Correction, I do not know the rest of the story but certainly Mark Reizen was never a widower. Rachel Anatolievna Reizen, his beloved wife, survived him by only six months. She rests with him under the same stone in the Vvedenskoe Cemetery. Her years are marked 1898-1993.

If somebody saw only death in this voice, welcome death!!

Those E natural are not, repeat NOT of a near death man.

Low notes are lost in relationship with Testosterone levels. Nothing you can do about it.

But the artistry and the meaning of a fully developped artist is magnificent. Makes me cry of joy.

Singing has so many different aspects to admire and flavor!! That is why we love it, isn't it?

I'm sorry, but despite his amazing voice and his perfomance, all I can hear is death, muffling him, as it were, from below, his singing is faded, cottony at times, as his spirit attempts to overcome his years.

i can't look away; but I can't deny the uncomfortable sense i get of watching a man die (of old age) right before my eyes. it seems morbid to sit and listen to the stifling of death wrapping his voice like a snake, slowly crushing it to grey buzz and murmur.

Can no one else hear it?

This great artist at 90 sounds much better than most 60 year olds or even much longer as the case may be. He sounds nothing like one in the throes of death.This artist embodies all that is great and glorious vocally.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! This man is 90 years old????? It make one want to go on and on, perfecting one's craft, whatever it may be. So many people waste their lives. I sang with Jerome Hines in his last opera performance. He played the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo. He was 80!! The video can be seen here on youtube.

This Mark Reisen recording is equally, if not more, amazing. An example of absolutely perfect technique in a beautifully preserved voice. This voice does not have any of the customary wobble of an older voice. It is rock solid and interpretive. WONDERFUL!
