  • Can't see it with this movie...

  • Best movie and awesome song

  • i've shown this movie to all my friends, everyone hated it. i wish i could have someone in my life that could understand the beauty of this film. breathtaking.

  • @woofsci

This movie is vastly over rated you piece of SHIT

  • @woofsci i agree, your feelings toward the film all depend on how much you can connect with these characters

  • To me this sounds very similar to Just Getting Older by Oasis - Noel may have stolen the chord progression..

  • Dear 240p, why is it that you are always here with my favorite music videos? Please upgrade yourself to a higher power. Thanks!

  • super coolS!

  • Quite a juxtaposition between the suffocation they both feel there and how free I'd feel being there. Perhaps that's why I love this film.

  • The best movie in the history of cinema.

  • @MrSghirat No. But it's a great film because it reveals a lot about those who love or hate it. All great films should but by no means is it the best. Oh, and dump your girlfriend bro.

  • Haven't watched the movie yet, but that is is a subject to change... Guess there still are crazy people left who chase their dreams. @oONodokaOo I follow a very similar path right now... Once you are infected with Japan you stay that way for the rest of your life. This is the most amazing country with the most amazing culture on the face of the earth! And this would be the most epic song to listen to as you are landing in Tokyo...

  • @ForgottenRomantic How true!! I feel exactly the same, once you are infected with Japan there is no way back. This country has something special the other coutries don't have! I'm still evolving thanks to Japan : I'm now having various experiences linked with professional interpreting, which is awesome. I will do my best to try to live from my passion.

Watching Lost in Translation make me travel back to Tokyo...!

I wish you all the best! Keep living your life to the max! :)

  • Nice video, thank you.

  • @DrDavidHowler You don't understand art very well.

  • @Wampaa I dunno, there's plenty of artsy films that I love and plenty that I don't love. This isn't even that artsy of a movie. "Awful" might have been an overstatement, it's probably worth watching just based on the three things I listed.

  • @DrDavidHowler What's an 'artsy' movie you love?

  • @leavantgarage Aguirre: The Wrath of God, Koyaanisqatsi, Pi, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive to name a few. I don't think of them as "art" though, just excellent fucking movies.

  • @DrDavidHowler You've named a few excellent movies indeed. I'm not sure what your problem with this one is, then.

By the way, Blue Velvet is amazing.

  • @DrDavidHowler Everyone's entitled to their opinion I guess ...but this movie was great.

  • So beautifully nostalgic.

  • @Havantlad12 that just sums it up.....

  • When i watched this movie it made me like life more then i previous did. Enjoy it, live it

  • that distorsion...

  • I bet so many posers are going around in Tokyo every night listening to this song in a cab ride after a couple vodka-tonics in a karaoke bar and then lay around in their underwear putting up mobiles and knitting scarves

  • @Roodski you know good about posing uh?

  • @Roodski And is that such a bad experience? Moments like that change people's lives, it makes them feel alive. Since when is it cheesy to feel alive?

  • @MrBringthenoise88 since you have to steal it from a movie like a dorkus malorkus

  • @Roodski You don't get it. It obviously frustrates you to think some people can be happy with that...

Don't care about others and go live your life to the max before you die... Or go on hating and you'll have a life full of regrets.

  • @Roodski omg if only i could

  • I'm glad I"m not the only one who's been affected by this movie. The soundtrack changed my perspective and introduced me to a whole new kind of culture. Not to mention made me fall in love with Japan. To those who have made it work over there, I'm jealous :-p

  • Amo este film.

  • Amazing.

  • greatest video ever made

  • love.

  • My broody varentine and rost in tlansration, both velly nice!!

  • @tvbrenner Haha vely funny.

  • I thought that nobody could ever figure out a window in the evening with a song like this.Coppola pulled out an emotion that no one has ever pulled off

  • such an amazing track

  • Even though I only understand about three words out of this song, it's one of my favorites

  • It is so devastatingly beautiful.

  • @DarthProg I trust you can provide examples from the "entire catalog" to support that claim.

  • I want to live in another planet.....just like the movie is showing us

  • I wrote a song about this movie. Loved it, bu tnot as much as this song. Pure fucking brilliance.

  • @DarthProg I'm sorry you didn't understand. Let me put it in simpler terms.

    They didn't copy a sound.

They were formed because Corgan was frustrated with bands who copied sounds.

