  • How can anyone not love this? The blues is the root of all American music!

  • I'd like to put those "only four notes " as he puts

  • 6 dislikes...6 effin' major idiots

  • Priceless!

  • The blues son!

  • Father and Son!

  • BB is the hit, no doubt about it. Looks like he's playing pretty good to me. The story here, as much as i love Riley B King, is Mr. T Bone Walker, whom we al owe so much! He was doing all those tricks that Hendrix did, 40 years before.. Hendrix credited T Bone with his moves, playing with his teeth, behind the back, etc.. Mr. T Bone Walker did more for blues than he will ever get credit for. A guitar whiz, with a voice that cuts like a knife... Thank you T Bone and BB! Love 4 ever!

  • B.B King playing with his Idle T - Bone gotta love, two masters of the blues. All hail The Three Kings Of The Blues, Albert, B.B. & Freddie!!

  • Seems alot ofpeople reckon BB was just some 4 note wonder, he's one of the greatest musicianstohave ever lived, in my opinion. Magic.

  • damn bb was on today playing runs like wes montgomery i never heard him like this

  • woow.. didnt know bb could do jazz runs!!

  • cool

  • what makes music special is soul and feel, in every genre soul and feel can be achieved. And music that doesn't come from the heart is pure about money and shit. that's why I can assure you lady gaga, justin bieber, etc. will come and go my friends. music with soul and story is timeless they are classics, in the end al the previously named shall vanish in the earth and all we shall know is the music we remember. the music that made us believe in things and gave us hope. blues unites people

  • ♫ Sweet music what awesome talents!! ♫

  • It looks to be the Monterey fair grounds!

  • ( ( NEW ) ) Father Daughter dance! VERY Sentimental, it will MAKE YOU CRY!!!!! Check it out!!!

    VVVVVV

  • Truth be known, it is in fact two masters, so forget the liner notes. Of course T-bone paved the road, but then again so did BB, just later

  • @avalanche344 - Amen to that. BB King and Lucille introduced me to the blues and made me want to explore this amazing sound. They just kept paving the road for T-Bone

  • Monterey Jazz Festival 9-16-67 BB's B-Day! ;)

  • Class all the way.

  • bbking had a really jazzy sound in this, he is so far from his usual playing...beautiful!

  • oh man bb king has changed since then o maaaan.

  • What year in this concert?

  • back in the day when bb king would stand to play

  • @RIPHendrix He's over 80 now, what do you expect?

  • Holy moley! Wow. I saw stuff like this when I was twenty and was too stupid to know what I was looking at. Now I'm sixty and I'm just starting to get it. Slow learner.

  • สองจอมมารบลูส์ ประมือกัน

  • he mentioned Vietnam so I'm guessing mid to late 60's

  • bb's played a LOT of guitars in his 70 year career

  • holy crap, BB King is playing a RED 335!

  • @mikexlong actually im pretty sure thats a 345, kinda hard to see but you can always tell b/c 345 have the 6 position varitone switch as 335 dont. Same guitar freddie king uses and countless others

  • @chalftits lol i actually meant to say 355, coz i think he preferred the ultra deluxe package b4 gibson started making him the custom lucilles.

  • BB should be called Slim there. Late 50's maybe?

  • what year? and Where in the hell did you find this?????

  • what year?

  • THANK YOU KEEP IT ALIVE

  • MInd Blowing , probably the most important piece of blues of ever caught on film . T

  • @simonsmithmusic I KNOW! It's such a trip! One, literally, finds all these gems on You Tube and they just keep going on forever! I have so many playlists to download & burn or copy. But they HAVE to be on disc. It never stops! My hard drive is GONE on my Vista from music and movies. I have to use an external. It's such a trip! and I love it!!

  • i remember the first time i watched this, it was the first time i had really listened to blues music... i had goosebumps all evening... :L

Just incredible; i love blues music :)

  • i love b.b. king. so glad i got to see him at the hard rock in biloxi mississippi.

  • sweeeeeet!!! thx pooiseng

  • T-Bone Walker was and always has been BB Kings idol,,if you get the chance,,watch the dvd collection of The History of Rock N Roll and BB admits he was very sumwhat intimidated by T-Bone,,especially when T-Bone does the splits with the guitar behind his head and still doesnt miss a lick on the strings....CLASSIC VINTAGE FOOTAGE HERE,,,TYVM...R.I.P T-BONE...LONG LIVE THE KING!

