It's more likely the compression of my original recording or YouTube's re-compressing of the video rather than the actual bios displaying actual errors.

Has this version of the BIOS (i.e., the Japanese Mega CD2 BIOS, not the European PAL version) been dumped for use in emulators?

So, how did people who owned a Sega CD go about updating the firmware when a new version became available?

You can't update the firmware on a Sega or Mega CD unit. The different versions of the bios you're seeing are all from different versions of the hardware.

The music and graphics at the startup were the most noticable, everything else just had to do with the newer hardware additions. If you look over the rest of my Sega/Mega CD Bios videos you'll see what I mean.
