  • what is the song name in this video?

  • your nooosee.......0.0

  • @kazz1967306 I KNOW!! D:

  • pushing in your legs actually really really helps, i kept on forgetting about that when i started to skid like this. i'd be able to get it without pushing in but it'd just be harder...it acts like a wall that takes a lot of force that your pedal needs in order to move it.

i was at 46:17, geared up to 46:16 (current ratio) then will gear up to 46:15 and then i wanna gear up to 53:16..sounds like a plan to me

    good video man

  • @pinoixboi Sick dude! And yea, without pushing in your legs, there's not that much leverage. It's like trying to push a dresser with your legs when you don't have a wall to sit against.

Yea dude, 53 : 16 is nice but honestly dude, from my experience of riding 95+ gear inches for over a year, it's not worth it. Hahaha, it's fun and makes your legs huge but in the end, riding in the 85 range of gear inches is the best.

I honestly think that you should just skip the 46 : 15 and go straight to

  • @pinoixboi Actually, I take that back. Go to 46 : 15 and then after a month or two, gear up to 53 : 16. And THEN I think that you should just stay at that ratio, it's really nice. Not too heavy and not too light, right in the middle.

You're plan sounds good. :] I used to plan out my ratios like that.

  • @jdawg4334

my friend who used to just mash all over town told me he loved that ratio haha

it's only been like a week or so since i geared up and i'm already pretty used to it so i'll probably end up gearing up to 46:15 pretty soon...going to spin classes definitely beefs your legs up hahaha

  • @pinoixboi Yea dude, I just ride hills all day and that seems to have an effect on my legs. ;] And yea dude, honestly, it's not that big of a jump, 46 : 15 is manageable and I'm sure that if you did it right now, you'd be fine.

  • @pinoixboi And yea dude. That's a pure mashing ratio but hills wouldn't be terrible with it. I'm currently on 48 : 15 and I want to go to 50 : 15. Really close to 53 : 16.

  • @jdawg4334

The area here is pretty flat; not too many hills

i wanted to go with 53:16 since i kinda skid a lot, should probably run a brake later but it's whatever for now, cause with that ratio i'll end up with 16 skid patches...if i could skid both ways i'd have 32 so my tires won't wear out as fast, and they're pretty cheap tires like 15 bucks at Performance

i'd say they're pretty good for what i'm doing.

54:17 doesn't sound too bad either

  • @pinoixboi Yea dude. I have a 55t Sugino Zen and I hate not using it because I've wanted it for years! So I really wanna go to 55 : 17 which apparently isn't that different than all of the ratios we've been talking about. Hahaha.

And yea dude, with that ratio, not having a brake won't be that big of a deal and neither will tires.

  • @jdawg4334

55:17 actually sounds pretty good too! right in the middle of 53:16 and 54:17 haha and yeah tires won't really be much a problem since they'll be skidding in different spots a good majority of the time

where do you get your parts man? local shops? online?

  • @pinoixboi Online. I got the Zen off of tracksupermarket . com and payed WAYY too much for it. Get my frames locally, usually from friends. Thomson Elite always comes from Ebay, same with saddles. I buy wheels locally from friends also. I buy my cranks locally or form City Grounds, local fixed gear shop. And then depending on the bars, locally or off of Ebay.

So it's mostly locally and Ebay.

  • @jdawg4334

    i gotchu i gotchu

there's not too many bike shops here, one is a total ripoff with horrible customer service, and the other shop is mainly for fixed gear freestyle, nothing wrong with it it's just that it doesn't suit my needs haha

all my friends or people at my school are all into the tricking scene so...that doesn't really help either haha

Other than eBay and tracksupermarket, are there any other online stores that you recommend?

  • @pinoixboi citygrounds . com, bikeisland . com seems pretty good for some things, and that's all that I can think of. :/ And yea dude, there's a shop that does a lot of FGFS and City Grounds is both.

And yea dude, everyone is into the free style scene and I don't get it. I think that mashing and mashing bikes are just way cooler.

