channel 1 or 2 right?

  • It dosen't matter which audio source (laptop, CD player, Tape Deck, etc) is on what channel fader. You can put them on whichever channel or input you wish. Just make sure you ONLY use Phono for a record player as I've said in the video. Enjoy!

  • This is why briansredd is djtutor Number 2!! 5***** j

  • great vid, Brian! Good details and cool information.
