Once I saw a man loosing his finger, just the "last part", and he put some kind of powder into the wound regularly, (I think it was extracted from a pigs stomach) and the finger grew back even fingernail.. It was amazing. I only saw it once, so I'm not 100% sure, but maybe you should look at it, and if you find it, maybe they can grew your finger back too. If I were in your situation, I would try, for sure.

I have been a Bass player for 8 years using the fingerpick style. while my finger was healing I learned to use my ring and baby fingers in tandem with the index. after my wound was healed I could quad pick using all four fingers (32nd notes). Not too many Bass players can say that. My injury helped me more than it hurt me.
