  • wonderful Video

  • I've been waiting for someone to post this! Thank You!!!

  • wow that is a powerful scene

  • The message of this movie is so very strong. More people need to think for themselves or the state will dominate and extirpate freedom.

  • This makes me cry every time... it's the most powerful scene in this whole movie and regardless of how sad it is, it's the most beautiful.

  • One of he most powerful scenes ever!

  • Portman is amazing

  • There is so much sadness... and anger... and despair in the world. It is so hard to believe that joy, contentment, and peace can succeed or exist.

This quote is very cliche, but it will always be true.

I hope every creature finds "peace on Earth."

  • I cried so hard at this part, I, myself, are homosexual, I hope Britain never turns out like this, otherwise I'm screwed. Beautiful film. -3

  • @DarkPrisms I think the UK is far more tolerant of the LGBT community than many other countries around the world. Definitely more tolerant than the US anyway. But things aren't perfect, so there are many of us who fight intolerance and hate, will fight for you tooth and nail until you're treated as equal to heterosexuals.

  • "God exists, and he's American." -> Alan Moore ? ... Yeah.

  • Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch but one...

  • I played this for my class today during homeroom. Almost all were all in tears. The only ones that weren't listening or paying attention. Even some of the boys in the class, I am a junior in High School btw. It was so sad. I cannot stand when people see badly of others. I played this for them to stop the bullying against some of the homosexuals at school. I am completely for equal love! -Lily

  • @LilyMoth12 People like you change the world. Good work.

  • Within that inch, we are free.

  • "it was her wrists..." that is just so beautiful and pure

  • Every time I read the comic to this I cry my eyes out. Every time I see this movie I cry. I love this movie so much.

  • @LilyMoth12 Alan Moore is nothing little of Brilliant

  • when you see tears form in eveys eyes, thats when i start to cry too. every time

  • sue and don aurandt, the first chance you had, you turned me over to the 'evil socialist govt'....you had your chance....and you failed miserably. Never call me..don't email me..take your chances..that is the choice in life...enjoy your social security...republican monsters...vote for palin! She's death

  • Me and my girlfriend had a hard time watching this. Her brother was in the room and all we wanted to was hold each other.

  • I cry. Every time. I cry.

  • I'm an atheist and this scene has made "God is in the rain" one of my favourite quotes.

  • How can you be against hot lesbians? V is fighting for the oysters and I for one agree.

  • Perfect. Simply perfect.

  • I love you. With all my heart, I love you.

  • This video makes me shake. But i can't stop watching it over and over again.

  • 18 people don't have hearts.

  • The greatest 6minutes 20seconds ever captured in a movie !!

  • I am a straight guy. My best friend in the entire world is a lesbian. When I first saw this scene, I hadn't known her.

I watched this again when it came on tonight. I cried. I couldn't help it. I don't want her to apologize anymore. I love her, and I hope she can smell roses for eternity with the right girl. I never want a day of guilt to go by her again in this bigotry-filled world: just the same love without regret that I have the privilege of experiencing.

  • This is the most beautiful part of the entire movie. <3

  • I have this song from the soundtrack on my iPod, and as I listen to it I know exactly what Valerie's saying during each part of the song. Makes me cry every time.

  • Let's never forget this actually happened to over 40,000 GLBT people during the Holocaust.

  • @MrStarstruck404

Not to mention those 6 million jews and several million other civilians killed in the holocaust.

  • @DiscoSamurai7 But when the Ally soldiers got to the concentration camps, they released the Jews, and left the gays and lesbians to die.

  • Happy Vth of November

  • "I still don't understand it, why they hate us so much.."

You and me both my friend, you and me both..

  • Does integrity here mean being honest to herself and to others? Being truthful about her identity to her parents and to the world and not being anything else? Her being a lesbian? Cuz if so, that has to be the MOST beautiful thing ever, "the ONLY thing worth having"

  • @capitanzach Yes, you are right =)

  • I don't usually cry but this scene never fails to tear me up. So beautifully written

  • Is it weird I find Sarah attractive even though she's like, 12+?