  • Thanks for this gem - bb nervous?!!

  • thank you gods of Music for bringing these two excellent gentlemen together and preserving it for my eyes to see and my ears to hear I thank you from the bottom of my heart

  • thank you gods of Music for bringing these two excelent gentlemen together and preserving it for my eyes to see and my ears to hear I thank you from the bottom of my heart

  • Blues guitar royalty at the Monterey Pop Festival September 1967

  • The finest drug for a blues addict... Man...

  • Inconceivable how incredible it is two see two giants with such huge fingerprints on the blues and guitars playing together. God Bless the guy who shared this with us!!!

  • this is just beautiful

  • Wow.

  • Atleast 4 people don't know nuthin bout da blues.

    Legendary Post !!! Bravo !!!

  • You hear a lot of shit from young folks about BB King couldn't do more than his handful of signature lick. Sure, those sticking to those licks in the later years paid his rent, but dig deep into BB, especially the early years and you find on baddass guitar player not be trifled with.

  • BB plays some smoking licks while T-Bone is walking out.

  • I reckon for BB King that this would have been like a young kid today playing alongside Stevie Ray onstage (if he was still alive God bless him) but times 100.

  • Some seriously deep blues being played and sung here. Great use of a few notes and many notes in the same set. Jaw dropping vocals by T-Bone and BB KIng...

  • Wow....this is so cool. If you listen to BB's early playing in the 50s, you knew his main influence was T-Bone. Also, if it wasn't for T-Bone, Chuck Berry would have been lost. Thanks for posting!

  • @92Redstrat And we would have no rock and roll.

  • Amazing

  • fuck people that talk shit about bb he was soooo fucking good!! both of them i love music ahhhhahahahahhahahahhhhahhahhaha

  • @ragingstorm33 riley b king aka BB, wasn't good, he still IS good........still kickin', kid....in his 80's

  • Monterrey Pop Festival - September 16, 1967 Wow..I get a chance to see two of the greatest of all time anytime I want. Ain't life fuckin' cool?

  • wow, how lucky we all are

  • Comment removed

  • a treasure.

  • Well Rock and Roll is the Blues

  • Rock would be bland without the blues!

  • Two of the greats on the same stage! Thank heavens for YouTube! Thanks for posting this.

  • I have no words for this! Thanks for posting this jewel!

  • Whoa, they are playing like hell in this video, its so good!

  • Then I get c a jewel lik this!! Youtube is 1 of thse Awesum, mind bending ideas I wshed I had helpd invent. 2 stories A friend's uncl offrd "me" a 'show chormd blk '67 GTO for $4k in '82. A '71 conv hemi cuda was offrd 2 me aft 67,nope. I tried to get a 10k loan for Google's IPO-no luk. I know p10tial!

  • "Youtube fantastic." What an understatement! Don't be shy. I have seen things whispered and rumored about. I have seen things/info hidden from the public, but was meant to be seen by all. I have seen creatures, men, women, machines, places, etc,; I would have never been able to see. I have seen events/things only seen in pictures or talked about. I have seen events/things I missed because I was: too young, too old, could'nt be in 2 places @ the same time, too far away from. etc. continued...

  • Blues guitar royalty!

Blah, blah, blah mastercard....but THIS is priceless. Who knew this event ever even took place?

What would you say? 90% (or close) of the vocabulary for electric rock and blues guitar was written and invented by the two guys on stage with guitars here.

  • Fantastic!

  • I'm in blues heaven right now...

  • Thats a huge guitar

  • B.B. at his best, for sure!

  • Wahhh! Got the goosebumps as I'm writing this!

  • BB I have always loved. I always loved T-Bone but he sounds better live than he does on studio recordings. T-Bone must have always practiced to stay so good.

  • i NEED to see more of this........

  • fuck

  • Fuck people make stupid comments on you tube... as is beautifully fucking illistraded by the stupid comments below... you shit heads miss the point... this is the essence of life... this is the human condition... dig the shit out of your brains, motherfuckers and dig this beautiful shit being laid out for y'all. Stop thinking and start feeling.... your soul will thank you for it. RIP T-Bone... live forever BB...

  • GD this is inspiring!

  • this is in monterey

  • Blues conversation...

  • oh sh*t...and i was going to learn guitar today :) Maybe i should stick with piano.

  • oh shit...and i was going to learn guitar today :)

  • just goes to show the diversity of how one can solo on the guitar.