He had an idea he wanted to express.

I hope this is simple enough for you to grasp.

  • @viperchris34 Complete nonsense. Their entire catalog copies the EXACT sound of this song. You can give whatever excuse you want for Corgan forming the band, but his mimicry of this sound is blatant. Is that simple enough for YOU?

  • @DarthProg wow that's quite a bold claim. What exactly was copied? Just wondering what's on your mind, because quite clearly you have no clue about anything relates to The Smashing Pumpkins catalog (lol) or to what "their entire sound" means.

  • @DarthProg btw this song was released in 1991.

  • Check out The Wild Eyes, early MBV garage rock wonderment: youtube.com/watch?v=V_LSrCvXXWM

  • 1:48 - 2:15 .... is that Shinjuku?

  • Truly one of the most beautiful songs written. The perfect example of how simplicity and atmosphere mixed together can create a song so emotional without sounding forced at all. I haven't heard a song that encapsulated the melancholy and atmosphere of a film as beautifully and perfectly as it did in Lost In Translation.

  • YEEEEAAAAHHH this bloody video is back!!!!

This video is a perfect portrait of what I think about this lovely movie...

  • Comment removed

  • Any chance for a high-def version of this?

  • yay happiness ^_^ !!

  • It's 8am and i'm listening to this song. Best feeling going

  • I agree. You CANNOT play this loud enough.

  • this can touch even the most remote layers of my soul

  • Best song the Smashing Pumpkins never wrote

  • @verd3

Best song the Smashing Pumpkins ripped off to build their entire career.

    Fixed that for ya.

  • @DarthProg Although I feel bad for entering into a debate in no way relevant to this video, I have to take this bait.

I don't believe in 'ripping off''. There is only using well, and using poorly. The smashing pumpkins by there own admission were formed by Corgan out of his frustration at the bands around him being influenced out of sounds and genres. He said the Pumpkins were incredibly difficult to form because they were based on an idea, not a sound. Re: official boxset unofficial interview

  • @viperchris34 Sorry, but I'm unable to decipher any meaning in what you just wrote. "influenced out of sounds and genres" What does that even mean??

All I'm saying is that the Smashing Pumpkins clearly based their entire sound on THIS very song. It's blatant and obvious. Whether it's "used" "well" or "poorly" could be debated.

I've read your post three times now and still don't understand your point.

  • @DarthProg ughh im pretty sure pumpkins were making music before this song

  • @mustbejames1 Sorry, but you're wrong. The Smashing Pumpkins formed as a band around the time this song was being written. And their first major release came out 2 years after this song. My Bloody Valentine formed in 1983. Thanks for playing.

  • so high

  • Beautiful song that perfectly accompanies a beautiful movie. I was so delighted when I heard it in the movie - it fits it so well.

  • this movie changed my life

  • Comment removed

  • @NextGenRev This movie changed my life to an unbelievable extent. It made me take japanese at university. Then I studied it very hard and I loved it (yeah, even kanji!) I was selected as an echange student this year. I saw northwestern Honshu and Tokyo for real, alone, at only 20 years old. I studied and worked in a japanese university. I spent the best times of my life there and am now convinced my professional life will be linked to Japan somehow. Without this movie, nothing of this would be.

  • @oONodokaOo

    Truly inspiration comment.

Right now I'm studying Japanese at University with my year in Japan to start this September. I think that this film inspired me too. I hope that I can have as good a time as you seem to have had!

  • @afronathan

This movie is so powerful and inspirational! :D

Cheers!! Hard work always pay. I'm sure you will never forget this experience ! :) Just don't be afraid to talk to the people and to learn from them, to enjoy and to study... You can learn so many things thanks to these exchange student programs about the country, the language and life in general... Have fun!

(You probably are in the administrative paper filling phase now... Good luck with that! Believe me, it's worth the effort)

  • @oONodokaOo

    What a good post

  • @oONodokaOo That sounds really good.

  • @oONodokaOo What schools did you go to? I'm thinking about doing the same thing you've done. And congrats at doing it at a young age - I'm 28 and just getting started, even though its a dream I've been nurturing for years.

  • @pineapplepeanuts I went to Niigata University (north-west Honshu). My home university is located in Nantes, France. Don't worry, it's never too late to take part in an exchange program! I'm sure if you give everything and never give up your dream, it will be worth the effort. It was for me!