  • @jdawg4334

thanks dude i'll be sure to look at those sites sometime when i get some money for some new parts...could definitely use some hahaha

lol i always get made fun of by this one kid at my school simply because i'm not in the freestyle scene and i just wanna ride around everywhere haha. my friends always invite me to go "ride" with them which is just going to a spot and tricking there for an hour or so, cruise to another spot rinse wash and repeat...just not my forte.

  • @jdawg4334

doesn't bother me though i can outrace him and that's all that matters hahaha

  • @pinoixboi Hahaha, if he makes fun of you then he's an idiot. Hahaha.

But yea, I agree with you. :] I always let everyone talk because I know that if it was me, them, and 1000m, they wouldn't stand a chance. ;]

But yea dude, I remember back in my early days when I used to trick. I'd still kinda ride fast but just 3 or 4 miles to the trick spot and then hang with a bunch of free stylers. I didn't mind it either.

  • @jdawg4334

    seriously hahaha

the only reason why i don't go to with them is most of the people in the tricking game that i know are way too arrogant about it...it's ridiculous.

Just not a good vibe since everyone bashes on each other if they're new to the tricking game or if they're just a new "rider" in general

  • @pinoixboi Dude, are they seriously like that? Cause that's extremely... immature. Hahaha, jeez dude, sounds like a bunch of assholes.

  • @jdawg4334

16-17 year old dumbass high school kids...whaddya expect hahahaha

but seriously...exactly why i don't ride with them, just my other friends who just mash around town and whatnot. way more enjoyable

  • My gear ratio's 43'16, would I have to gear up? Or can I just leave it at that?

Oh and your video has helped me a lot, thank you:)

  • @Chaneneduck Hahaha, well, when it comes to learning how to skid, you should be fine with that ratio. If you ever get good at it and want to start riding a lot faster, than yea, you should get like, a 48t chainring or something.

  • @jdawg4334 Ahaha, alright. If I live around between Costa Mesa and Newport, which shop would you recommend?

  • @Chaneneduck Two Wheels One Planet, City Grounds, Cycle Werks.

  • @jdawg4334 Okay, will definitely check them out, haha thanks!

  • Nice tutorial man! learned to skid after watching this vid a couple times haha. Also, how is regular city riding with your disk cover? I heard side winds could be a bitch but I wanna slap one of em on just for looks lol.

  • @1rsn1 Sick dude! That's what I like to here!

And dude, the rear disc causes no problems at all! Now, if you were to ride a front disc or a front really deep wheel, THAT would create some slight complications. But in the rear, it's literally no problem at all.

The only thing that I'd warn you about is riding without hands on REALLY windy days. On really, it's fine in all other circumstances.

  • @jdawg4334 ahhh ok, so as long as the disk cover is in the back its good. Fa sho man! thanks a lot!

  • @1rsn1 Yes sir. :]

  • You know what they say about men with extra large cages...

  • @IndieGeekyGirl AHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Good video man, and hey fuck the haters.. tell they get an OG youtube name, they can't talk shit.

  • @guy Hahaha, thanks Guy. I really appreciate it when people help me out on YouTube.

And seriously? Your name is Guy? Hahaha, were you like, one of the first YouTube members ever? I've never seen a name so simple... So awesome!

  • Saddle angle is incorrect, bar angle is incorrect, your nostrils are HUGE, your frame sizing is inappropriately matched for your height, skidding is a hazard, and you should never ride a bike without brakes. God, hipsters these days....

  • @microsoft1234sam

god dicks that should really keep their mouth shut because they have never heard of if you have nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all these days.

  • @bombingguy33 Youre a fucking idiot, I know Jdawg4334 in real life, we're really good mates. I think that if you don't know the circumstances that lie behind a comment, then you should keep your mouth shut.

  • @microsoft1234sam

god mate chill simple mistake o.O

  • @bombingguy33 Hahaha, don't listen to him, he's an idiot.

  • @microsoft1234sam Hahaha, shut the fuck up! You're retarded.