  • Too bad T-bone stepped on BB :41-1:41

  • is bb´s birthdays??

  • Exceptional history is shown! wonderful, thanks for posting

  • Man, BB King hasn't sounded so good. It's amazing how playing with his idol does for his payin. I love it man, soul. Yeah man, that's how it's done people.

  • Lloyd Glenn was the greatest unsung blues piano player of all time.

  • THANK YOU for sharing this historic performance! T-Bone and B B on the same stage... must of been truly amazing to witness live. The talent and energy these 2 musicians had back in the 60's is remarkable!

  • Fantastic video. Any idea what year its from?

  • T bone was his idol.

  • Whew!

  • Excellent!!!

    Grandma mary

  • yess

  • wow what a gutiar t bone had. bb is still great man alive he can play

  • This footage is truly priceless! Thanks for posting it!! Two all-time greats. I saw BB in concert earlier this year and he is older now than T-Bone is here which is strange. You did a service to Youtube uploading this video.

  • t bone can sing

  • brilliant

And he can still reach those high notes even in his 80´s

B B King is truly one of a kind

  • this is incredible. mr king also does some funny shit with his introductions, mr t bone at the piano, on organ, wow. on guitar.

  • now this is shredding!!!, wow

  • He still had Robert Johnson I think, though he wasn't a rocker. Still, great delta bluesman, one of if not the best.

  • Those kinds of guitars seem like monsters - so big, and the strap bolt is on the headstock. seems ungainly, but oddly cool

  • By 'sweet', I mean that his timbre was higher and voice more versatile. Today, it's somewhat graveley.

    It's all good.

  • I understand what your saying.

  • That's right. The playing behind the head, w/his teeth pre-date Henrdix. Who was an obvious MASTER on guitar.

  • BB had a 'sweet' voice back then. T-Bone & BB play off of each other really well.

  • Back then?? hes still got a "sweet" voice at 84 - voice not as strong, but you get the idea. it's a great vid tho isn't it??

  • even if this video didnt have any sound, you could tell it was T-Bone just by the way he holds his guitar.

  • gotta love that!

  • Is that a Bassman or dual showman amp in the back?? Or what

  • Awesome historical footage ! I share the same date of birth as BB ...

  • a friend asked "why does t bone hold the guitar this way?" and he got the answer: 'BECAUSE HE IS T BONE WALKER, HE CAN DO WATEVER HE WANTS!!!!!!!'

  • September 16th...

  • 1,000,000 STARS rating here!

  • n "all over again".. n many MANY other great blues songs.. its a generic intro.. :)

  • Not just the intro, the feel of the whole song- the tempo, the swing, the time signature Even the way the bends are played is very similar. The phrasing in the guitar solo passages is also similar. I think he must have been influenced by it. Maybe not though, maybe it's just an excellent example of the typical form at the time. Either way, it's clear hendrix loved this stuff.

  • u r right 100% Muzikman127 :)

  • Very true, also Buddy Guy's showmanship and energy certainly formed a blue print for the way Hendrix was onstage....watching some clips of a young Buddy Guy is almost like watching Hendrix in the way he plays and also his physical prowess.

  • Wow, speechless.

  • they both come up with all kinds of beautiful licks and stuff.

  • Ah, T-bone, I love his voice as well!

  • O-M-F-G im speechless... i watched T-Bone the first time today... im toasted... this guy is... i dont find words. Seems to me this guy is as close on Jimi Hendrix as no one else

  • If you think Hendrix resembles T-Bone Walker, there's a very good reason for that. T-Bone Walker was one of Hendrix's main inspiration, the trick Hendrix did, playing the guitar behind his back, was first done by T-Bone Walker. After a concert Hendrix saw, he was amazed by it and adapted it in his own musical performances later in life. However, I'm not saying T-Bone Walker was better than Hendrix, but merely that he was one of Hendrix's inspirations in music.

  • woooooww, bb un his birthday playing with his musical father, thanks, thanksssssssssss for upload this, thankss

  • Yes that's right bobgure Charlie Christian lick's. I find it kind of funny that BB would do that ! T bone is closer to Charlie than BB, You know Charlie, T Bone then BB kind of in that order, just go's to show good lick's are good lick's.

  • my bad. just watched it again. T-bone played his own lead. thanx man. add me? This is AWESOME!