I wish you much success whatever you plan to do.

  • @oONodokaOo Interesting - I've got a friend who's Japanese currently living in France on a cultural exchange. Small world :-) Thanks for your inspiration - if an exchange program is feasible, I'm gonna do what I can to get over there. If we ever end up in the same neighborhood over there, I'll buy you a beer! :-p

  • @oONodokaOo yeah the world belongs to the brave ones. Good for you! Good luck

  • Wow that's extreme. When I first saw the movie I thought they were acting like dumb arrogant American foreigners, but after a quick stint in a foreign country I emphathized with them and started to really like this movie.

  • @gdoddmeta3608 OH NO! What will he do now that you've declared him gay? Probably suck your cock since this is clearly one big giant cock baiting trick on your part. Well played homo. And remember, it's not gay if you can't taste it.

  • @Xaymot

So what you're saying is... you want to taste my cock?

    OMFG GTFO FAGOT HAHAHAHA

  • @oONodokaOo simply amazing

  • @oONodokaOo I don't think that was the point of the film. You should probably stay away from films for the rest of your life.

  • @Xaymot And miss out on life? :/ Certainly not!

  • @NextGenRev bueeee aguanta, ni que fuera terminator 2

  • best... song... ever.

  • I really love this, Thank You. :)

  • My Beloved.

    My Bloody Valentine.

Till I see you all again.

    Sometime.

  • HEY SIS, HOW DO YOU GET SO MANY VIEWS?

  • For some reason when i listen to this song i always imagine a couple of kids walking through a city as an enormous mass of pink fog forms behind them...

who know that suffering for love could be put into such a beautiful blizz of distorted emotion

  • damn i miss odaiba! thats the rainbow bridge right at the very first part? i saw that when we went to yokohama for a tabehodai chinese foods!!

  • I love the heavy distortion and the song is relaxing. Plus a great movie!

  • First time I heard this song in the movie I felt like crying, gave me a very odd feeling (in a good way). I'm glad this video is back, instantly favourited it.

  • I wonder what the geniuses have done for us to make a film with such an original screenplay all accopagned by a sublime soundtrack and a wonderful photography ...?

I love definitly your tribute to one of the most beautiful dramatic romance ever made and evocative of what is hapiness, close frienship, hope and sadness between two human beings.

Thanks to you and to everyone who contributed to the realisation of this project who is certainly very valuable to me.

  • Scarlett, Sometimes, Lost In Translation; all three are so beautiful...

  • Best night time driving song EVER.

  • @ercichewman Great observation... most definitely.

  • such heavy distortion yet its so soft at the same time.its like a warm blanket of sound.very special

  • It's kinda funny that the japaneese guy playing the fake guitar is playing a fake fender jazzmaster (one of the main guitars used for recording loveless, and the picture on the front of the album)

  • i crying everytime i'm listening and watching this.... this is soo beautiful :)

  • Thinking about doing a music video with Joy Division - Atmosphere, or the ending with that playing instead of the original music. Good idea?

  • While I was sitting in a car in Japan this song played on a constant loop.

  • Amazing film all around. Leaves us enough for our imagination, yet shows us enough to get a conversation going. Not laugh out loud funny, yet very amusing at times. Sad, interesting, you name it. One of the best of the 2000's.

  • pure love

  • Wow.

  • fuck. i like a bloody chemical vampire valentine weekend romance song.

  • Loveless is my favoirite album in the entirety of music ever created. I had no idea that it would be in this film and when the song suddenly came on, I was in a state of complete euphoria.

  • That minute in the movie with this song might be my favourite ever.

  • This song and movie is for me a constant reminder of how I need to start over. Change everything.

  • i hate drone shit it sounds like white people in africa

  • @thedesiresymposium NICELY PUT

  • @thedesiresymposium god what a faggoty thing to say

  • @alienmode pull your head out of yer ass and soak it in a bucket of ice water.

  • The best thing about this movie is its soundtrack, oh yea, and Scarlett.

  • This song is so chilling, it goes perfectly with the mood and atmosphere of the movie.

  • cant stop watching this.gives me a feeling that is hard to describe in my stomach.the feeling like i need to just escape and start all over again

  • Lost In Translation.

  • Nicely made video form my favorite movie.

  • Absolutely love this video. Was sad when it went away.

    But now it's back!

  • beautiful

  • Nostalgia.

