  • Great video! We were there in April, 2010 and I went up it several times, culminating with a 43 minute round trip from the bus stop (25 minutes up and 18 minutes down). One of the all time best short trails.

  • By the way, when the videographer says the camera is pointing north, it is actually pointing due south. Maybe he was looking north at the time.

  • My wife and I did this hike last September, and it is by far one of the top two hikes I've ever been on. Videos and photos just don't do it justice. The almost euphoric feeling you get by climbing this lofty fin of sandstone is well worth the massive crowds (this video must have been taken in the off-season - there literally was a train of people going up and down the trail when I was there, along with perhaps 50 or so people on the top at any given time) and steep trail.

  • Been to the top of Walters Wiggles several times. Never going to do Angels Landing. I almost threw up watching this. This video was more than convincing to me that there is NO way I would make it down, I'd make it up I think, not down. I am totally fine with being a pansy about it. Everyone is afraid of something!

  • I think I have vertigo now. Thanks for the vid thouh.

  • Doesnt look to bad really...But what do i know, i did the freaking big shot ride ont he stratosphere tower in las vegas....

  • Its really not too bad, you especially realize this on the way back down. Just did it! Its a blast.

  • I DID IT

    I AM SUPER MAN!!!! HAHAHAHAAAA

  • cool shirt!

  • Good job Beijing Mike. Of all the videos I've seen re Angels Flight. This video captures the drop-offs and narrow cliffs the best.

  • wow its beautiful and i also freaked out a lil' just watching this, the steps up to the final seems very intimidating... im afraid of heights but i really wanna do Angels landing when I go to Zion... dilemma right now...

  • @snowygurl87 DO IT!!!! It isnt all that bad

  • Fallout new vegas!

  • wow you're not afraid of heights at all :D

  • i cant watch this without crying! i love utah.

  • My son and I are about to do this hike. We were in Zion last month and did the Emerald Pools hike. I had him watch this to see what he thought of the cliffs and stuff. He thinks he can make it... he's 8 years old, so we'll see how he does.

  • I love this hike, I've done it a couple times. That valley view from the top is actually to the south.

  • Unbelievable video, If someone tells you they are afraid of heights and they climb this they are full of shit.No way would they go near the chains ....or sheer drops..

  • @joemanpjg I worked at the lodge for a few years and that part of the trail is where you keep a firm grip on the chain while keeping in mind that if you lose your grip, you're going to die.

  • Wow, fantastic video! I got to see what I missed in 2007. I was with a group of friends including my 7 year old and I had a panic attack at the first chains. My 7 year old whet on with the others, while I waited. Thank you for sharing your hike, for I now know I could never do it. I had thought of trying again. Ha ha not after seeing your video! It was beautiful though.

  • You're THE MAN! Thank you for this. I luv ur language: "Curtains" "Hairy parts." I want to do this & went so far as to visit back in the first of Sept in 09 after doing some other cool hikes at the Grand Canyon (S. Kaibab to Skeletons Point) & Sedona's Devil's Bridge - but I opted out of this 1 because my travel partner was not interested & I was scared (having some fear of heights.) I I would do it with you in an instant if you would be willing to do it again w/ me? :-)

  • legal!!!!

  • Did it when I was about 15, my brother being 5 years younger than me. Unless you can closely watch your kids, I wouldn't recommend bringing anyone younger than about 12 on this hike. Its steep, strenuous, and a little scary at the end. But if you can do it, you'll have a great story to tell, and its the most amazing view I've ever seen in my life.

  • The hike was open in winter when we went (Jan. 2008) and my friend chickened out at the scout landing one half mile from the top and I chickened out at the chains cause it was all ice under foot. I could not believe this hike was open with most of the trail covered with snow and ice!

  • excellent showing of almost all, but i missed walter's wiggle. that was the funnest part for me. did it over 30 years ago, and when i watched your video, couldn't believe i actually did this as i was absolutely terrified of heights. but my desire outweighed my terror and i made it to the top. good filming job. i enjoyed very much

  • I punked out and turned around at the start of that narrow ridge. All I could picture was a headline "Man dies on Angel's Landing during honeymoon".

  • I'm about to boycott Utah based on their racist drug policy. fuckin mormons

  • We also visited Zion National Park. It's a great place. Thank you for bringing back our memories.

  • Very cool! But the narrow ridge is super scary.. wow

  • nice video !

  • i just did this last week, i must say that it is one of the best hikes you can do in Zion. took me about 3 and a half hours to get up and down it.

  • 6:18 one brave man ..

  • amazing video, by far the best angels landing video out there. it was the scariest thing i have ever done in my life. Not only is the fall terrifying but the path was very crowded. The hike is deceptively far and will take a few hours like said in the video. I will never do it again, it freaked me out that much. Theres been 3 more casualties since this video was posted.

  • @psuboy9 yeah there have been additional fatalities... I freaked out just watching the video. I'll still to hiking the valley floor.

  • 3 to 4 hours

  • How much time does it need to get up and down?

  • @CherubicLynx If memory serves me correct, I believe it took me just under 4 hours round trip not including a scenic rest break at the top.

  • @beijingmike Thanks, so I'll try it out when I'm there ;)

  • 4 hours hahaha, roundtrip for me was about 1 hour 20 minutes, course I was trail running it and having the time of my life. I loved running down the narrow parts but the switchbacks were the most fun.

  • @CherubicLynx ?? 4 hourss? it took about 2 hours tops including a "scenic rest break" .. and we ate lunch at the top. not very long just very pretty and includes some danger

  • @bigcockedpenguin Well it rained that day, so we didn't go up there - unfortunately. Maybe I'll go to Zion again someday, then I'll defenitely take a picture from the top of Angels Landing ;)

  • can you do Angels landing and The narrows (not the 16 mile) in 1 day?

