  • Coolest dogs ever!

  • Introduction to sheeps I

  • lmao the i feel bad for the sheep, but border collies are cool

  • wonderful video! One of the most beautiful things to see with human eyes - breeds doing what they are made to do!

  • This is a wonderful video, showing one of the smartest and hardest working breeds.

  • My Border Collie`s are complete head cases..the male attempts to attack a passer by almost everyday,,he`s become aggressive with me too.The female`s has a much better temperament, but,,she behaves like she`s on crack 24.7,She wants to play non stop,,and I mean, from the minute she wakes till she sleeps,,the worst is,she sleeps for only a couple of hours then does the same thing,,run`s up and down crazy,.. I may have the wrong breed.

  • @Honeybowtie they're really working dogs rather than pets, they have too much energy, get bored easily without something to do and they have a strong herding instinct, they'll try and herd anything including the kids

  • @soupdragon151 Lol,,I know that one oh so well,,herding" is their specialty. He like`s to chase cars, and round up everyone in sight.

  • @soupdragon151

Thats the reason why a BC does NOT fit into the most families. It's SO BEAUTIFUL to see a BC working with sheeps!

  • @AlexandraVioletta Border Collie`s are excellent family dogs.

  • @soupdragon151 I have four collies, a collie x lurcher, a toy poodle and two cats. So long as they get out for an hours run a day, they will happily sleep scattered around my living room in front of the fire - just like they're doing right now in fact. I grew up with my oldest, who *tried* to herd me as a pup - after being scolded a couple of times, she understood. The times you'll see Collies with problems is when they don't get enough exercise - and who's faults that, the dogs or the owners?

  • @NextMrsBradPitt My dog`s problems arose after being attacked by a staff bull. You`re commenting about something you have no clue of.Border Collie`s are NOT difficult to train" either.

  • @Honeybowtie They *need* to get enough exercise a day. A 20 min walk on the lead down the street won't cut it. I'm talking about a full hour of constant running or ball fetching. I've had several foster dogs with the same issues and the main reason is because they don't get enough exercise. As you saw on the video, collie's will keep going, and going and going. Collie's aren't easy dogs. Trust me it is possible, I have four and they're *all* asleep scattered around my feet :)

  • @NextMrsBradPitt I`ve been seeing an expert on Border Collies..His information`s genius..My dog has aggression issues. He lacks no exercise I own two Borders". Everyone assumes Border Collie`srequire 24 hr a day attention.I`ve learned it`s not the case. Murphy`s coming along brilliantly in his rehabilitation plan. All the same, thanks for sharing your words.

  • Someday we'll get to the point where Border Collies will teach humans to herd sheep.

  • Excelente video!

  • @darthtalon84 no but they wouldnt need to where they originate from - GBritain

  • These dogs really do work, wow

  • 14 people can't train their dog

  • love the collie stare, when we play football it will slink up to the ball and nothing can avert here gaze haha

  • the dog is alex jones ;)

  • 1:53 lol its funny how the sheep trusted the farmer around her babies but not the dog haha so cute and i love the dog. Smartest dog in the world right?

  • THEIR NATURAL INSTINCT!!!!!!!!!

  • i love useful dogs! LOVE! SUPER CUTE TOO

  • *dogs

  • @Joesoap81 ok some dog can do that really so LAY OFF!!!

  • love these dogs my border girl is 3 and is gorgeous, she even brings me my slippers when i get in, can,t believe how quick they learn and how loyal and loving they are if i had a farm i would take ten of them.

  • Nice music!

  • I love all animals!

    I love dogs!

  • colies are one of the most intelligent dogs around, and that's why they are not so easy to "teach"...

  • @QuimChaos lol they're the easiest learners of all dogs, the only problem is they also learn very fast "wrong" things and then it's difficult to get this behaviour to stop

  • why not get two or three dogs? i'd make this that much easier yes?

  • I want a Border Collie

  • Every reference I looked into, tells me that border collies are not good as a pet. They are just way way too smart to sit around do nothing but 'come sit stay'... When I watch sheep herding videos like this... I can totally understand. These dogs are purposely bred to work... They need to run all over the place while thinking and planning... amazing animals.

