  • WEARING A MASK FAMILIAR! A GOD FORCED HIMSELF ON YOU, RAPING AND IMPREGNATING, CAUSING THE EXILE OF YOUR LIFE!!!!!

  • Like Callisto to star to heaven!!

  • Travis was a great drummer.

I am have been re-listening to trivium.

I am gonna learn the Ascendancy and Crusade albums on drums. it should be fun!

  • People defended travis because he was in the band already and people were scared of change. Then they gave nick a chance and realized he is much more skilled

  • COULD SOMEONE PLEASE FUCKING EXPLAIN TO ME WHY WHEN TRIVIUM ANNOUNCED THAT TRAVIS WAS GONE ALL I WAS READING IN COMMENTS WAS THAT TRAVIS IS THE BEST AND NOW A YEAR LATER I READ THAT HE WAS NOT THAT GOOD OF A DRUMMER AND TRIVIUM IS BETTER WITHOUT HIM??????????????? I REALLY DONT GET IT...ANYWAY TRIVIUM 4 LIFE..IN WAVES IS REALLY AWESOME BUT CANT SAY ITS THEIR BEST ALBUM

  • @cobgab Well problem with him is he just didn't want to play live anymore (no motivation). Im still a Travis fan as I still don't think Nicks done anything great compared to Travis yet. Only song I like that came out of the new line up is just Shattering. The drumming in that song isn't like god like or anything so i like it but it just suited the song very well. Other than that Travis ftw

  • @KrankItVZ yeah man glad to read that..travis was and still is awesome...

  • @KrankItVZ Dude finally, someone that agrees. Too many people have a boner for In waves and Nick and the new style. Nick is a good drummer, but I agree that the creativity and the bigness that Trivium was i gone. SHattering was awesome. EVerything else was a big step backwards .

  • @Colton527 yea... to me i only liked the album for the vocals, thats about it. Rest was so so. I expected much more cuz they spent like 3 years on it but still just got something so normal.

  • @KrankItVZ Yea completely agree. It was what.... a year and half after The Crusade they released Shogun? HUGE step in just a year. You'de think with a an extra year and a half they would topple if not Match SHogun. Personally I think it's like a Samson type ordeal. Matt still had hair when shattering was written. He cut it before the writing Process for In Waves. :'(. Rest in peace. That and have you noticed that when they play anything from SHogun now its tuned down?

  • @Colton527 Yea they're playin half step down to make it easier for matt. id say hes perfectly fine in the normal tunings so no actual need to go down. some songs turn really weird when its tuned down.

  • @KrankItVZ Matt's vocals are better than ever why would he need to tune down? and yes Down from the sky's intro sounds less awesome tuned down.

  • @Colton527 i agree with that especially about down from the sky

  • ever time i look at travis he reminds me of travis barker playing metal

  • Miss this guy :( Practically the main reason I started to listen to Trivium

  • @KrankItVZ Same :(

  • miss travis so much, I dont like the new guy its not the same charisma

  • like calisto to a star in heaven minut: 2:02

  • Like callisto to a star in heaven

  • They are both good drummers. I like Nick more though, I think Travis was a bit boring, nothing speciel about his drumming. I think Nick is better and he is gonna put something new into Trivium, listen to "In Waves" their new song, fucking awesome!

  • @ngroennebaek Are you deaf? Travis is so much more talented than Nick, It's a fucking shame that they don't have him anymore. I have a feeling that they were paid by Nick's rich uncle to kick out Travis and pick up Nick so he can play his typical drumming. :/

  • @thagr8c0rnh0li0 Travis might not have been a better drummer, but his style definitely was more unique than Nick's. Nick was in a death metal band, and their drumming style is usually the same, not saying it's bad at all. I think we should give Nick a while, then judge him.

  • Travis was tight and groovy, somewhat boring and crappy live. Nick is thrashy, a beast and can take Trivium to a higher level right now. From what I've seen he's better live too. It's not a competition, but if it was: Nick would win simply because of Shattering The Skies Above, to me, their most awesome song to date.