  • t-bone with b.b.s lead...... mostbeutiful thing i"ve ever heard. thanx pooiseng thats blues if ive ever heard it. trademark guitars and all.

  • thats the blues!

  • This is the Monterey fairgrounds.

  • youtube is a fantastic thing for sure.

  • BB must have thought he died and went to heaven!

Both the most influential figures in electric blues guitar.

  • I never listened to T-Bone before this. He and B.B. are very similar in style.

  • @Kluender07 T-bone was one of the smoothest ever!

  • Two Blues Gods on one stage

    Amazing

  • These guys don't lie and don't cheat. They play without any effects to hide behind. Guitars plugged straight to the amps and let the good times roll !

  • I don't believe that using effects is ALWAYS hiding, it simply adds colour to the music, without which much rock would be a lot blander, but I know what you mean.

  • @yes0genesis

The Edge exploits effects, tasteful guitarists can make them sound great, some different examples would be Jimi or Kevin Shields.

  • that is one of the greatest shows i ever seen

  • I love how music brings ppl. together.

  • Ya guitar slim was way back ,think he died in about 54 or55.Just burnout on his feet.Livin life so fast.Great player, wow.showman ship. These two cats is steep. Thankyou u-tube. all these great things that might never see the light of day except in private collectons. Luv this shit.

  • Guitar Slim died in 1959 at age 33 of complications due to alcoholism.

  • After watching this I finally realized how beautiful life can really be!!!

  • i love how t bone sings - love his phrasing!

  • Theres nobody better than BB & T-Bone these guys could smoke and make them guitars talk to ya, You treat me mean baby but I'm going to keep on lovin you baby. Yes thats the blues right there......

  • I wonder why in almost every guitar blues video available on Youtube, there has to be a fucking discussion about who's better than who or who influenced who.. everybody is a frickin' expert all of a sudden !! and they start with the "fuck you" , "i hate your family" etc... dude... seriously, just enjoy the music...

  • no , is not better is only different ... and listen the swing fucking idiot

  • You have absolutely made my day; this is fabulous! Thank you.

  • I dont think it can get any better. Two of the best, if not the best ever to play blues guitar giving a performance for the ages. Listen and learn.

  • The date for this is 16-September-1967; venue is the Monterey Jazz Festival in California.

  • Without BB king and T-Bone Walker there would have been no Jimi Hendrix.

  • yeah but his tricks and stuff all came from t bone walker

    er

  • Not true at all. Of course and yes, he was influenced by T-Bone like many others, but he had his other influences as well what Jimi did had nothing to do or very little with T-Bone. You can maybe see some sign of the influence. but directly nothing happened. Jimi was his own man who was way ahead of his time. There is a reason why Jimi is regarded as being the most creative and inovative guitar player of all times.

  • Guitar Slim was doing Hendrix way before Hendrix man. Probably ten years before.

  • "Don't know nothing???" Really? Nice double negative there pal. I was just saying that Jimi got some of his moves from Guitar Slim, an earlier musician. That's a fact not an opinion so do your homework before you tell me to shut the fuck up again asshole. You obviously "don't know nothing" about English.

  • you sir are a know it all idiot, i see your comments all over, all thumbs down motherfucker, just shut up retard, your probablly some prepubescent child anyway, go comment on a john mayer video

  • before Hendrix played any rock, he was playing blues, quite well I might add, but all blues comes from the heart, so even though the chords/notes and riffs are the same, they are all unique, listen carefully and you will hear

  • if 2:02 onwards isn't the inspiration to red house, I don't know what is. Not just the fact it's a 12 bar blues, but the tempo, the 6/8 feel and even the lick at the start.

  • 1:54 even

  • haha- "while TBone plays the blues on the piano, I mean the organ, wow, on the guitar." Even the best make mistakes.

  • insted of needing to hear it how bout hear them both on that other guys video lol ..bb king and t bone ..

  • Sweet Sixteen Blues is the song title.. you need to see B.B.King perform this song in Zaire the night before the Muhammed Ali vs George Foreman fight he is amazing... the concert was known as "The Black Woodstock" and featured James Brown, Pointer Sisters, Loyd Price, B.B.King and many more artists

  • MONTEREY JAZZ FESTIVAL

  • vintageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • absolutely classic

  • Fantastic !

What year was this recorded !?

  • This is the consumate master class for the blues guitar.

Dig the Charlie Christian tags from B.B in the beginning. Swinging and inimitable.