  • my favorite part from this movie. its just sooo moving its crazy. and it takes alot to "Move" me and this scene does it

  • this part of the movie made me cry like i have not cried before

  • I remember when I was 9, I've heard that Netherlands legalized the same-sex marriage and in a childish joke I said to my best friend "great idea, what about me and you marry." (without knowing what was homosexuality) and after his "yes" his mother pulled over, and screamed to us "I don't want f* faggots in my f* car... I will call your parents, pussy!". In my innocense I thought "why? Now I know that hate, doesn't grow in us, but is raised by some stupid adults!

  • @alegiaodarazao I'm transgender and my aunt & uncle didn't want their little son to know because they thought he "wouldn't understand it". It's not children that don't understand LGBT issues - it's adults that don't. Children are not born hating us. Like you said, they are taught to hate by adults.

  • @alegiaodarazao

But how did the hate grow in them? What about their parents? And before that? And before that? Hate is what makes us human. We look for anything that we can use to attack someone who isn't completely in total agreement with us, or is different from us. You'd be amazed at the levels our species can sink to in order to make others look bad, as well as spread hate and intolerance.

  • The words "and apologized to no one" are so profound and powerful for a GLBT person, that it's almost impossible for me to describe how the so deeply affect and move me. I can only hope that I can have "...roses and apologize...to no one".

  • wats the name of this soundtrack!!??

  • I'm doing this for acting class. I'm a guy and changed the names around, but the point is the room was so silent you could hear a pin drop and by the end I was in tears and my best friends ran up to hug and console me.

  • I am crying like I have never cried before.

  • This I think more than anything else helped me realise who and what I am, and to not be afraid.

  • I hope that - whoever you are - you escape this place. I hope that the world turns, and that things get better.

But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you, and even though I may not meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you: I love you.

    With all my heart.

    I love you.

    -Valerie."

  • For three years I had roses,

    and apologized to no one...

  • I've read V for for Vendetta at least a million times (haven't seen the movie, sorry) and every time I read this part, I cry.

  • Kinda nice where a video can bring people together instead of the opposite and rudeass comments.

  • This is the one scene in any movie that, without fail, makes me bawl or at least shed a tear.

  • I love each and every one of you with every ounce of being in my heart, and there is nothing you can do about it.

  • this scene makes me cry.

  • i will usually scroll randomely thru the comments just to get peoples perspective on a video and after reading these comments its such a touching and beautiful thing to know that there are still people who care and have a genuine love of humanity and love itself. so i wanted to say thank you and i love you.

  • faith in humanity... rising!

  • I fear that this will become our present soon.

  • I find this letter so beautiful and touching no matter how many times I hear it...

  • This was my favorite part of the movie. Her voice is lovely.

  • @brassclarinet i love her voice...

  • iT DOESNT MATTER if your a man who loves a man or a woman who loves a woman. It is still love and love is the most beautiful thing we have to offer, it is the closest thing we have to magic. It is the only thing we have close to our hearts. <3

  • I hope that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you...

    I love you.

  • the first time I saw this scene, I hit the pause button and cried for five minutes. five years later and countless rewatchings, and it still makes my heart ache.

  • I have watched this scene so many times but I still cry every time! :-)

  • No man should rule another and command them to his will. There is only one path that would lay before him: utter ruin. For in his beliefs of goodness, evil will endure; to rule over another for good is but opinion at best; for what good may endure such evil when freedom is gone?

  • One of the best cures for homophobia and hatred towards diffrent people: Meeting them.

Well, maybe not the ones who try to hard by acting like a-holes or intentional freaks...

  • The "America's war got worse and worse" part always gives me chills. It could happen, you know...

  • This my absolute favourite scene from the movie - which is one of my absolute fav movies! It just means soo much.

  • I watch this scene at least once a day as a source of inspiration. As an atheist I experience a similar level of discrimination and hate simply for my differing opinion.

  • Just like living in an Islamic regime really. Coming soon to a country near you.

  • @EatTheRich247

    Yes. And it's called Canada.

