being a beginning backcountry skier, avalanches are unbelievable and awesome, yet ridiculously scary. The more you learn about them, the more dangerous they begin to appear. Everything that you would think makes an avalanche safer can turn into a trap. Such as dense trees. You think that they would privide forgery that stops slabs from fracturing. but you then learn that they really can just make the snowpack less stable. even a beacon will do you little when you do get caught. Learn to live!