  • Fantastic video. This music + BCs = pure joy to watch and listen :)

  • Lol my friends BC was a failed herder, so she adopted it from a farm and now it doesn't stop 'Zig-Zagging' on a walk. =P

  • poor sheeps!!

  • A friend told me he'd paid £600 for a white, woolly dog. I said it looked a bit sheep.

  • This dog has definetily " The Eye " !

  • Absolutely love this breed. Due to my allergies I have to compromise and go for a border terrier instead though. They're pretty fantastic companions, as well.

  • I wonder why people want to have kids if they can have border collies

  • i love this dog!

  • @rockbreath444 ever heard of a frisbee? xD

  • I have a super nice border collie to !

  • i'm so glad some ppl still use dogs for real work and not for show. it would be a real shame to loose all the traits BCs have because someone forgot about them when breeding for stupid looks.

  • I'm a sheep hurr durr

  • Loved this video, thank you. :)

  • Rchie5678. yes, they can herd sheep all by them selves.

    they are very smart.

  • yes some dogs will work all on thier own without their human .

  • @ACHNACONE Most will if you let them. All of my border collies will go to stock on their own if they doesn't think I'm watching. Very not allowed though. "Working" stock without a person is "harassing" stock.

  • You're lucky there is no Welsh people around.

  • i have a question. Do sheep dogs herd sheep only under mans supervision? i want to depict a scene in a cartoon where sheep live on a small island and a dog is herding them so they dont escape into the town or somewhere, but the dog must be alone just keeping an eye walking around the herd on his own. is that possible? I know there are guardian dogs that guard sheep from predators, but the island cant have any predators, so i need some advice. thank you

  • Thats a good dog!

  • can you still train a 10 month old dog? i'm trying too but i don't know.

    plaese reply

  • @MrOnePlusOneIs3 That old crap "you can't teach and old dog new tricks" Is just a load of BS... old dogs learn just as well, if not better than puppies. It's best to START young, but there is NEVER a point in a dogs life that they won't learn

  • @MrOnePlusOneIs3 Of course your dog can still learn. I have a Border Collie that I rescued at the age of 5 and he is 10 now and the best cattle and sheep dog we have at my family farm. A dog is never to old to learn, you just have to stick with it. Good Luck!

  • @MrOnePlusOneIs3 Yes. If it is a bordercollie, it will be easier to train, since they are very smart. But it is still easy to train puppies. They are usually eager to learn. If you are having trouble, rent some ceaser millan videos, and you should be alright.

  • @msLuvowlcity thanks!

  • @MrOnePlusOneIs3 Hell yeah, 10 months is still fucking young, you can even do it at 3 years

  • Comment removed

  • @MrOnePlusOneIs3

Many borders don't start training until they are 2! The older they are the easier they are to train. You want your dog to have excellent obedience before you train them with sheep and that comes with time and older age. If your doggie loves sheep then go for it. Many borders prefer to chase vs herding so you could try frisbee or tennis balls if sheep aren't as much fun. All borders herd but some like to chase more (prey drive). My border is a chaser and loves the frisbee :).

  • @MrOnePlusOneIs3

ogmggggigingignign yess@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@2 i have one and she is 3 years old now \we are still teaching her tricks and training her theres never a deadline with her!

  • @MrOnePlusOneIs3 Of course! Just always be patient!!

  • a strong bond is formed between a man and his sheepdog. Definately true. You won't find a more loyal, friendly eager to please you breed of dog.

It was only two days ago I have my five year and two year old child playing with my collie. The children were at one end of the stick with my collie at the other end playing tug of war so gently

  • If you let a springer loose in that field, would he come back?

  • If I only had the chance I would take my collie dog to the beach cliffs of Scotland to let her herd some sheep. That would be the trip of a lifetime for the both of us =).

  • perfeitos!amei

  • i lov my boarders , great video!

  • excellent video

  • THEY'RE CUTE!<3

  • Oops! That's Great Job! Sorry....