  • @Direksone agreed that Travis kinda lost the passion to play and Nick is just full of energy. As for shattering idk what to say. tbh the drums aren't the most interesting bits but it just worked with the song cuz of the intensity. but if the whole album were to hav that kinda drumming idk what to think. we'll have to wait until the album in august to see what happens (seriously, fkin august? so long)

  • @KrankItVZ Nick thought it would drop in July;) but yea Nick matched the song perfectly, no it would get boring if it would be the whole album but that wont happen. Shattering wouldnt have been this intense if Travis was drumming it, thats what I feel atleast.

  • this is callisto right?

  • Travis is no where near as good as Nick. Shattering was awesome as fuck.

  • @kyliothegreat Agree. Tho I like Travis kinda groovy rythms, but Nick is what Trivium needs right now. He's a beast live as well.

  • @kyliothegreat

Dude, as much as I hate to say it because I love Trivium, shattering SUCKED.. It's was a complete, generic disappointment. Also, saying Nick (a GRINDCORE DRUMMER? Really?!) is better than Travis?? You don't even deserve to listen to this band.

  • @Stigma1990 generic? it's fucking metal, what else do you want? and Nick kicks the shit out of Travis. Trivium knows it too, that's why they got rid of him and got Nick instead, Travis had a few beats he really abused, now we can hear some more variety.

  • @kyliothegreat

I suppose, if you call blast beats variety.

  • @Stigma1990 Listen to the drumming during the solo at 2:35 in Shattering The Skies Above and tell me that that's not some interesting drumming - definitely not just blasting. Travis wouldn't do anything like that. I like Nick just as much as Travis, they're both great drummers with different styles. What would you prefer, that Trivium just broke up when Travis left?

  • Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven!!!!

  • could some one tell me why travis isn't with trivium anymore?

  • @ryan4951 Believe it or not, but I went to see Hellyeah on February 26th, and Travis was there. He said he's actually living in Dallas now, and still playing drums, and started a side project, but didn't go through with it. He was very and still ishurt by it, and you can tell he's very sensitive about it. Matt's Dad, the manager of Trivium, suggested they find a new drummer because he wasn't good enough. So they kicked him out and told him they wanted a better drummer.

  • @KingFrantic I just want to say that I dont believe that because Matt's dad is with Trivium from a long time and HE had to see how Travis good is... not just good brilliant.. Travis had even played in orchestra on snare and I think this is why he has so fucking awesome rhytms on tomtoms and floortoms..(i am drummer too). He can play so fast and I saw sometimes on youtube opinions that he cannot play same like on record, but these are lies.

  • @Michput I swear on everything I'm not lying. I'm gonna send you a pic of my and Travis after the show if that helps.

  • @ryan4951 The whole getting married thing is true, but it's a cover up from Trivium that they just harshly kicked him out because he still wanted to play. He doesn't speak with any of the members anymore. I told him don't give up, and keep going because a lot of people out there miss him. It was really sad though, he was literally like "I know I'm a good drummer, I'll show anybody anytime!", like they had put some sort of denial in his head. I personally like Travis a lot better!

  • @KingFrantic thats pretty gay he's a good drummer there new guys not too great..

  • @ryan4951 His style doesn't fit Trivium as well. Sure he might be a little faster and use blast beats, but the feel isn't the same, and not in a good way, plus Travis' kit looks cooler lol

  • @KingFrantic I play in band too and 10 years is most of time not only friendship but sometimes family too! My guitarist is my best friend and for me something like that would be terrible :((

  • @KingFrantic Thank You very much. I don't know how to exactly thank You because my english isn't as good but I just want to say that I believe You and it is huge huge change, because Trivium is my favourite band and Travis is my favourite drummer and I thought it is lie that they kicked him. I thought Travis would like to spend more time with family or something becuase it happens offen. IT is still my favourite band but It is for me terrible that they kicked him out after 10 years! --->

  • @Michput Yeah dude, he really did get married, but he didn't want to quit playing.

  • @ryan4951 I don't think what people said have been entirely accurate on what they've been saying. I'm not saying I know for sure, but I doubt Matt's dad, Brian, would have suggested booting Travis purely to "look for someone better". Several reasons for this, one is that Travis is obviously very good.

Also, Matt got married to Ashley Ann, whom he fell in love with since at least high school.

