That was one of the best weather vids i have eva seen! U have the purple lightning, the cumulonimbus clouds spawning the birth of the funnel cloud, u have the mammatus clouds to the left (bubbly clouds) and the bright blue sky with the sirens in the background- Great vid!
@ToRNadohuNT3R thanks. right before I left wisconsin, I took another clip of a storm. I got about 30 mins of footage. I am hoping to post it soon. you would have to see itbut I got some great shots of the storm developing.
omfg dude the freaking funnel was like lookin at u hahaha damn dude nice I was looking for the one by lake winnibago that was by us ........ But couldnt get a pic or bid lol NICE!!!!!!
Woweee..for an April 10th..that was a lot of lightning for your area so far north!!! Very impressive....quite mouthwateringly nice too to view.,... Interestingly enough, exactly 5 years ago tomorrow, 4/15/06..I had a BIGTIMED-Tstorm here with frequent CGs and lotsa thunder...the video is uploaded but under my old YouTube screen-name ''LuvsTstormTapes''....And exactly 37 years ago tonight, 4/14/74..I also saw lotsa of nonstop lightning..I did audiotape the Tstorm...still have the tape!
I live right in this area and @ the time I was visiting my mother an hour south in Slinger, kinda mad I wasn't at home to see this. When I got home my roommate was spooked, looks like I missed it all. All I saw on the drive from Slinger to Oshkosh around 8-9pm was just lightning. and a little rain from Lomira on north.
@DanielleBri82 It was pretty intense. We all were really lucky. When I was down stairs it took me about 45 seconds to get back upstairs, I dont even think I shut the door. I wish I would have been able to film more. I had a 16 gb card, just not enought juice in the phone, the reason i was getting yelled at was because I had the guys laptop with me. lol
those mammatus are absolutely gorgeous....sadly I go to school at UW madison and missed all the action but I'm originally from Appleton. My dad said it sounded like a freight train above the house...absolutely epic
Appleton here - pretty much just off 41. Was quite bizarre being here and seeing this. Originally from Tornado Alley, MS. Never saw this activity down south either. Glad all are safe!!
@layzdaze I lived in SC when I was younger, I would have to agree, this was by far the scariest storm I have ever been through, almost something you would see out of a movie. We are going to be in for one hell of a summer.
@krackmouse I think I see what you are talking about it looks like a funnel cloud. I think thats what my downstairs neighbors are referring to. I wanted to watch it so bad. I was in and out of my house, and I was being yelled at by my room mate.
That storm was absolutely amazing I live in Grand Chute and the tornado you are referring to, was on the ground at ighway 41 and OO but it died just before the sirens went off. I was on my balcony at the time, and saw the ominous black rotating funnel go back up into the sky. You are right it sure did sound like a freight train. lol. I told y husband It sounded like a jet engine on our roof lol. but all in all it was a crazy night that is for sure.
@linz12379 Thats it I live on Sanctuary court so that was right in front of us. THats wha i thought it had sounded like to. I thought it sounded like a jet. We had no idea what is was but everone booked it back in the apt buiding i shot this video shortly before it touched down.
@sonac04 I did get a small clip of the "jet engine" sound I had to loop the clip so you can hear it but I am sure if you listen to it you will recognize the sound.
@violinistcindylou This was the storm that causes the tornadoes. I was right on the edge of it you can see that. The roaring that we heard later was the tornado that hit Kaukauna, it it was literary minutes after I shot this. I shot it right around the same time as Kaukauna was being hit. I was amazed what i got the camera picked up way more then what we were seeing.
At what point in the video can you see the funnel? I didn't see one, but the vid is a bit dark. I'm in Green Bay, and these storms were awesome! I'm also a trained SKYWARN spotter so I love getting into the thick of these storms. Take care!
@mslattebo I am not sure if it is. it happens quick the camera was picking up more than what we were seeing at the time. Around 1:30-2:30 if you watch in the lower right hand corner you see couds that look like they have some drop down to them. I dont know if this an actual funnel cloud or even the start of one but the clouds were pissed. I am interested to know what the roaring sound was. it sounded like a train, but we couldnt see anything. I love this stuff too! too bad the battery died.
Incredible storm, wow!

I've never been in a tornado before........so i can't really tell if the sound around 0:15 was the actual tornado or just a siren...what was it?
KarateHamsterGirl 10 months ago
@KarateHamsterGirl Just the siren, you can hear the sirens power down both city and county sirens were going off.

If you go slow and pause at 1:45 it looks like the tornado. Freaky. I was in Oshkosh but the storm was so cool