  • In the Graphic Novel at least, Valerie's letter was the only reason why V could find the strength to survive the Human experiments he endured. Valerie is the reason he is V the "terrorist". The war he waged was publicly for everyone under Sutler' oppression. privately , however, it was for her. Go and read the full Letter Valerie wrote, not just the film adaptation.

  • I can say every line to this, by memory. c:

  • Chills every single time...This transcends the gay thing.

  • was the prisoner version of valerie also played by imogen poots?

  • Same sex marriage was never brought up in this scene, why does it seem like majority of the comments are in regards to same sex marriage? Just b.c these two acting in it play a homosexual roll doesn't mean it was a secret message for pro gay marriage. This also wasn't the first time where a certain group was focused on for genocide, Hitler didn't just focus on killing jews but also picked out the gays, blacks, handicap...etc Anyways funny how certain topics come up.

  • @jckgrim51 my thoughts exactly!!!!!

  • The end of the letter makes me cry every single time. So beautiful and so heartbreaking.

  • @nayners Me too! I'm sitting here blubbering, tears streaming down my face.

    It'd just so damn beautiful!

  • words like this mean more than people think, these words can inspire such great emotion that we once thought was impossable. It is the everlasting truth that love and hope are something worth living for. or something like that :P

  • the most beautiful scene in a movie i have ever seen

  • the point of the letter isnt about gays and other stuff the point is as humans what we need is love. the message can be summed up in one word: "LOVE" and not giving up, but if people cant get that out of the letter then dont watch movies or read books because apparently other movies or books might be tooo deep

  • All the comments are paragraphs!

  • Comment removed

  • The letter isnt about being gay or not, its about our integrity as a human being, we can buy o have anything material but at the end, thats all qe really own, we dont have to sell it for nothing, that is what trully defines us, we are what we are, and we dont have to be afraid or ashamed, everyone is different and we have to be tolerant and respect each other.

  • Why can gay people not declare their love for each other just like straight couples? It sounds like an absurd restriction. People should be able to do what they want without people telling them that they are wrong, or something that is part of their beings is repulsive. They are just humans wanting to be accepted for who they are. They want to be completely accepted. I am straight, and I cannot pretend to understand homosexuality completely, but I love everyone in this mainly beautiful world

  • Honestly, I can see both points of view. By saying my opinion, I may just be hated by both sides and have to go through with it alone. I believe some people do not want to allow gay marriage, bceause they want to hold onto a tradition that has been carried on for centuries. They do not want to change it, perhaps to hold onto something while everything else continues to change. They just want something to remain the same. I can also understand why people desperately want to allow gay marriage.

  • As a conservative, I say in full confidence that I bear no hatred for homosexuals. I love and respect every one of God's children regardless of their sexual orientation. It is a strawman to suggest that because I oppose gay marriage that I hate homosexuals. My opposition to gay marriage does not undermine the appreciation I have for the love shared by homosexual couples and it doesn't dehumanize them since marriage is a religious rite intended to bring a man and woman together for procreation,

  • @docmike1983 Except that marriage existed in all human societies prior to & in spite of 'organised' religion, e.g the 'Principle of Reciposity' - i.e we'll give you our daughters, maize, iron etc and you give us your daughters, wheat, timber etc. Marriage also exists among people who don't subscribe to religion at all. So Agnostics and Athiests shouldn't marry?

Marriage has evolved as human society has evolved, so it's as much about committing oneself to a soulmate regardless of sexuality.

  • @docmike1983 And yet we don't see you lot fighting to stop atheists, elderly, or infertile couples from marrying. You can keep up the facade of tolerance for gay people, but your hypocrisy will always betray your true nature.

  • Of course marriage is not restricted to religion. I never said that. All I was trying to say is that people of faith believe in the sanctity of marriage and thats why they oppose gay marriage. I actually believe that the govemment shouldn't be in the business of conducting marriages. That label has caused too many problems. Just call it civil unions, for both gays and straights. If you want marriage, thats between you and your religion. If your religion doesn't allow it, leave it.

