If you don't like soy protein powder I don't see why you can't use Whey protein powder. But I don't think soy is really "bad" for you. It gets a bad rap, but the real reason bodybuilders have problems with their boy-parts is the steroids.
I made these bars and granted they are good! the only problem is that all the ingredients cost about 30$ in total with the dried blue berries costing about 5$ alone! I could only make about 12 bars so it comes out to about 3 bucks a bar which I could just buy a pre-made bar at the store for less with the same dietary effect and more protien
Kids are over weight because they don't move just sit on their asses all day. We need to release some fast, aggressive wolves; big cats and other predators near schools and then the children would run and need to stay in shape. Fast predators vs. fat kids that is reality show I would watch. Not only would that need to be fit but smart too. Fat kid = lion's lunch.
To me, all the nutritional value of the power bars are multiplied by 10. Do you want to know why? It's because they taste so delicious I eat at least 10 of them at a time!
This is correct...coconut oil (a saturated fat) is the best oil to consume and its medium chain fatty acids are very resistant to heat. We've been lied to, as usual, by the huge seed-oil industries that mass-produce omega 6 oils like soy, canola, corn, etc. Before the industrialization of food man consumed very little omega 6 oils because they were consumed with the whole grain. Note: most of the soy, canola, and corn is genetically modified by mega corps like Monsanto.
saturated fat is not bad for you.. i hate when people say that! its a marketing scam, do your research!!!! People have been eating saturated fat for ages and only now with our new and popular "low-fat" diets, do we have an obesity epedemic.
Actually the danger doesn't lie in saturated or unsaturated fats, the danger lies in letting the fats BUILD UP. If too much fat builds up, then you get the heart problems. Do you get a myocardial infarction from eating at McDonalds every now and then? No. Do you get one from constantly eating fatty foods and doing nothing to burn that fat? Yes. Diet alone doesn't kill you.
Give it up kindofmagicmike ...only the uninformed will swallow your Monsanto crap.
People: google the "Future of Food" scroll down and watch for free on google video and you'll know exactly where "...magicmike" is coming from.
For those who like to read get William Engdahl's book titled "Seeds of Destruction"
Meanwhile, the rest of yas can go enjoy a bowl of GM rice that has been forced by a gene gun to accept a "NATURAL" gene found in human saliva and breast milk.
"you see 90% of the fruits and vegetables you eat today were rendered editable by genetic modification... "
Right...that means before Monsanto came along 90% of fruits and vegetables were not editable. Monsanto is "rendering" food edible. What a load of crap.
Genetic modification is a good thing, with genetic modification we can make wheat that has more grain per plant, we can make corn that will grow in harsher conditions like africa and india, supplying food to thousands more.
So i take it your saying that we should stop selective growth and genetic engineering, causing hundreds of thousands of people to not have enough food to survive and let them die off? oh, and by the way, why is genetic modification bad? Do you even know what genetic modifcation is? you probably are under the idea that what they mean is injection toxic chemicals and expoing them to radiation, when what it really is is choosing NATURAL genes to produce a better, larger crop.
Please stop spewing your nonsense rants as correct. You have been tricked into thinking that GM'ing crops is a necessary step in this world. You could not be more wrong. If people simply grew local, bio-available crops, food would be more than plentiful enough, and we could virtually eliminate pesticide AND herbicide use. For example, hemp can be grown everywhere, it's a complete food containing perfect ratios of Omega 6,3,9 fatty acid, complete amino acids, and high insoluble fiber content.
you still didnt answer my question, WHATS WRONG WITH GENETIC MODIFICATION? it gives crops a higher amount of food per crop, and has no adverse health affects.
GM plants have no adverse health effects that we know of, yet. the main thing that still makes gm food controversial is that we don't know their long term effects to our body. (im not standing on either side, just happy to enjoy some good food in life)