For reasons not disclosed (the band members insist they don't really know as to why),

  • @PruneProductions Travis didn't sit in the second leg of the "Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour" tour in 2008-9. The original plan was to temporarily replace Travis. The new sound, along with the reported

  • @PruneProductions "falling out" in the band since at least the Crusade album, their 3rd studio album, seems to be the cause of Travis' unfortunate leave.

While I think Nick is a decent drummer and can certainly play, I will still dearly miss Travis and the amazing beat he gave to all the songs he played.

Here's to Travis, his health and future and to Trivium's future. May the all make more awesome music.

  • fucking badass

  • "Like callisto to a star in Heaven" bad ass song

  • @The666slipknot555666 No he does not use triggers.

  • @NickAugusto13 Yeah, I just laugh when i see that it makes you go faster.

  • @NickAugusto13 Definitely, even using triggers isn't "cheating" everyone does it lmao. Makes you work harder cause if you mess up it's gonna be a full bass hit in recording.

  • @NickAugusto13 Triggers are just for a constant dynamic (volume) and processed just cleans up the bass and what ever else you want. It's kind of like guitar effects, but for drums, like check out Chris Adler from Lamb of God-Contractor drums only video, around 2:33 is a good example for processed bass and heck, a full drum set under studio effects.

  • @NickAugusto13 Basically enriched and EQed, guy below me hit it right on the head, it's just processed bass. Sounds better.

  • New drummer is so sloppy compared to this :/

  • 0:02

the best drum roll in like callisto in a star in heaven

  • @metalhead7369 I would marry that roll if I could from Like Callisto.

  • @Calibur43 haha bro same :P i would have sex with it if it was a hot chick :P

  • @JamesTheExplorer who dont know it was like callisto lol

  • prince demon

  • @JamesTheExplorer got it lol

  • AWESOME sounding kit.

does anyone know the specs of those drums?

  • @OfficialDrumsNdSkate ddrum usa custom (black finish) 24x20 kicks (2), 8x7, 10x8, 12x9, 14x10, 16x16, 18x16 toms. 14x7 Travis Smith Sig. Snare (discontinued), Ahead Sig. Drumsticks, Aquarian Heads, Sabian Cymbals. AAX Stage Hats 14", AAX X-Plosion Crash 17 & 19", HH Power Bell Ride 22", Paragon Chinese 19", AAX-Xtreme Chinese 19" (x2), HHX Evolution O-Zone Crash 20", HHX Evolution O-Zone Crash 18".

  • @startrooper64 Oh, thanks!!!

  • damn those drums sound good

  • I loled at the guy who said Nick cant keep up. The guys a grindcore drummer, he seemed bored half the time when I saw them.

  • in my oppinion there new drummer sounds a lot like travis

  • @metalguitarguy95 if you really dissect them both there are actually enormous differences but at face value they're not totally different but some fans that have heard Triviums songs over and over again and now the drum parts by heart. realize there are many unique things that Nick doesn't bring to the table.

  • @metalguitarguy95 Uhh, no shit... nicks only been playing stuff travis wrote except for shattering... nicks techniques are good but all I could tell from his playing is *BLAST BEATS*.

  • throes of perdition

  • I have exact same kit!!! sounds awesome with emperors and embassadors

and pinstripe on the bass drum's using dw 9000 series hardwear pedal's

and stands. Travis is an awesome drummer met him at download 06.

HE WILL BE MISSED. afslodn!!! buffalo billy style

  • travis was a good drummer, but solely imo, i think he was a little weak and lacked that what i like to call "f**king energy". he was too groove, groove is good but when its overworked it can be disastorous. i think that once nick settles down he can be an ace drummer, just give him a chance, hes only done one song with trivium and lets face it maruta sucked anyway. makes me laugh how all these "im too metal for trivium" all of a sudden love maruta when a member joins trivium

  • Like Callisto To A Star In Heaven!!!!! FUCK EPIC :D

  • When next album?

  • Like Callisto To A Star In Heaven!

  • stop all the hating on nick I bet he could play 5x better than travis WHILE he's banging your mom

  • @jonthyz if his moms his overused blastbeats then yes, yes he could

  • His has an awesome sounding kit!

  • I agree, Trivium need Travis. He "designed" their songs like all of them do. They define each other.