  • damn... thts waaaay better!!!! thnx

  • i know u said no to give u any shit about your handle bars u changed but are those bull horns

  • @Lejawn Hahaha, dude, what you said isn't even going me shit. Hahaha.

And yes, they are bullhorns. Nitto RB-021 pursuit bullhorns.

  • hey man where did you get that disc cover from?

  • @shitdirtybricks Made them myself.

  • ima tryit... i live in santa ana lets ride sometime

  • @412homeofthaworks For sure! Message me!

  • Do you skid clipless? Ive been thinking to switch over to clipless cause my feet keep slipping out of my strap/clips. have you had the problem where your foot unclips while skidding?

  • @SigmaLuna Yea, like, less than 5 times in the last 6 months. It's honestly not that big of a deal and it's never happened while bombing a hill or anything like that.

But yea dude, one time I was riding up hill and as I pulled up on my strap while it was coming around, it slipped out of the cages and that's when I decided to go clipless and I absolutely love it! I highly recommend it.

  • Better

  • Thx for the tips I gotten beter at it

  • @LOTSOLOKS95 Sick dude! I'm glad that you've gotten better at it! :]

  • what brand is your back rim?

  • @AmericanPesos It's a stock IRO wheel with cardboard covers ziptied onto it. Hahaha.

  • Comment removed

  • where u from

  • @gladiatorbeastboy Costa Mesa / Orange County, CA; 92626.

  • @gladiatorbeastboy Costa Mesa; Orange County, CA.

  • Thanks dewd

  • wow... should get a helmet or breaks for the angle your bars are at Fyi

  • @lonnielegend85 Hahaha, annotations, my friend.

  • AOTP Seven...beast ass song

  • @TheUnwiseSpeaker That's why it's in the background. :]

  • what type of bike is that?

  • @sxcjuli0h It's an older IRO Mark V.

  • @jdawg4334 youre name is on the beginning of the tutorial lol

  • @alexpapadimitriou Ahhh, that makes sense. Hahaha.

  • strap on 0:55

  • you got a Zipp front wheel?

  • @LongFartz Nahh man, it's an H+Son Formation Face with Zipp 303 decals on it. Hahaha.

  • my legs are in that beastly mode :)

  • @carlos60697 Then skid foo! :P

  • can anybody help me im trying to get a fixed gear bike but i wanna know what are good ones and that arent to expensive! HELP! plz and thanky you

  • @byDanbo Hahaha, well, I probably can't help you because I spend thousands on my bike. Hahaha. If you want it to truly be nice, then you're honestly gonna have to be willing to drop a couple of bills on it.

But if you check craigslist and stuff, Mercier Kilo TTs are amazing bikes and I think that they make the best starter bikes! You should look into them! I wouldn't recommend anything else!

  • @byDanbo And you can get them for cheap too! My buddy got a really nice one for $210!

  • Comment removed

  • @nathantnnguyen1 Hahaha, if that's how you'd convert a road bike to fixed gear, I'll tell you right now that it won't work too well..

  • Comment removed

  • @nathantnnguyen1 But you were instructing someone else to do it? Hahaha.

  • 54:17, how's that sound in the mood to go a bit faster. just new to this ratio deal. The smaller the crank teeth the easier it is to mash, and the bigger the cog, the faster? Been reading around but everyone makes it sound so difficult.

  • @mrbocanegraw Hahaha, I love that ratio, heavy but not too heavy.

And here's all you need to know my friend.

Bigger chainring: harder to pedal; less rpms; higher top speed.

Smaller chainring: easier to pedal; more rpms; lower top speed.

Bigger cog: easier to pedal; more rpms; lower top speed.

Smaller cog: harder to pedal; less rpms; higher top speed.

  • Cool cool thnxs yo..

    .

  • @expiredperson Np homie.

  • I just picked up a retrospect fixie last week. Pretty much got the hang of it just want something that's good for cruising and doing skids and wheels every now and then. The crank is 48t right now. What would you recomend would be a reasonable crank set up.