You see, genetic modification is toying with a force we should leave alone. It's a part of evolution, living organisms are meant to die off if need be, the strong will survive and the weak will die, its the way its meant to be. Excuse me if i don't think we should be toying with the natural order of things, we already have an imbalance, we are speeding up the natural deterioration of this planet. we may induce the next cleansing cycle of the world upon us earlier than anticipated.
its not like were creating new animal species! were selecting the best genes OF THE SAME SPECIES that produces the biggest crop output, and is the most resiliant to the elements (high/low temperatures, storms, insects, etc.) all your doing is running a fear campaign with phrases like "speeding up the natural deterioration" and "the next cleansing cycle of the world" to scare people into hating the government and denying science.
I'm not saying that it will, im just saying we fucked up the earth already, we should just work on fixing all the harm we are doing rather than spoon feeding the week, if we left them alone the strong would learn to survive, we already basically wipe peoples asses for them with all this technology. alot of people wouldn't be able to survive without all the technology, its pathetic, we live in a world with a majority of weak people, and its not even there fault, we don't let them learn to survive
they've been learning to survive for the past 10,000+ years, and they failed, miserably, which is why we now have to help them to keep them from all dying off
(heres part three of my angry rant at you, read the lowest one firs than work your way up) So if you want to buy organic and take a step backwards in time to the middle ages when food was too sparse for anyone but the rich to afford, be my guess, ill be here in the present day, enjoying my plentiful, genetically modified, and delicious food.
Tell me kindofmagicmike, what are the long term health risks associated with GM crops? What's that? You don't know? Let's take Monsantos "round up ready soybeans" for example. If Monsanto is successful in globally GM'ing crops, all of the crops are rendered the same. So let's say some unknown fungus, bacteria, virus, blight ETC. hit's these "round up ready" crops. Oh! They're all the same! THERE GOES THE ENTIRE WORLD CROP OF SOYBEANS.
all of the crops have the same genes, and the genes were GENETICALLY MODIFED to not have any defective genes or mutations, and even if a virus was in the cell it was taken from, pathogens like fungus and bacteria ARE NOT CARRIED THROUGH GENES, plus all genetically modified food is strictly tested by the FDA, and CDC to make sure there are no adverse effects before the food can even get near a grocery store or market.
you seem to have not understood the previous comment. there was no statement saying fungi would be carried through genes. it was saying that if we modified all of the crops and made them all the same, then a virus or fungi that could kill one plant could kill the world
I'm sorry but i don't trust people enough to have them genetically modify my foods, that means i have less control over what i eat. I would rather keep everything in my realm of control. I hope i die before monopolization of genetically modified produce happens, i am happy to grow my own foods with natural seeds.
If it weren't for genetic tinkering, tomatoes and potatoes would still be poisonous (members of the nightshade family, after all). Not all genetic modification is bad, and whether by technology or selective breeding, it's been done to plants for centuries. From it has come a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, expanding our food supply and enhancing the culinary arts. More edibles available in more regions of the world means more people get to eat, hopefully.
Tomatoes and Potatoes were never actually poisonous. They thought potatoes were poisonous because they were eating a poisonous part of the plant (stalks) while the safe part of the plant (root) wasn't poisonous. Tomatoes were thought to be poisonous because they look similar to the Wolfpeach, which was poisonous, it wasn't until the tomato was rumored to be an aphrodisiac that the people figured out it wasn't poisonous.
LOVEEE this show. Alton let me down though. Soy protein powder is as processed as hydrolyzed animal(whey) protein. Which is not a bad thing. It has nothing to do with it being "compatable" Its that the phytoestrogens and its relationship in lowering T levels in men. Soy extracts are given to pregnant women to balance hormone levels. I really dont see whats the big deal with high fructose corn syrup. It has the same calories as table sugar and is made from corn, a vegetable.
ap22987 2 years ago
the issue is with its glycemic index and your insulin response
SirChubalots 2 years ago 5
It is directly linked to obesity.
fructose suppresses the sensation of fullness so one eats more.
More HFCS people eat, the more they eat period. Both tests on people and on lab mice has evidence to support this.
It increases chances of diabetes type II and ulcers, eye and nerve damage resulting from complications,
Also, a significant percentage of HFCS has traces of mercury in it because of the machines used to make it.

according to ab, corn isnt a veggie, it's a cereal/grain

Wrong Mr Fallen Monsanto: 90% of prepared foods contain GM ingredients but most fruits and vegetables are conventionally grown not GM grown.
Labels on conventionally grown produce have four numbers (#5896)
Genetically modified produce: four numbers preceded by #8 (#85896)
Organic produce: four numbers preceded by #9 (#95896)
Monsanto is working on GMing everything then patenting the seeds to monopolize the world food supply and contaminate the biosphere at the same time.