  • @docmike1983 If people want marriage it's between them and their partner. Some people just need to accept that marriage can be between any two consenting human beings who are of age. The government only has to be involved so far as the legalities are concerned. Religion comes into it only if the couple want it that way. There are clergy that will marry gay couples now anyway - so for a whole lifetime they can have roses...and apologise to NO ONE!

  • This scene makes me love myself even though I'm gay and makes me love the girl I'm with so much more than she can ever comprehend. Thank you Valerie Page for existing in text, a movie, as well as my heart. (:

  • Valerie's letter in the movie is much better than the one in the comics. I have not read the comics but I have read the letter after watching the movie to compare. The one in the comic is sort of cheesy and weak compared to the movie which was very powerful. I guess the interplay of scenes and music made the movie one good. Music cannot be put into words. They have to be felt.

  • -... even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you I love you. With all my heart. - When I hear those words I think about about my distant friend from Norway. I don't know if she's safe, I don't know if she even live in Oslo now because we haven't been in contact for a while but I do hope she's ok. Peace for all. And if believing that light is always more powerful that darkness means I'm a looser then let it be.

  • Watch this while listening to "A man meets the boy" from the Samurai X OST

  • This movie is great, the scene is great and Hugo Weaving is great. Natalie Portman was okay and tolerated her for the sake of the others.

  • GOD IS NOT CALLED GOD, HE IS A GOD. FIND HIS NAME.

DON'T SELF LABEL YOURSELVES EITHER. but, IF YOU MUST, LABEL

    YOURSELF . . . . FREE ! I

    Sincerly

  • God is in the rain

  • One of the most moving scenes in film history. Makes me cry every single time.

  • She doesn't only talk about love to once partner. Not even a mention of hate to the people that's doing this to her.

What she is talking about is more important, unselfish love. The one that is too rare in this world. Too have compassion and forgivness, to be proud of what you are and see others greatness and beauty. If you, others follow.

We only live one time and we can't take anything with us where we're going.

The movie shows somewhat in smal parts shows how fundamentalism grows each day

  • I am 12 years old and I feel that I uderstand more than some people when I say...

Love is a wonderful beautiful thing,

No matter if it is between a woman and a man,

  • @indeesblogg i can only hope that a your generation carries on and follows your beautiful example of love and compassion. such deep words coming from such a young person. knowing that there are young people who are open minded and understand that love is a majestical thing is so touching. you are wise beyond your years. even though i may never meet you, laugh with you, or cry with you... i love you thank you 4 your touching words. it means so much more coming from someome of ur generation. ty!!

  • @vausejason Aww.. thank you so much! Was having a bad day til i read your comment :') Thank you again.

  • @indeesblogg no thank u. i have been debating some things and this video always empowers me. im sorry u were having a bad day. im glad i could put a smile on ur face which is a priceless gift. but i must say ur words upon reading them impacted me stronger than the video itself. so everyday of ur life remember that u have made at least one person feel that they are a beautiful creation and put a smile on thier face. so once again thank u!!!

  • @indeesblogg What about a man and a dog?

  • @EzioFox55 2 seres humanos, no una persona y un perro

  • I just cried...thanks...

  • This scene is not about being gay or straight it is about being human. : )

  • @Ellington3 Exactly, which is why so many of us can relate to it. It is love, and love knows no boundaries.

"Our integrity sells for so little, but it is all we really have. It is the VERY LAST INCH of us, but within that inch...we are free" - V4V

  • @Ellington3 Unfortunately, to some people, being gay means you're not human. :(

  • This scene made me cry and made me realise that love is always LOVE, it's all we need.

  • "I still don't understand it...why they hate us so much."

    I don't either, Valerie...I don't either.

  • @thedementedpianist christians.

    its the christians.

    thats why.

  • @TheTrilbyWill I am a Christian myself and as you can see I do not agree with looking down on people that prefere the same sex. Just so you know :) have a nice day!

  • Le plus beau scène du film <3

  • I want Valerie to narrate my life. Her voice is so touching

  • This scene makes me cry so hard. So freaking beautiful I can't even find the real word to describe it. I'm not a homosexual, but it doesn't even matter. I completely understand her. Everyone should have the right to love.