  • Anybody know what snare he's using? That things sounds sexy.

  • @BFMVdrummer well at that time it was his Signature 14X7 Travis Smith Signature DDrum Snare......

  • why did travis leave? he is such a good drummer.

  • come on guys i love travis to death and in my mind he is the best drummer metal has ever seen but still i think nick is really sick and should be more respected, i mean he didnt like purposly try to replace travis and hes doen the best he can for the band so come on.....long live trivium

  • @lethalweapon111 so true.

  • Like callisto

  • Come Back Travis Smith! Nick Augusto looks like all the other different band members that mean shit to us! Plus he looks like he have autism

  • oh nvm fuck its just shogun i was getting excited

  • whats the new album???

  • lethalweapon111 I could not agree more man thats exactly what i thought.. fuck the new guy travis smith was a huge part of what trivium was!

  • his bass drum sounds so punchy and aggressive, sick

  • I'm gonna miss this sound so much from Trivium. Travis was totally unique with his own style while the new guy is just a typical fucking metal drummer.

  • @lethalweapon111 Travis was a tank, unique and talented, but Nick has brought the intensity back, its amazing!

  • @lethalweapon111 agreed. The new guy has no dynamics at all, his beats and fills have no feeling to them. couple that with the fact that he uses bass drum triggers because unlike travis he can't keep even remotely even dynamics on the kick drum when playing fast (and trust me, I saw him live). now stylistically, it's an opinion which you prefer but that fact is that travis is a much more capable, versatile, creative, & talented drummer. its a true loss bcuz Travis is by far the best in metalcore

  • @lethalweapon111 I think there both good, the new guy used to play grindcore so I think he has alot to bring to the table. Have you heard Shattering the Skies Above? Pretty fucking awesome.

  • @chelseagrin66 Its the exact reason why I love Nick more, judging on Shattering, a more thrashy sound, he'll bring Trivium even higher with a newer sound on album V.

  • @lethalweapon111

I agree yet disagree. They are both unique in my opinion yet they fall under the same sort of uniqueness. Listen to In Waves, new song. Doesn't the drumming sound like Trivium?

  • @lethalweapon111 Travis was too simplistic. he stuck to basic beats that just didn't fit. Nick adds so much more into the music with a lot better beats that aren't so boring. glad they ditched lars ulrich 2.

  • @lethalweapon111 dude nick is actually not just a metal drummer, both actually have the same style, just travis is better though.

  • No triggers used. It's a good sounding kit. I really like the cymbal sound. Those Sabians are mean. This is a part from Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven for sure. Too bad Travis is no longer with the band :(

  • @ragzy02 The bass is not triggered but sampled.

  • @ragzy02 u sure? No Trigger :0?

  • @ESPltdvb400 I don't think there's any way to be 100 percent sure for the kick drum because you can't see it, but in the Shogun DVD, you can see that there are no triggers on any of the toms or snare. With modern recording technology, it's fairly simple to get his kick sound without triggering methods. I can do pretty well in my bedroom with my Presonus firewire interface.

  • @ragzy02 yes !! ...i agree !

  • Changed

    Like Calisto

    FUCK YEAH

  • he doesnt use triggers in the studio though he only uses them live :P so the bass drums are the ear sex :P and i agree haha

  • f*ck yeah!

  • I bet it's like Callisto to a star in heaven :D

  • wearing a mask familiar

a god forced himself on you

    raping and impregnating

causing the exile of your life!

  • everytime i see this comment I laugh. I agree though, what a sound!!

  • actually i think at this time he had split with ddrum and was using DW kits so he might not have been using his signature snare drum. Anyone know why he split with ddrum?

  • lol i read: " he is the best drummer in the wood"

  • WOOD?

  • like callisto to a star in heaven

    great song

  • damn i was gonna say that but you beat me to it.

  • what snare drum is this

  • /watch?v=PJAZs_7GG0s ,a plus for metalheads.

  • its so kool when you sync it with the song ^_^

  • HOW DO YOU GET THAT BASS DRUM SOUND? Someone please tell me

  • its the size of the bass drum isnt it, and like what type of pedal you actually use

  • I think you mean using TRIGGERS

  • that's like callisto to a star in heaven, isnt it?

    i love this song..

    travis is great :D:D

have an autograph from him !!

