  • worst poet on the last day of 1879 and wont be remembered for a very long time!

  • My Creative Writing teacher read this poem to us. It was hilarious, mostly because of the accent he read it with.

  • good poem

  • Lines from another McGonagall epic, written on the occasion of Queen Vics Golden Jubilee

"For she has been a good Queen and not a bad

Which if she had it would have been sad'...

  • this is sacred dundonian words , you must delete this video ! EU law states this must be read ina deep dundonian accent , sorry but you pronounce "tay " to soft and southern !! and you cannot read poetry ! . think of the surroundings where william read these , in a pub noisy n full of mill workers , jeesh . lol

  • It shouldn´t be read with an English accent.

  • very well read, one thing about that McGonagall, he wrote about the news of the day and seems like he was quite well informed, for all that and all that.......know what I mean? Again, I'd like to compliment your reading of this, you gave it life and I enjoyed it for what it was, thanks!

  • Hi Peter, thanks for your kind feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :D

  • dude that poet is shit ..!

  • PS - I loved the 'poetic' comments here as well.

  • Well read, Bryan! I've laughed till I wept over McGonagall. He'll never be forgotten.

  • Pome by William McGoonagal: Ode to Sol Campbell-

-Ooh to be a Goon!, 'twas the mighty Sol Campbell toon!

To hang around any longer I'd be a Loon, I'll have to make my move per-etty soon, (after I've eaten this macaroon)

It did not fill Spurs with glee, to see their finest off-P, on a free T',

    to their enemy,

for not even half a new penny, in transfer fee, (tee-hee!)

    respect WMcG

  • As a Gooner, I'm feeling those mellow lines. 8)

  • A-men.

  • LOL, I love McGonagall's stuff! XD

  • He's the G. Of Nineteenth Century Scottish poetry, that is.

  • Riiiiiiiiiiight...

  • This man should be remember throught time immamorial, many a silent tear has fell on my part fae the memory o' the man.

  • You skipped lightly Brian over this poem whose metre and sensibilities are as heavy as two central girders, very enjoyable

  • Cheers. I tried to read it as well as it could be read.

  • Again, your voice is superb for poetry reading, and your inflection perfect. I found myself wishing this dreadful poem were longer!

And I really like the fanfare!! ;->)

  • I agree with moorerandi your rendition is beautiful. Great voice and inflection

  • Thanks a lot. Much appreciated! :D

  • say what you will of the poet, you're rendition is beautiful. thanks!

  • Hey, cheers, glad you liked it. :D

  • :D :D :D :D This poem did the trick, in the automn I am off to Scotland.

  • Cool! Where you off to? Not the Tay, I hope! :O

  • Nope, where exactly I don't know yet but I will keep this poem on my mind.

  • Keep Burns' "Ode To a Haggis" or whatever it's called in mind too!

  • The last verse has to be one of the greatest finales in all English poetry. :D