  • Underrated, this film is. Very much underrated.

  • v for vendetta is one of my most favorite movies ( apart from pan's labrynth ) this part made me truly "fall in love" with this type of movie genre... ( ruth is HOT )

  • i loved this part of this movie, but though v for vendetta is one of my most favorite movies ( apart from pan's labrynth ) this part really truly made fall in love with this type of movie genre.

  • i dont give a flyin shit how unmanly it is 2 confess this or how many closet fags will think im sum kinda homo supporter or that im gay my self what the fuck ever i dont know who is reading this thinks i dont care who im confessing this 2 but the 1st time i saw this scene and everytime ive watched it since ive cryed cryed so hard as hard as if sum1 i had known had died i cryed harder when i read it n the book i cryed.... i love u all no matter how fucked u r

  • @MrALEXisBORING awww thats so so sweet

  • @mia200085 eh i try

  • it was her wrists... they were beautiful.

  • ♥Natasha Wightman & ♥Hugo Weaving were in a league of their own.

  • This scene made me cry when I saw it in theaters. I was in high school and I just loved the line "For three years I had roses and apologized to no one." It was that idea of being free to love, to be who you are, and to never have to apologize to anyone. I was a Christian then and I believed that homosexuality was wrong. I know I was changing all through those years, questioning, but I think of this scene as a catalyst for me, an obvious moment of doubt. How much it means, I can't say.

  • @fabifly Just because you are Christian doesn't mean you hate gays but not agreeing with their life choice is something different.

  • I'm acting out Valerie's story as a monologue for my final in drama, and web though I know every line, I still choke up watching it play out. It is beautifully done and I hope I do it justice.

  • honestly, this is one of the best scenes from this movie.

  • I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none :)

  • I love this seen in this movie .this is by far the most touching thing I've her in my life. Every time I watch it I cry an I mean every time . It really scares me that there really are governments like this even today . The amount of truth in this movie is amazing . This shows first hand that in one way or the other that all governments are corrupt .

  • This movie changed my complete outlook on life. And I stand by those last lines. When people ask to understand who I am, I request they watch this movie, but to pay close attention to this scene. Once they watch this, and thinking of the whole movie in retrospect, they tell me they understand me completely. In which I reply: "With all my heart, I love you."

  • This brilliant scene always makes me think of what Simone de Beauvoir said: “In itself, homosexuality is as limiting as heterosexuality: the ideal should be to be capable of loving a woman or a man; either, a human being, without feeling fear, restraint, or obligation.”

  • Simply love this! I've never been so touched by any other scene!

  • The music and her voice are absolutely beautiful.

  • This movie is better than RedBull. After you watched this, your mentality is awake.

  • @DerSchweizerPatriot I've never had a redbull they scare me.

  • Every inch...but one.

  • I ask this question of all kinds of bigots everyday: Why DO they hate us so much?

  • "I remember how different became dangerous. I still don't understand it - why they hate us so much." This is six minutes of some of the best film ever made. When "different is dangerous," no one is safe.

  • @theaugustgirl Very well said. Such a wonderful scene. If only it could touch every one this way.

  • I can not watch this without crying.

thak god it's fiction. But I can not help but think that it's not far from what some people want. And that breaks my heart.

  • there could be an entire movie about that scene..simply great and mind-opening i think =)

  • That is heartfelt aside from the sexuality

  • This scene saves the movie for me. It's a fairly mediocre film overall but this one moment is so brilliantly executed that it makes the whole thing worth watching.

  • I just really dont know how to dislike this vid....are they so heartless...i feel sry for them =(

  • ‎"For three years, I had roses and apologised to no one." The line that always gets me. And @hikariwings18 is right, her voice is incredibly beautiful.

  • Check out Common People of The World on FACEBUK!

  • This part became even more special to me when I found out V had a memorial dedicated to her. November the 5th was not just for him but for everyone. This scene alone makes this movie one of my favorites
