  • First of all, thank you for not playing slap. Recording a DI signal is a good idea - I ran the audio from this video through my reamp box into the amp I use to get a real taste of what the bass could sound like through my own rig. Very cool.

  • @chevyvan10 - Cool! Thanks!

  • aint no other worthy contender, for a good ol fender. :)

  • best p bass i ever played

    neck is thin as nuts

  • I like at the end he just goes "I like this bass."--pppfffff

  • precisions always sounded a bit planky to me give me a 70's jazz or a ricky 4001 any day

  • are you guys based in NY?

  • @shardapes Hi - No, we are in Austin, Texas.

  • This thing is really sweet. Took a plunge and got one online. Most beautiful P bass I've ever seen, you really need to see it in person though. Neck feel is pretty much like the modern P bass. I own an actual 1979 fretless P and it's much chunkier, but non the less this thing has the very warm tone right out of the box, something that usually takes years to obtain on new instruments. It feels awesome, sounds awesome, and looks killer. Like it much more than the American made P basses.

  • hey dudes, it would be cool if you do a review of some tube bass amps......peace

  • @overdriven77 We are planning on doing so - thanks!

  • Radial Pro-DI direct into the Canon video camera. The sound is all bass!!!

  • What amp are you using ? Sounds amazing !

  • How would you campare this to the highway1? They look pretty similar. You dont have to give bridge comparison because many don't like badass......many do.

  • How would you compare the neck shape to that of a modern american standard P bass?

  • Hi - that's mostly true. There were a few made with Block Inlays in binding in the '70s. You can find them in some of the Fender books and I ordered a couple for customers back in '75 ~ '76. But, you're right - they were never a catalog item. Fender calls this the "Fender P-Bass they should have made as a standard model". It's still a great bass - made in the same factory as your Geddy!!

  • The only thing i dislike about this bass is the block inlays, Don't get me wrong, they look awesome, i have a Geddy Lee jazz bass with them, its just not very accurate to the actual 70's p basses, none of them had block inlays... :/

  • If I ever buy a bass, this will be the one.

  • Sorry guys BUT fender already had 70's series Precision Bass also made in Japan but with rosewood fingerboard and dots. Actually there weren't any original P-basses made with block inlays on a maple neck not even in the 70's. This product seems really fake to me couse it's a re-issue of a non existed bass. Smells like a marketing trick from Fender. Peace.

  • @RockBassTv Εven so it might be, seems to be an amazing bass, whenever I do not mind ...

  • i wish i had the money to travel out to this shop, sucks to be in england at times

  • it is very interesting, a comparison of this bass with the American standard P-Bass. One has your view;

  • Could you do some videos on the new Modern Player basses? Fender did a J-bass with a couple humbuckers I believe, I'd love to hear the tone of that but my local GC hasn't got any of the new fender models in yet :( They also have a Tele p-bass with two humbuckers I believe, and a jaguar bass with two split coil p-bass pickups and a jazz bass pickup at the bridge. I really want to hear those!

  • A lot of people play without a pick, with the tone control all the way down. Could you add this to your demo on youtube?

  • Fender P basses are like drugs. Now I have to go and get me one of these.

  • this is going to be my next bass!

  • looks sexy!

  • btw very sweeet review, youve got a new subscriber

  • Come on Fender let see an all black P with the block inlays! Sounds awsome!

  • such a nice instrument

  • bought one yesterday, an amazing bass. mine is Olympic white

  • cant decide this or the 50s one.

  • It's a standard Fender gloss finish. So, it is not satin or matte, but not shinier than other new basses.

  • This is only a bridge through design - normal bridge. Just like the old days!

  • Quick question (im gana order one quite soon) but is this a through body for the strings? Or just normal bridge?

  • These are block inlays and binding, not painted on. These are really great basses!!

  • @bassemporium Thanks for telling me! I really wanna try one of these out.

  • @bassemporium Is it really that glossy?

  • I love the sunburst version! Like the reissue Jazz basses... thanks for a great review, and demo :) Are they block inlays, or are they painted on?

  • @Rockerdog

Since there haven't been any Japanese P-Basses (split-coil) made for the North American market in quite a few years, I have to assume it's a new pickup. I'm not really sure, though. The great sound of this bass is more about the body wood and neck construction than the pickups anyway. As for the trade, just give me a call here at the store and we can talk about the pro's and con's.

  • Hey man What do you know about the pickups? Are they the same as all the other p-basses made in japan, are the new, vintage what can you tell me about them? Because I'm really considering trading one of these for my american special. Is it a good idea?

  • I love the block inlays and bound neck...

  • aww I want one, can't decide if I want the white or sunburst

  • Wow, a music store specializing in basses? Gawd, would kill to have one of those around me...

  • @SuperGuy344 Dangerous thing for the bank account ;-)

  • @SuperGuy344 in the netherlands there is one only for basses and they have everything!!! (pauls bassmatters in nijmwegen)

  • yeah convinced me, good review!

  • I'd love one ! Looks great and sounds fantastic

  • oooh block inlays on a P bass!

digging these reviews guys! great job!

  • @whoapower Yep I'm loving the look of the blocks and binding. I've got an original 74 and blocks were definitely not an option back then so Fender haven't stayed true to the original. No problem though.
