Lick of the week lead guitar Gypsy Jazz swing Django Reinhardt style manouche

Why are people questioning if Gypsy Jazz is done with a pick or not? Django always played with a pick, but I admit that I haven't invested much time in any of the other performers of that style. Does anyone know if Gypsy Jazz is done fingerstyle?

If you want the ending of the riff to be easier, just use the 9th, 10th and 12th fret on the B string for the last three notes. :)

Ok, this is just awesome. Gypsy jazz is so rhythmic. Even the leads in gypsy jazz have the rhythmic feel, unlike mindless shredding that so many guitarists like to participate in. This has a nice feel to it and it stays with the beat.

@burnindownthehouse not saying your wrong, but dont slate other guitarist's techniques, i'd take shredding over this any day but it wont stop me learnin abit of this, the end of the day if you rule techniques out of your playin, you'll never be a real musician or guitarist

This video would be so much more informative if he actually explained what the lick is, that way you could apply it in other situations, rather than just learning the fingering. It's actually a really simple lick, just an A triad arpeggio with an upper neighbor and leading tone to each chord tone, with a quick ii - V - i at the end.
