They did the same thing almost exactly in the US World of Disney show back in 79 or 80. No wolf or chase but the idiot destroyed the wrong car. Pissed me off back then as a kid.

Ok so here's the whole thing about why this caped stupor is destroying Herbie. The premise of the story was to show how whenever Herbie does a stunt in one of his movies the dent or crack or if he break anything would miraculously heal and be fixed in the next scene. Sadly he destroys the wrong car as this Herbie was the Werewolf's car and not real. Then the chase ensues to beat up the caped stupor for destroying wolfs Herbie.