  • when i hear this song I get an overwhelming sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach

  • This song+this movie! Agh... I can't even explain... Its such a beautiful feeling

  • I love this song and movie.

  • I did not expect this appears during the film, crush me down so beautiful.

  • I love this video!

  • Damn i love this song even if it's kinda sad, good movien btw! Kudos for this video!

  • Dam'n This shing is kinda sad, but i love it! Kudos for this video!

  • this song is a life made up of guitar, voices and a rush.

  • Que pelicula tan buena y mas con la musica de My Bloody Valentine, mi banda favorita...

  • WMG should die by the feedback from Mr Shields guitar rig....

  • para @brancanoescuro

  • This is just too good

  • they should make second version of this film....maybe in Europe.

  • YES , IT´S BACK, don´t know why, maybe there´s no WMG anymore. Do K. Shields know about this "video"?

  • Is the video gone again?

  • HOORAH! THE VIDEO IS BACK

  • Was there MBV music in Lost in Translation? I want to watch that movie now.

  • missed this video :')

  • genial, excelente tema me encantó!!!!!!

  • truly incredible song. my favorite song ever. so many memories come back when i listen to this song...of being in the city with the one i loved most, and feeling so free.

  • Japan is fun to visit, place is amaizing, (I been there in 97- 98) but a nightmare to live and work in, from what I hear from native Japanese. Too many restrictions, regulations, etc.

I love the way it is all about service, japanese speak little and seem a bit introverted, but they are really nice and thoughtfull if you get to know them. In USA and other western/southern cultures, people are loud & obnouxsious.

I love being served 110%, its profesional, confidential and exceeds expectations.

  • @someoneinusa

    Im japanese.

I agree with your japanese friend.

I think Japan is fun to travel.but its hard to live and work in Japan.

I hope many people come to japan to travel.and enjoying it.

Im not good at English sorry.

  • @shiganono22 Your English is just fine dear. Better than many Americans I know.

  • @shiganono22

Your English is perfectly good :)

  • @shiganono22 i agree. i'm from Japan but I grew up in Hawaii for the past 7 years. I am now too used to the life style and attitude in hawaii. i don't belong in japan anymore. its too oppressing in japan. yes, cities like tokyo are definitely entertaining but when you stay there for long time enough, you'll see it's all fake.

  • Close my eyes

    Feel me now

I don't know how you could not love me now

You will know, with her feet down to the ground

Over there, and I want true love to grow

You can't hide, oh no, from the way I feel

  • thanks to sofia(coppola) i want to visit tokyo so bad

  • THE VIDEO IS BACK!!! DON´T KNOW WHY. FUCK THE WMG

  • I love it. Now I want to live in Tokio!

  • @Agustina688

    Où est "Tokio"?

    Crétin...

  • Tune written by a genius. Nobody knows the actual lyrics of this song. If anybody thinks they do please mail me. By the way I have done a cover on myspace desleesongs just google desleesongs if u care

  • im from jpn so im so used to these flashy things but i can relate to scarlett johansson. idky tho. everyone feels alone anywhere. i see a thousand holes in everyone. oops its not about mbv lol

  • love you!

  • When LOVELESS was released at the end of 91, I remember listening the cassette more than 10 times a day.I was having a very nervous breakdown and I did believe that the songs had been written to ease my sufferings.Almost eighteen years after, I am still fond of this record, one of the best ever produced in the 90's.And the movie is great as well, the filming really matches the music.

  • this song is beautiful. I'm pretty sure most people disagree with you.

  • you'll like it again someday

  • The soundtrack made this movie. It suited the Tokyo landscape and mood so amazingly well it sent a chill down my spine the first time I watched.

  • why dont they have a hq option for this?!

  • this is cool-- if you like this, check out "forget yourself" by The Church. its very good.

  • its the sort of song that you can have really loud yet still be relaxed while listening to it.

  • I feel exactly the same way ^^

This song is my lullaby I swear :)

  • Comment removed

  • ^-^ Oh really?

Thats pretty cool of her :P lol

I did it cause I love ya buddy! <3 :D

    -- The friend xD

  • @Volren2 YES. they bring a whole new meaning to distortion.

  • @Volren2 Exactly!! It keeps sucking you in to play it louder. My roommates tell me of a time i came home at 4 am really pissed and blew the house speakers because "I still couldn't HEAR it".
