You have your opinion about the Les Paul doing this song justice but I ain't buying that at all......Dave Edmunds blows the doors off this song and those Gibsons with his version...... I prefer the more trebly Fender and energy in this version
I just don't get it about everyone proclaiming that Moore and Vaughan were "The best ever" etc.......
Man, an original Mississippi Delta bluesman blows the doors off of anyone. There just isn't the feeling
I also wanted to add that i love gary moore as much as Jimi, Greg , Frank and all my guitar hero's. I based parts of my own guitar style directly from some of garys phrazing etc. I love Gary Moore, But he is not the greatest blue's man ever, and to put it point blank, just because you are famous and play the blue's stellar, makes you NOT the greatest, it makes one of them. But without inovators like robert johnson, to Frank gambale, to Yngwie, where would we be as guitar players any damn way?
Gary was the Best British Guitarist Of All Time {Northern Ireland UK Included} - He Always Played With Passion - Feeling and Added The Drive to Thin Lizzy.
@flyingv64 Now just hold it one damn minute there novice!!! The greatest ever? NOT! The greatest (BLUES MEN) that did live, and ever will are either pased on, or in therte 80's and 90's, and obviously black men and the soul creators of this music taken and used to continue the leagacy of this music that brought you people like Gary, and every guitarist today that matters. Give credit where it's due. The creators are the greatest in all catagories of music centuries past. Don't forget that!
@TurkishEckoI agree 100% It is nice to see there are still people out there who still know good blues. Just because you can play fast does not mean you are the best. Moore is great, but I find his tone whines to much. I think it is more about feel, and that is where SRV shines. People may be able to play his stuff, but it will never sound the same.
@680540 SRV had a totaly different style in blues then Gary!1 more so Gary thecnic would have been baried SVR on CONTEST he is better musically inclined cus of the rock modes Gary is ussing were SRV is just more ox a straight forward blues player no rock modes really at all ,, u can here here in this vid how Gary ripps the modes in this blues jam allong with the pentatonic scales,,, so to me he is a way better player then SVR. they bouth great but Gary is the man