  • @mrbocanegraw Sick dude! And do you mean what gear ratio you should run? Well, for the last several months, I've ridden 54 : 16, 54 : 15, 48 : 13, 55 : 15, and 48 : 15 (I rode 48 : 15 for the first time today) and honestly dude, after running sper high gears for a long time and all of the sudden trying a lower gear, I really forgot how nice and convenient a low gear is. So I'll definitely recommend in the 17t / 18t cog area. Maybe even 16t / 15t if you wanna go a little faster.

  • @mrbocanegraw But the 15t and 16t will make wheelies and skids harder to do.

  • The back wheel son tryn to do mines just dont have the know how ...

  • U shld post a vid on a how too that back wheel not everyone has mad cash around to spend ...jus a thought but as i was looking closer i can see some what were the zips are holding but not sure..either way nice job ...

  • @expiredperson The, the Zipp decals were... decals. Hahaha. 303 decals on my H+Son.

And yea dude, I've gotten so many requests to do it, I've just been lagging it! It'll happen soon though!

  • Word teach me ha ha nah but foreals how did u do it son??

  • @expiredperson What are we talking about again?

  • something looks wrong with the bottom part of your face..

  • @dope420kush It's my NOSEE!!! D:

  • My tires cost $70.00 each I always try to avoid skidding whenever I can.

There is nothing worse than riding a bicycle with a flat spot.

  • @johnRc1963 I totally agree with you man. I actually ride with a brake but now have a fork with no brake drilling so I've been eating through tires quick! It's annoying.

  • r u a scene kid?

  • @209Hai Hahaha, can't you tell? I didn't have any piercings, I wasn't 90 pounds, I didn't smoke a pack by the end of the video, I wasn't wearing fake Ray Bans with non-tinted lenses, I wasn't wearing a v neck that showed my belly button, I wasn't wearing a NeverShoutNever cardigan over that, and my hair wasn't dyed jet black with a can of hairspray used on it. Hahaha.

  • @jdawg4334 what rear rim do u have?

  • @jdawg4334 well ur not a scene kid?

    so ur a hipter! 0.0

  • @209Hai Hahaha, well, I'm not gonna create some crazy list of stereotypical characteristics of a hipster but I'm not a hipster. Let's just say that I never tried to eat the pizza before it was 'cool.'

  • @209Hai Hahaha, well, I'm not gonna create some crazy list of stereotypical characteristics of a hipster but I'm not a hipster. Let's just say that I never tried to eat the pizza before it was 'cool.'

  • I have been riding fixed gear bikes for 150 years and I can tell you this is incorrect.

  • @smith34n K.

  • @smith34n dude i need help what kinda fixed gear should i buy ? i never had one before plz answer

  • @Prox1015 Look at the Kona Paddy Wagon, it's a good fixed gear bike to start from. You can find them pretty cheap and you get a lot of bike for the price.

  • @smith34n i got money i dont worry to much about that i just need a bike for the streets cuz too much traffic here in LA so yeah you say that bike is good for that or wat?

  • @Prox1015 Yeah definately man, I use mine for commuting here in London, great bike for the city

  • what type of rim does he have on his back wheel?

  • @RVCALover2498 It's cardboard that I cut, painted, and zip tied onto my rear stock IRO wheel.

  • @jdawg4334 when you say wheel.. do u mean like spoke, the rim, or the tire?

  • what is the called on your back wheel? where can i get it?

  • @1000drboy It's some cardboard that I cut, painted, and ziptied to my rear wheel. I made it myself.

There are some plastic ones on Ebay though.

  • WHAT SONG IS THIS O.o

  • @iErnz1 It's Tear It Down : AOTP

  • That back wheel really made w card board?

  • @expiredperson Yes it is.

  • homo. stop torkin and skid ya plonka

  • @aniwaniwa I have no idea what you are talking about.

  • dose ur fixie go backwards

  • @xXJOJOMOJO1234Xx Yes, it's a fixed gear. All fixed gears can go backwards.