  • Thank you for the video. I used it as a part of our home school lesson on working animals on a farm. Thank you and greet job with the vid!

  • amazing how they r perfectly keep the sheep together without showing them or training them (perfect for a 5 months old pup)

  • awww i wish i got my border collie wen he was smaller i got him when he was like 6 months old so he was all big :// but i still love my dog his name is lobo=wolf :D hes soo fluffay :3

  • hey

does anyone know if there is a way for a border collie to exersices its herding instincts without going to a farm every day cause i want to exerscie it in my dog but i dont know how

    plz reply THANKS

  • @rockbreath444 get some cats.

  • @mlemour i have a cat but all he does is sleep and hiss at dogs so dogs avoid him

  • @rockbreath444

If you have a safely enclosed yard or garden, or even a large open space in your home, you can throw a bunch of toys out (balls work best as they roll around) and let your dog herd the toys around. My BC loves herding his toys. I kick the balls so that they roll along the floor away from him and he has to keep fetching them back to the "herd". He likes to roll them along with his paws and nose while carrying another in his mouth. He can bring back 3 at a time, it's fun to watch.

  • I love to watch the dog working with the farmer or handler. It is beautiful.

  • I have a border collie, smartest dog I've ever had and probably will never buy a different breed of dog.

  • Try Asian women **busizz4me.info**

  • i just got one saturday yeah!!!!

  • Fantastic!

  • Your video is very well done and thank you for sharing this! I am considering a border collie to help with farmwork-sheep, goats and possibly cattle... Thank you~Rose

  • i have a border collie and she is gorgeous, the only drawback is we live in a city and i just feel bad that she hasn,t got loads of countryside to run about in, but she has got the park . if i had a farm i would probably buy about ten of them, they are the best dogs ,love them.

  • how can i train that she brings the newspapers

  • It is astonishing to note the transformation in a working sheep dog. From 0:44 where the young dog is absolutely wild, out of control, and all over the place, to 1:43 where it has learnt both self-control, as well as the ability to understand, and do exactly as his master wants him to do with the sheep.

We had a cross Welsh collie many years ago - they make great pets with children too.

  • Border collies absolutely love this line of work. Most of them would run all day if they could.

  • Great video..I am lucky enough to own two (non working) BC's...and they are quite demanding..but the rewards they give you in return are unbeatable from any other breed (IMO)

  • I like Bordercollies! Greets Inge-Agnes

  • i have a border collie @ home!!!

he is soo cute and my best buddie

  • I was wondering if border collies have a lot of dander? My younger brother has allergies and I really want to get a border collie but am not sure whether if it's a good idea if they shed a lot or have lots of dander

  • i live on a farm in norway, and we have 4 border collies :D they are 1, 4, 9 and 14 years old, they love herding sheeps :P one time, one of them herded 80 of our sheeps out if their pasture, and right in to the lawn outside our house. then, she herded them back again, just to proove what she could do :P

  • I agree about the herding instincts. I have a 6 yr old Golden Retriever male and a 10 month old Border Collie female. I believe she thinks he is a sheep as she just stalks him all day. When he runs , ...she runs after him and grabs the fleshy part of his face or ears. He yelps, but never bites her.

  • so how often does shedding hair become a problem for these dogs?

  • Do they make good house dogs as well?

  • @BryanDougall1 They turn anything into a toy, I could make a list longer then youtube will allow. soccerball racketball soda bottle golf ball cat toys clothes furniture rope cables ornaments cleaning supplies and much much more
  • sheep are so FLUFFY!

  • dont you just love their crouch mode!

  • does anybody know which Music is this?

  • i will never forget the first time i let my B/C herd our cattle with us. I thought i would never catch her!