  • yes it is like callisto to a star in heaven

  • yeah it is callisto

  • There isn't any triggering in this. Nothing is fast enough to need to trigger anyway. I don't know why you guys are trying to blasphemise Travis.

  • He uses triggers on his kicks, but nothing else

  • This is clearly a blended signal, triggers yes, but also a mic on every piece and room mics and overheads. They look like Royer R121 ribbons but I'm not sure. These drums actually sound amazing. These are tight metal drums. Amazing engineering. Listen to a metal record.... these are how metal drums 'should' sound.

  • Nahh dude, Thats exactly the same as saying people use KEYBOARDS because they can''t get the right sound out of a piano. Which of course is bullshit, its not cheating at all, If your a shit drum player then weather your using triggers or a miced up kit, you still sound shit, and if your amazing, you still sound amazing.

  • no Like Callisto to A Star in Heaven

  • You're dumb.

  • mother

  • heavy metal drums are so evil...

  • dudes, youre all right and wrong, the trigger can either go to a drum machine witch than is a bit like midi filing and you import a certain wave file with the sound you want on the certain signal. im shure he triggers, but in his case the trigger just tells the mic when to record the sound otherwise the mics would record sounds from other things like the snare mic would record the sound of the toms as well. you would here it if hed be sampling the drums, that just sounds weak and has no feel.

  • Yes! Like Calisto to a Star in Heaven!

  • nahh , what triggers do is record the impulse hit made when the bass pedel hits the drum and allow the producer to alter the sound of the bass drum,

I don't know if he uses them or not, but thats what triggers do, they dont improve your playing and its not like cheating in anyway, its just a good device to help improve overall sound

  • wow amazing sounding kit, i have a Ddrum defiant 8 piece, and I'm always trying to get it to sound just like this, but i can't get those sonic sounds out of the toms, and i can't seem to get that high pitch out of my snare without overtones. Idk, i try using moon gels but they don't help all that much.

  • Travis uses aqaurian heads for his drums... ive noticed those sounds a little bit more full then most heads .. also you could try remo ambassadors (clear)

  • no there is equilization on the drums to clean them up. only the bass drums are triggered.

  • im totally sure... in the dvd that comes with the album, when they are talking about drums recording you can see all the drums surrounded by mics...

  • Callisto kinda reminds me a bit of crusade (album, not song). But this is definitely wayyyy better

  • hey thats like callistop to a star in heaven, one of my favourite songs woooo!!!!!

  • But it is wood, with thick silver metals rings

  • He uses his signature ddrum snare

  • for the question what snare he uses. I don't really know what he uses but I got the dvd and it's definately a metal snare, no wood. I think it looked similar to the pearl steel snare for 300 bugs. could be mistaking though

  • hahahaa, it's not his opinion, it IS callisto

  • thnx

  • haha omg...well MY opinion is that this song is kirisute gomen! hahahaha omg wow.

  • definitely callisto pal

  • i know its callisto, i was making a joke on the person who was like "in ur opinion its callisto"

  • oh. ha my bad, sarcasm/humor is hard to interpret in text :)

  • haha i hear ya! i have the same trouble. like when people are like "oh boy is trivium good or what" i dont know if i need to be like FUCK YEAH THEY ARE! or hey fuck you! haha.

  • lol right with ya man

  • its like callisto to a star

  • what snare drum is that

  • probably the matching ash snare that came with his ddrum kit or his signature birch/basswood snare.

  • nope like callisto to a star in heaven

  • this is like callisto to a star in heaven!!!!! great fuckin' drums...

    it's like a fuckin' monster

  • omg this sound is just mindblowing. does anyone of you know how I can get this snare sound by tuning?

  • You cant, Its all in the eq. but i would recommend getting a skin with something like a powerdot on it. I have been recording in the studio for a couple of weeks now on drums and travis' kit is eq'd so well after me trying for hours.

  • whats a power dot

  • a powerdot is a patch that can be put on the center of a drumhead on top or on the bottom to add durability and focus to its sound.

  • k thnx

  • mike portnoy uses them sometimes

  • uses what? triggers?

  • no in this album he recorded all without any triggers... just with mics