  • I don't need to look cool, My bikes has brakes.

  • @MOJONIXION Mine does too. :]

  • hey man, just wanted to say great video. who cares what everyone else says about anything, just keep it real man haha.

  • @MutinyBmxx Hahaha, thanks man, I'll definitely do that! :]

  • gotta love people encouraging "safer" ways to illegally ride your bike/stop in the perfect way to destroy your knees...

ps they make different pedal cage lengths for different size feet. draw an imaginary line from the center of your first metatarsal to your fifth metatarsal. that line sits on your pedal spindle.

  • @dillonmccarver Hahaha, I know, I know. But if you run brakeless, you've gotta do something right? I actually run with a brake now, so yea.

And yea, I know that the cage size is relative to your foot size, but when skidding, the deeper your foot is in the cage, the better the straps will grip to your foot, you get me?

But yea, I agree. Brakes all the way. Hahaha.

But I will disagree with the knee destruction. At least I'M fine... Hahaha.

  • @esemoose u gotta just stfu an give up .....you just look stupi

  • dude thanks alot now i know how to skid correctly 5 stars to jonathan!

  • @alexpapadimitriou Hahaha, thanks? How you know my name! D:

  • @jdawg4334 he maybe seen you around man or friend

  • @Babeandme1996 I'm sorry but I don't know what you're talking about.

  • Nose like a pig, hair like JB, -__-

  • @RoastedChickenTV You know it son!

  • all i could stare at was his nostrals

  • @Akrynsky1 :D

  • i bet you dont even use the velodrome which is what your bike is for stupid kid

  • @esemoose I don't get how people like you could lack so much common sense...

  • @TheCheesyCheesus hey cheesycheesus fixed gears are designed for constant elevation, not hills, they belong on the velodrome with dropped bars, its an actual sport not a hobby fool, its called track cycling, watch it sometime, london olympics this year, cant wait, chris hoy all the way

  • @esemoose Haha, this bike has road geometry dude; it's not meant for the track. I have a Planet X track frame now; THAT bike is meant for the track and I ride it at the Home Depot center a couple times a week.

  • @jdawg4334 now the planet x bike you definately dont deserve hahaha, im sorry man, youre just a kid with no respect for the sport, to you its just a nice bike, im guessing you dont have a nice car

  • @esemoose No, I don't have a nice car. Cars are pointless when you're someone like me (doesn't have to commute 50+ miles a day) so getting a nice one would be even more pointless. And to me, it's not just a nice bike, it's a bike that will not hold me back in terms of my improvement. It's an investment that will hold it's end in the bargin later in life. I have pride, dude. I'm not gonna ride this piece of crap 700 dollar and feel like I didn't half ass myself. I believe in always going all out

  • @esemoose so having a nice bike has to do with my characteristic of being the best; succeeding with quality; not settling for a B+; I have to have the A. You feel me?

I'm not just some kid who gets a nice bike and shows it off. I love cycling, I've been cycling for 3 years now, I ride a couple hundred miles a week and take classes at the Home Depot center. I'm actually serious about cycling dude, it's a lifestyle for me and I'm never going to give it up.

I have respect for my authorities and

  • @jdawg4334 a tour de france stage is 60 miles and youre cycling 100 miles a week? you definitely have to pick it up

  • @esemoose I said a couple hundred miles a week. And uhh, I'm 18, I'm not planning on doing the Tour De France any time soon, let alone at all.

  • @esemoose tour de france is in mountains... 60 miles is nothing on flats

  • @DestroyTheseWalls paris is a mountain?

  • @esemoose Pyrenees is where true winners show themselves, Lance Armstrong, Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck, Cadel Evans.... first 12 stages are there so sprinters dont feel left out..... Do you even follow ProTour cycling? All GCs involve monsterous climbs....the Giro, Tour de France... you could list all the climbs all day.....smartass

  • @esemoose for myself, you don't know anything about me, guy.