  • que cachorrinhos lindos

  • My dog is a border collie and she doesent have any sheep so she herds me

  • Thanks for sharing!:)

  • i wonder if that dog is friends with the sheep

  • a border collie will litterally work itself to death

  • Very awesome video! Helped alot while researching on working sheepdogs and how they act.. Thank you ^_^

  • i have about 5 female goats and 5 babbys would a borer collie be good for rounding them up

  • Hello, I tip my hat to Border Collies. I have a one, and her name is Macy. She is 4 years old (In Dog years) Well one day my family, my dog, and I went to the lake one time last summer. I took my eye off of my 7 year old brother for 30 sec. My familly and I heard a loud scream. It was my little brother who started to drown. I dashed to save him, and in a blink of an eye. My dog (Macy) bolted into the water, and paddle to save him. She let him grab her so he could float, untill I could get him =)

  • @GameOver654 WOW! How cool is Macy! :) Glad your brother was ok!

  • @GameOver654

Yeah right, did the dog then resuscitate ur brother and drive the ambulance to the hospital?gimme a break.

  • @joesoap81 Look I don't give a shit if you believe me or not because your just like those fat ass no lifes that sit behind a computer screen hopeing to start an argument with someone. So Drop your balls. (BLOCKED

  • i love how bordercollies walk at 2:00 , soooo stealth. smartest dogs too

  • very very beautiful.thank you

  • hard working...

  • Hi, we are trying to choose a border collie pup to keep as a pet and train to a basic level and I would appreciate some advice on what coat type etc. to go for and your general thoughts on this. Thanks.

  • Got to see a demonstration with border collies and sheep not too long ago. A very impressive sight, I must say.

  • why do they herd and not eat?

  • Beautiful dog! I have a dog that is half Australian shepherd, and she is the most intelligent, focused dog I've ever met. She likes to herd our other dog. Looks so much like the dog in this video, too!

  • bellissimo

  • Great video!!!!

  • What a great video. Thanks!

  • border collie's are very nice.

  • Aww i always wanted a border! it was not allowed but we have the other collie :) (and 2 big dogs is a bit much. )

  • lindo seus carneiros

  • Hi,

I was wondering if it's in the Collie's nature to herd or if you need to train them. I'm also wondering if Collies make good watchdogs.

    Reply, please. Thank you!

  • collies are usually born with a herding instinct.. ( the working bred ones any way)

and they do make good wathc dogs.,

  • @ACHNACONE Lol, they make horrible watchdogs, at least untrained ones. I walked into my cousin's house after not seeing him for a year and their Bordie collie walked up to me and just started licking my face without ever seeing me before and no one was home.

  • @sailingonhope Herding in dogs for sheep was honed from hunting tactics from wolves. I am pretty sure there is some vid out there showing wolves hunting.

  • @sailingonhope I have 2 border collies and the more active one herds with plenty of things.

  • @sailingonhope I got a border collie yesterday and by the way it acts, I can say its in the Collies' nature. Probably bred in by humans.

  • @sailingonhope yes it is an instinct to herd and if the instinct is not there, they would struggle to move sheep! They do make good watch dogs aswell but they require lots of training and are not great for first time dog owners with no dog experience. Hope this helps.

  • @sailingonhope my pup was 4 months old and herding the cats around the house

    its pure instinct in some

  • @sailingonhope Having had border collies most of my life, but never living on a farm, I can safely say that not only are they born with a herding instinct, but if there's no nearby sheep, they'll take the next best target... generally you :)

  • @Atropinex So true. My aunt's dog managed to herd 72 guests into the corner of the yard at a garden party. Not a single one of them knew why they were there xD

  • @sailingonhope

they are born with the instinct but still need very extensive training. If you like to read, try "Nop's Trials" - it's great!

  • @sailingonhope It is in their nature to herd but they need to be trained to do it more efficiently. Take it from someone who has a Border Collie they make excellent watch dogs. They are very intelligent.

  • The definition of a border collie is a dog that has genetics for herding. Yes, it is in their soul! There are some "purebred" registries that breed for conformation (how they look), and they are ruining an intelligent, hardworking herding dog. There IS no true color, coat length, size, or shape standard... what is the standard is their ability to herd. That is what they are bred for, and that is what is in their genes. My first BC started herding at six weeks.

  • @sailingonhope I didnt teach my border collie a thing and she will herd everything from the cat to pheasants she finds on the farm.