Guitarist Ronnie Montrose is claiming that he’s found his beloved 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard that was stolen from a concert stage over 35 years ago, and he’s now suing the guitarist he claims has it – none other than legendary blues guitarist Gary Moore.Montrose, best remembered as a member of the Edgar Winter Group and writer of the songs “Free Ride” and “Frankenstein,” has long held that someone swiped his prized Gibson Les Paul in 1972
When someone shows antagonism towards an educated opinion and then calls a masterpiece like Edmunds 'simplistic and childish', it speaks more of you and your musical impotence than the subject at hand. I bet you weren'teven born when Edmunds was in his prime - so how can you ever understand his virtuosity within the context of the time. Decades later Moore does his cover - having learned from a master like Edmunds. A good dose of maturity will help you......... @gibberishgilbert
Heavily mod'd LP. P-ups, stop tail can't tell bout the bridge. It doesn't sound much like an LP to me. Having said that Gary Moore is an amazing player don't get me wrong but his tone in this too hard for me.
Gary is one of my few favorite guitar players, he had amazing feelings for playing, speed, technique and everything, I'm sorry to break it down but Stevie Ray Vaughan is just uncomparable with any of the guitarists ever. R.I.P. both of them.
"even for a Heritage"........Heritage makes gorgeous guitars. period. The guitar is as good as any Les Paul you will ever pick up......unfortunately most of the "tone" is in Gary's fingers. IF you listen to many of his videos you see that he gets that "tone" out of every guitar he plays. Marshall and select effects help also. But those fingers were the real deal~!
@mdamop Have seen Rory live many times love his "Coulda had Religion. My comment about Gary was mistaken by 2 now. Gary Moore brought back many old blues man, who had faded away, back to the stage to tour with him and record once again. Sad that the best new blues guitarist tend to leave this world too young.
Saw Gary live ... just the once....but he was awesome and my hubby who wasn't a fan couldn't believe just what he could do with a guitar...defo one of the best highlights of my life.....keep on rocking up in the skies Gary :)
Unbelievable guitar performance. What a massive loss to the Rock/Blues world. I wish I could have seen you before you left us. God bless you Gary. Thank you for this video.
The late Gary Moore, came from Irelands Thin Lizzy to the Blueeeeeeeeeeees. but name me one white boy other than Johnny Winters that brought the original blues men back home to their own with more love and concerts????
@harveydents I don't know about that. What made Stevie and Hendrix special was how they were one with the guitar. It didn't have anything to do with speed or technical difficulty. It had to do with pouring every bit of their soul into every note, and the crowd felt it. There is a reason Stevie is a household name and Gary Moore is not.
@EddieMotorhead That's funny. I remember asking a few people if they heard about Gary Moore dying, and they all said the same thing...."who the hell is Gary Moore??". Gary was a great guitar player, but he was nowhere near a household name. Chances are, if you are not a guitar player you have no idea who he is. Stevie Ray Vaughan however, is known by everyone.
@murfdog19 Funny, opposite happend to me, everytime a disgussion about guitarist no a SINGLE one mentions Stevie, and they allmost allways mentioning Gary Moore. Funny isnt it? But i guess you are from the states so i can understand you :)
@EddieMotorhead Yes, I am from the States. You can't be a household name if you aren't known here. Are you from one of the other countries where musicians go when they can't make it here?
@murfdog19 I'm from the States too, Eddie. If you traveled a bit you'd realize that "making it in the States" isn't a third as big a deal as you seem to think it is. The day the rock and roll scene is as hot here as it is in Europe is the day I'll fly to Venus and feed the rabbits.
@edfou5 All musicians dream of making it big in the States. I have played in the U.S. and England. When I played in England, all of the other bands talked about how badly they wanted to play here. As stated before, you can't be a "household name" until you make it in the U.S.
@murfdog19 Wrong, you can still be a household name without being big in america, the world expands beyond america if you didn't knew. I shouldn't generalize really, but since most americans got crap taste into music, with all that rap and pop bubble gum stuff it's no wonder good , TALENTED musicans seeks their ways elsewhere where they are appritiated, period. Not succeeding and becoming big in america doesnt mean you are bad if you try other parts of the world.
@harveydents Dont know about that man, both incredible incredible players, two of my biggest influences and two all time greats. Gary plays with heart, soul, emotion, has beautiful, full, ballsy tone just like SRV did. Obviously Gary was a more melodic player, and maybe more versatile, but we cant deny what SRV could physically and emotionally do with a guitar...check out the vid on here of him doing "texas flood long version"....that's passion, skill, and TONE buddy. Love both players...
@dmb3305 Check out "Gary Moore - Texas Strut" (watch?v=yEdWj3GlZVc&feature=related)................. i think, that is a answer to SRV's "Texas Flood".
@vheartrocks Mate you should listen to whatever you love, rock, punk, hip-hop, classical, it dont matter so long as your ears are enjoying, Gary Moore was brilliant at what he did and he's sadly missed now so keep listening, what is the norm anyway? it's whatever you love to listen too! XX
Talking about ripping somebody off...Listen to ZZ Tops Apologizes to Pearly...Same song except with slide in it...How Gibbons and Ham didn't keep from getting sued over that one is a mystery...
@nfsfreak72 Listen to Apologies to Pearly all the way through..It has the same turn around , check out it...The same chords...Elmore never had that many chords in his songs!
Mr Moore was such an underrated guitarist while for example Slash is overrated, but anyway, I'm only 15 and I love blues, jazz, rock, and so on, I also play guitar and Gary was and still is one of my influences, I suppose to see him this year for the first time in Poland, I was so excited, but on Sunday afternoon (06/02/11) I heard he died, it pretty upset me, he was an amazing guitarist for me... RIP Mr Moore, you'll be missed..</3
I saw Moore live on a couple of occasions and, in my opinion, he had the finest Les Paul sound (irrespective the company) of any player I have heard. Thanks, Gary.
If only it was a strat.

Plimsoul97 8 months ago
@Plimsoul97 It's just Moore's take on it dude, and without the likes of Freddie King there'd be no Peter Green, no Gary Moore and no stumble at all!

XX

@diagn0stik Listen to Apologies to Pearly and Listen to this..Same thing..Can''t you hear?..LOL
SteveGaines 8 months ago
Talking about ripping somebody off...Listen to ZZ Tops Apologizes to Pearly...Same song except with slide in it...How Gibbons and Ham didn't keep from getting sued over that one is a mystery...
SteveGaines 8 months ago
@SteveGaines This is an old Freddie King song...
nfsfreak72 8 months ago
@nfsfreak72 Yes, I know it is..But Go and listen to APOLOGIES TO PEARLY by ZZ TOP...They ripped Freddie Off on that one!
SteveGaines 8 months ago
@SteveGaines I can see where you're coming from, but I think Apologies to Pearly is closer to Elmore James, since it's a 12 bar with slide.
nfsfreak72 8 months ago