  • you dont deserve that bike

  • @esemoose Hahaha, although I use a brake, I'm pretty sure that I'm still better than you. And btw, that bike is a piece of crap; you're right, I don't deserve it.

  • @jdawg4334 btw, with the exception of your idiotic bars, that bike is a majesty, the geometry isnt great but its still a fast bike and that disc wheel and 50 mm (is it 50mm?) deep v only makes it faster, youre an idiot and ignorant to think your bike is "a piece of crap," i think it is you who are just slow

  • @esemoose Pay attention to the video, I said that I changed the angle shortly after the posting of this video. I was just trying to copy Jason Maggied.

And yes, the geometry was terrible.

That disc is made out of card board and that front wheel (42mm) is an H+Son Formation Face.

That frame retailed for 200, the back wheel was worth 50 and the front was worth 150, and I had Sugino Messengers on it. It was a shit bike. You must have a terrible bike if you think that it's nice.

  • @jdawg4334 i reached 40 mph on a 1981 miyata road bike, be grateful is what im saying you spoiled kid, its still a marvelous bike, and my bike is priced comfortably at 700 so dont you worry about me, and 22 mph, im sorry to say is not an acceptable speed for the exceptional cyclist that you say you are

  • @esemoose And I reached 47mph with my Planet x. And I'm spoiled? That's pretty funny because I work and have payed for every single thing on my bike myself.

And yes, I know that 22mph is bull crap. I'd like to see you keep up anything faster than that on 46 : 17 for 40 miles, it's very difficult; hence, my higher ratio that I commute with.

  • @esemoose My Planet X retails for 1000, I have Mavic Ellipses which go for 600, I have Sram Omniums with a 55t Sugino Zen chainring, I have Profile Cobra Wing base bars with Profile Design ZBS straight aerobars, a full carbon saddle, a Super Toughness chain, and Dura Ace PD-7900 pedals. Compared to my current bike, this bike was worthless.

Keep acting like you know everything, my man. People who know how to skid like this video have been around for a while and mean business...

  • @jdawg4334 haha youre fucking ridiculous with your 55 teeth hahaha, i cant believe you even confessed that to me, how many teeth do you have in the back? im really curious to know.. i cyclist in the san diego track cycling association you idiot, i STUMBLED across your video, you want to learn how to ride.. find your nearest velodrome, join their team and race as speeds well over 30 mph.. it seems the track bike has lost its meaning with people like you

  • @esemoose Uhhmmm, dude, I already told you that I race the Home Depot center a couple times a week. And I actually don't spend 90% of my time on the Apron like how you probably do. And I don't need a track to ride at over 30 mph, I already do that on the streets.

  • @esemoose And I ride 55 : 15. Why can you not believe that I confessed that to you?

  • @jdawg4334 thats a ridiculous ratio, can you name me one professional cyclist that rides with that ratio?

  • @esemoose I'm pretty sure that most professional cyclists ride several different ratios. I haven't met one serious track rider without a 13 - 17 cog and 48 - 53 chainring. A lot of track cyclists that I know do pursuits with 95+ gear inches. It's not the ratio, it's the inches that ratio produces and at 97 gear inches, it's not that uncommon.

And why would it even matter, am I supposed to do every single little thing that the pros do?

  • @esemoose Fast bike! Hahah, didn't you hear my ratio? I'd spin out at 22mph with that ratio!!

  • I think the reason why not many people skid is because it will wear out the rear tires quickly.. I do skid from time to time, but I usually choose not to..

  • @imranbecks Exactly the same with me. I actually have a brake. Fuck using strength to slow down!

  • @jdawg4334 fuck breaks fool

  • @esemoose Fuck poor spelling.

  • TECHNIQUE! TECHNIQUE! TECHNIQUETECHNIQUETECHNIQUE!!!

    -spongebob

  • @TheHans2526 ;]

  • dont yoir wear out

  • @MrLngboarder I'm sorry but I do not understand what you are talking about. Is it, "but don't your tires wear out?"

If that's the case, then yes, they do. I don't skid very often because it's a waste of my tires!
