My ignore background faces button vanished, It was there when I started but when I got to the part of selecting the faces and needed it it was not there. I switched into object mode and back to edit mode and still could not find that damn button.
I'm know I'm being picky but the "blue" line you speak of when making the loop cut is actually magenta. Although you may be colorblind which is pretty common.
I have a couple of questions, it would be nice if someone can answer them.
-How do you measure a distance in blender? example: you want to make a wall that is six meters high, and it needs to be exact to make it fit in a scene. How do i get it right without a background image?
- How do you get your crosshairs to the absolute center? (where it starts), and how do you move it to a coordinate (X,Y,Z). I need this for positioning.
@wautersandreas Wow, you have actually given me a FANTASTIC idea for the new tutorial. Thanks! I am going to restart Blending with a Noob in the next day or so. So subscribe to my channel and, better yet, follow my blog. I'll have the answers to your question VERY soon.
@firechildc hey, glad my question give you new ideas :) I already subbed, because your tutorials are really clear. Everything is so well explained, no foreknowledge required :D
I got the most recent blender i think (2.49b)
i look foreward to watching your next tutorial. I actually still have to watch and do part 3, but i am in the middle of my exams.
@wautersandreas What version of Blender are you using? To center your crosshair on the object, I believe you highlight the object and press CTRL ALT SHFT C
@wautersandreas if you press n, there should be a GUI window/panel that shows up in your blender interface, that lets you position your crosshair at a precise position
you can also set your unit system to metric there, so when you extrude 6 units, you are extruding 6m
Thanks for this practical tutorial, was able to get it. Though had a slight delay on creating edges as I was selecting the wrong edges but eventually figured that out.
I'll have that image up by tomorrow at the very latest. Thanks for reminding me! Check back at my blog page (link in the side bar) Thanks for watching!
@firechildc I still haven't been able to find the background image, even on your website. :( I'm very interested in doing this tutorial as I need to make several houses in blender but as yet don't actually know how lol
Sorry but is it Chad Castleberry or Allen