  • Perfect day for that hike. Super clear!

  • It was pretty crowded when I went, but a still blast to do. I certainly won't forget it.

  • Great hike. A must-do when in Zion NP. Jeeze lots of crowds that day. My favorite time is Oct.~ hardly a soul in sight!

  • this really is a spectacular hike. the hard part is going down...especialy if there's an entire boy scout troop going up while you're going down...

  • I NEED to come there!!!

Hope I have the chance in the near future...

    Thanks for this video!

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • Great video. Thanks for posting.

  • Don't know if I could do this hike all the way to the top. Heights bother me. But I'd be up for the challenge, though. Great video!

  • Did this Hike yesterday, yeah, a little ball shrinkage thats for sure, lol but It is really cool on top.

  • you're an idiot

  • Thanks for posting this. I quit this hike after the first set of chains. That was three years ago and I still wish to make another attempt. But I can see it simply gets even more exposed as you near the top. Thank you, again.

  • "Six people have fallen to their deaths in the past several years but my guess is your greater risk was the drive to the Zion National Park." If you figure 1 in 100 people who drive to Zion get to the top of this hike (instead of chickening out like me, or not trying in the first place), then 600 people would have had to die driving there in the last few years for this statement to be true.

  • on the last part where u start going up with the chains i went off the trail and ran all the way up and down

  • WTF...WHHHYYYYY !?!?!?!?

  • 2 people just fell off this hike today ):, My friend is at zion right now, two people slipped and fell. RIP

  • that guy at 6:10 really trusted you to not bump him or lose your footing. I love this hike. Just did it once, but will remember it forever as one of my best!

  • I just did this with my 13 year old son. It is NOT difficult provided you are not afraid of heights. The trick is get an early start and be done by 10am before the idiots and crowds take over. THEN the chance for accidents goes way up.

  • Great Video !

I want to do this climb in september. How long does it take to the top and what time should we start ?

  • it takes maybe 3 hours to go up and 1 to go down if you like to stop and take pictures. if you're in good enough shape and u don't stop, i bet you could get up there in 2. leave as early as possible.

  • I was there and I did it. So incredible - this place is absolutely beautyfull. Finaly we did it in 2.5 hours without rushing.

Can't wait to come again - unfortunately there are 6000 miles between me an Zion :(

  • I was just there on Tuesday, on Sunday a 55 year old Mother fell from the top while holding the chain on Sunday while she was with her family. So sad. Please don't bring your children on this one, I will never attempt myself (big chicken).

  • this trail is sooooooo scary! my boyfriend and i did most of the chain part but when we got to the last plateau where you look up and see the steep ascent to the top we had to turn around because we didn't have it in us. now finishing angels landing is on my bucket list

  • now go do observation point its about twice as long and twice as high its a great view of the park

  • me and my brother and our friend did it ^^

my parents chickened out a couple feet into it lol

anyone else carve their name into the sandstone at the end?

  • lol 7:37 its Harrison Ford!! haha

  • well filmed i myself juist got back from zion the grand canyon and brice canyon angles landing is easyer than it looks,is not good for people who are scaird of hights. opservation point is also a swell hike for a worthy adventurer

yes i know i cant spell...

  • Thank you for sharing that! I got vertigo and had to turn around but I know I've got it, my knee was killing me. I'll be back.

  • Great vid! I just returned from Zion - Angel's Landing was one of the best climbs I've done!

    Thanks!

  • that was a fun hike when i did it... its beautiful up there

  • Thanks for sharing.Great video, brings back memories. Angel's Landing and Paria Canyon were the most memorable hikes in my life.

  • i thought, because of terrorists threat everyone had to be strapped up in their seat by the cabin crew and the door to the pilots was shut close byt 11 inch thick doors. Also if you had to take a piss you needed permission from the crew and they had to unlock your seatbelt. I really hoped they improved flight security but alas...

  • Nice video, brings back fond memories. I have been there several times, and have even camped on the flat area just before the top. A first trip up there can certainly be a "knee-shaker". Incidentally, a nearby trail to the top of Lady Mtn. was closed many years ago because people would sometimes make it to the top, but then be unable to confront the "terror" of going back down the same frightening trail, thus necessitating an expensive rescue by the Park Service. There's nothing like Zion!

  • This is a great hike and I like the views of the drop off points in your video.

  • how do you overcome panic? i wish i could do this!

  • lol...dont look down...it was pretty crazy...i rockclimb and this was 10x scary...i had nightmares where i died for a week or two after...but alls fair in love (of big rocks) and war

  • Sept 2008...did this hike for the 5th time at 50 years old...with girlfriend who has really never hiked. She did fantastic, and I am so proud of her. Great video, good job! This hike is the bomb of all hikes!

  • well done. I live 20 miles from Zion and I hike angels twice a week. Its great to get to the top at about 7 pm with the silence and colors from the sunlight. Never stop at scouts, the hike is not as bad as it looks. You will be missing something special if you stop.

  • really good quality video Mike, I did the hike in 2000 and I've never forgotten it! It was amazing.

  • Was that guy some kind of silent zombie that you passed at 6:10? He was sort of standing there inches from the drop-off as you passed him.

  • Thanks for the video....well done.

  • That is a great climb. I did it 3 years ago. unfortunately there was a fatality 2 days before I went so you do have to be careful.

  • That is an awesome hike.

  • I like it. Good job of capturing the drop-offs. I did this hike last year and it was one of my all time favorites.