  • What fantastic dogs

  • I had a border collie kelpie cross when I was young. Great sheepdog.

  • I love Boarder Collies .. My Boarder Collie is 8 weeks old .. he's so sweet .. :)

  • Nice vid! ^^

    I love border collie's! ;)

They're so cute and beautiful! :3

  • I miss my dog soooo much...but this video helped me remember him, and our many days out in the sunny Sierras learning to stop busting up the flock of sheep like a bunch of billiard balls! Thank you for bringing my Muttel back to me for a few minutes.

  • WOOOLLLFF

  • lol at sheep headbutt (1:29)

  • fantastic video i love collies , very protective mother sheep too!

  • I want a border collie!

  • I miss my border :(

  • im getting a border collie to herd cows i cant wait

  • Nice dog, its cute and smart.. Tho australain kelpies still beat this dog :P check it out on my vid. P.S i love border collies don't get me wrong

  • Sure would like to meet her...cute n smart.

  • i rescue border collies

  • I felt bad for the mama sheep...

  • I conquer, chateaufleur3.

But, I suppose that's how they have to check the gender of the baby sheep.

  • beautiful portrait of this nice breed!!!

  • i want a border collie!

  • Got two collies myself.

The one in the video is a really nice looking dog.

Mine run about the same but nowhere near as obedient.

One is pretty good but the other is very head strong.

  • i had a border collie from a working family, i took him to the dog park for the first time when he was about 6months old, and he herded all the other dogs into a circle... it was probably the best thing i've ever seen LOL

  • nice video :D

is that music a bach piece¿

  • El comentario de abajo dice que 3 border collies se encargaban de "acorralar" a doce o mas niños en una reunion familiar. A punta de mordiscos los tenían quietitos

  • I <3 BORDER COLLIES

  • I once saw a vid of a family reunion scene where the family had three Border Collies that were herding a group of a dozen or so small children around.

  • @KC0TCH i want to see that video of the border collies herding the kids

  • lol my uncle got 2 new sheepdogs. A middle aged one and a puppy. They are so sweet and gentle but they are definitely bred to work.

Takes ages to get a trained one used to a new master. its best to train them yourself.

  • Great video. I have 2 border collies mother and son. They are my best friends. I became Disabled And they both somehow taught themselves to be service dogs for me. I can now take one with me at all times in case I need help. They are amazing dogs. Although I hate to call them that. They are so much more then a dog. Their loving family members. If their not welcome someplace, I'm not welcome.

  • This is an awsome vid. beautifull dog I love border collies. Mine herds my ferretes ;D lol. AWSOME.

  • Wonderful video... informative, interesting & I love the music. I want a farm just so I can have a Border Collie & give it a job.

  • I am really impressed with this video. This year I've got a puppy of miniature Australian Shepherd.

Now He is 11 months old, and I regret that my dog will never herd sheeps for a simple reason: It's hard to find any in New York City. I can see his natural herding insticts that could not be utilized. People very often mix him up with Border Collie.

  • My boarder collie isn't trained herder, yet she has a natural talent.

However, if she gets too exited, she will switch over to hunting instinct when not under supervision.

She then proceeds to charge into the middle of the flock, scattering the sheep and then screw around with the weakest one. She doesn't harm it, but she "traps" it with the "face to face" paradox. The sheep won't turn around and she won't charge further.

Kind of bothersome, but at least she doesn't ignore withdrawal command.

  • i think i need to find a sheep herder!! i want this kind of life!! it is so interesting to see how others live. im stuck in the city and just want to breath some of that country air!!

  • its a good life but sometimes we would like to be able to go somewhere warm sunny and with good restaraunts! :-)

  • @tippersmami usually, its best for those who grew up in the country.

  • @tippersmami this video arouses the same mood of mine as yours.

  • I just got my border collie pup Bijou and hes 3 months old....lol...Im learning why he does what he does now....thank you!

  • i just gota border collie last month and his name's Ruban. he's only 4 months and i want to train him... does anyone know how to train puppies? i need helpD: lol. good vid btw :]
