Not even from John Zorn have I heard playing like that. In fact i've never heard anything like that, it's so beautiful and harsh at the same time. I live for music like this
listening to this incredibly high, all I could imagine were giant camels on pogosticks bouncing towards me from far away, getting closer and closer and closer, then when the saxophone blared, that was their war cry, I scared myself thinking about it too hard :S
I saw him in Madrid this Jan, and I remember something I was asking myself in his live. The gigant saxophone is just a modified sax or is other instrument?
@BlockJuice oh yeah sure is... saw the guy a couple times at Sala Rosa in Montreal and he's guetting crazier and crazier every time, it's litteraly like listenoing to 3 sax at the same time.... but he does it all live, without any effects pedals. The guy is a master of circular breating.
oh man, i hate this. I think i have purged all respect for virtuosity from my being and I am now in a place that actively dislikes this kind of thing. If you think that tune with that rhythm is good, then. just get a drum machine, some synthesisers, and some fx to make it for you
@cropotkin Copying the rhythm with a drum machine is nothing at all like this. By the same logic, we may as well convert all the music we have into 8bit, since the rhythm will be the same.
Fuck me this is amazing. Best new music discovery I've had in a while. I always love sax players who can make the instrument not sound like a sax at all :P :D
I also saw him opening for GY!BE for the first time and it was hypnotic. Probably even more because I wasn't expecting anything of the opening, I was only waiting for GY!BE's set, and here he came with his crazy sound.
I think he's better on his own, it's raw and it sounds great. I don't really like the tracks with lyrics on his album.
Amazing!

This kind of sounds like a constipated elephant being maimed by a lion...but in a good way of course.

If he's slapping on a bass sax, then that's a tongue of steel.

@13FuckedMonkey12 It's called a bass saxophone and it's been around about as long as other types of saxophone

Blew my mind. A very good opening act for GY!BE and a great act even on his own!
